WELL, WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED FROM PART ONE OF "THE BEATLES GET BACK?"
JOHN LENNON HALF OF THE LENNON/McCARTNEY (L/M) EARLIER SONGS ARE OWNED BY SONY/ATV AND NOT LENONO MUSIC. I checked the ASCAP website and ... what can I say. "Waiter, check, please!"
The L/M songs that were used in the Peter Jackson filmed but never published by Northern Songs are MPL/Lenono. Good to see Dick James in the film, of Dick James Music and Northern Songs Limited. I wonder if he was like the actor who portrayed him in that Elton John bio pic, "Rocketman?"
Witnessing the birth of those songs being born on film including "Another Day" is amazing.
According to Billboard, Yoko cut a deal in 2009 with Sony/ATV for an undisclosed sum to allow them to either own or manage John's half of those Lennon/McCartney songs for the duration they'll be under copyright, which is 2050 (death of the writer + 70 years). The particulars of the deal are, apparently, secret.
