DanTheFan:
Remember, ordinary people laugh at the Daily Mail and The Guardian (they probably have spiteful comments too) as they're at opposite ends of the spectrum. One hates everything on the left, the other hates everything on the right whilst they both think they're correct and blame the ills of the world on anything but themselves. I actually had an argument with my history teacher the other day (im an upper-sixth former), she never liked the Beatles at all but said 'he should give it up as he's made all his money' to which I replied, he did the Olympics for a £1 and 'If you were a billionaire that loved touring and gets thousands of people singing your songs every night, would you want to stop?'. I was in a bad mood on the day, and she can irritate me sometimes. For some reason, people here in the UK look down on success or equate it with arrogance, I don't even see how people can accuse Paul of having a big ego or whatever. He's not an Elton making jabs at others all the time or criticising. Most people who work with him and musicians are in awe, the only thing I can think of is that he dyes his hair - but older women do it. Perhaps he'll stop the hairdye and he'll get everyone fawning over him, just like what happened to Tom Jones.
Please tell your History teacher from me that she's an ignorant cow who has no knowledge of the creative spirit. She might do a job she hates for the money, but a true musician will continue to write, perform and entertain for all their life for the musical fulfilment that it brings to themselves and others.
