I believe this is the earliest pic of Paul and John in the Quarrymen, probably taken in Sept. 1957. Does anyone know for sure?

I think that still is the earliest photo of John & Paul in the Quarry Men but it was taken on the 23rd November 1957, at the New Clubmoor hall, Norris Green, Liverpool. I think it actually might also be the earliest photo of John & Paul...whatever they were doing !!

That’s right - I forgot that was where/when they wore those ties!

A guy in our group bought this photo off the wall of the club for £50! They were raising money to save the club.

Nice photos Nancy, I'm glad you had the opportunity to visit the venue. I think they were taking liberties with that notice,which states the actual date that Paul was invited to join the group (20th July 1957). The real date had long been forgotten over the years (even by 1968 John & Paul thought that they'd met in 1955 !! ) and it was only remembered as being roughly two weeks after John & Paul (officially) met at the church fete. The notice more than suggests it was exactly two weeks.
