Hi all hope you don't mind - but re the situation in Japan I read from someone there nd he was inderstandably concerned. I actually made several suggestions via web board - and I thought - I recalled in the early 1960's as my elder sister watched the movie Heidi . One of the key factors was HOPE. So I got to it and rgis afternoon wrote a poem - in the hope maybe it could be used to cheer people up as being positive is essential to well being. I hope its not seen as egotistical but merely a kind gesture to a personal going through a lot. I ended up calling it Our very Best To You. I know that I'm not there with you And I can only imagine your sadness and distress From distant shores we all watch - united in our view And I guess at times like these we all - just send our very best to you I wondered what I say - if anything at all Sometimes you say nothing and as result you feel that much more sore I know that you need one thing - one thing to help you cope Hang on we're all here cheering you on - be strong and take a leap of hope For without hope - the soul it aches - and the pain is much more intense So bombard us with your complaints and thoughts - we' are jut waiting on the global fence We are one planet with joining plates - I bleed the same as you So yell on out if we can help - we just want the best for you So excuse me - if I seem misplaced - indeed what should I or we all say? But we must wait and hope and see- it doesn't really help that much when we're all so far away But every shore around the world is united in it view We can send some cash and send some cheer- and just send our best to you. Thanks Peter

RE: World News
Watching the tele lst night was - beyond belief. Had a mate over and we watched what we could as large tele was for some reason on regular programs - save SBS - which meant a small portable blac and white. Watched what we could and investigated what i could - I would be busy today - and agin tomorrow - so - personally I actually found that slight bummer - as I always try to take those sorts of things in. I have a mate who used to fly aeroplanes in Phillipines and I gave him a dall - he explained that Australia though placed on alert is protected largely by PNG. In 1960 when the earthquake hit Chile the tsunami crossed the ocean and washed up here - about 6 inches higher than others and crosed the street. ( as is the case with a king tide.) I did not see the wave today - I havn't had a chance to even go to the beach ( I used to live on it - till Council ILLEGALLY stuck a shed in my way. ) . I did ask my mate last night about Phillipines and he explained - that it would hit there somewhere - but to be honest while the major cities may be well armed the isolated provinces may find out - way too late. He also said Vietnam and PNG would get the force and I see on the news tonight - a small wave was observed in NZ. With no harm done. Personally I hoped there would be some coverage tonight as there have been some interesting stories. Hopefully - not all are true. To the people of Japan - hope thing s pick up sooner rather than later. - And no _I didn't want to watchg it to be morbid but I wonder - exactly what causes these massive shifts that creat gigantic devastating results. Would be nice if there were SOME consitent factors. Peter - Brisbane
Something to think about .
Hi all I am fairly new - I noticed this portion of the board the other week but - couldn't find it. I looked but to pretty much no avail I live in Australia - (qld actually ) and yes we had the floods. New Zealand unfortunately copped a massive series of earthquakes. The thing is - there is always something happening somewhere - look at Libya. Anyway I enjoy writing poems and a few years ago I was thinking of how well done yesterday was and a thought occurred to me. - but before I tell you - no - it can't be a song - because - you cannot change the words of a Betles song. But I decided to try and write a great poem.. Upon that premise I decided many people meet for the first time - upon a Saturday - get to know ech other - on a Saturday and amazingly - exchange their vows - on - you guessed it a Saturday. I have shown a few people - and the 1st said so you think your bette than Paul Mccartney? No I said but i think its pretty good - . The person gave it a nice compliment. I will spare you any ego trip thanks. I actually have another verse particularly for Sir Paul but - I contacted EMI and they explained that - it could not be forwarded. I did think that given the misfortune and injustices of this world - perhaps I could put it on here- and if by chance anyone should deem it appropriate to use it for a special occasion perhaps someone may pass the hat around for maybe Christchurch or a charity to help the less fortunate - in say Libya or Africa . **Somewhere where assistance is needed urgently. I must stress though - in accordance with copyright laws it cannot be sung but I suspect perhaps a few people will enjoy it. Anyway to cut it short I called it ........... Saturday. ( hope you like it) SATURDAY Saturday Oh I never knew they made such days As I saw you my heart fell away You looked a picture Saturday You stood standing there Flaming hair You just came along I was gone That Saturday You just Walked into the room I was doomed That Saturday Three years on I can?t believe We stand here as one You changed my world That Saturday Fairytale Resplendent angel Peaking through a veil A passing glance And then love set sail You look a picture This Saturday You stopped the world That Saturday Jealous angels can but admire you I am but speechless You are the world This Saturday You look amazing This Saturday God kissed my feet That Saturday You changed my world That Saturday May everyday Be Saturday (C) Peter.LRowe 18-Feb-11 Thanks for that and - hope its not too bad. RE: 'LIVE 8 WAS AN ANTI-CLIMAX', MOANS SIR ELTON
Hi all - I read the articles and I wanted to say to be honest I felt that to a certain extent he did have a point - though if you are in the UK you may not notice it. Live Aid the first - originated in ... Sydney . I booked a ticket on a bus - took time off work and went - even taking the video recorder so i could tape Led Zeppelin. It was a four day trip. Oz For Africa - was held on Sat night - and had Mental As Anything opening , I'm Talking were very good. LRB were exceptional with Farnham out front. Mondo Rock were great , Australian Crawl , one after the other - it was a blitzkrieg of brilliance. The last thee acts were - The Angels ( Angel City ) , Dragon ( you may know them as Dragon or Hunter ) and it was closed by no less than INXS. Complete with lasers. From memory there were 10 acts . This time it was not quite the same - I was ecstatic to see Paul with U2 - and overjoyed to see Pink Floyd with Roger Waters - a dream come true. I love Coldplay - and while I like most of the acts - Pete Doherty i don't think helped Sir Elton. To me - it was abrave attempt but it seemed like a concert for the other side of the planet. And to be honest Live aid actually had a forerunner in melbourne called the E.A.T ( East African Tragedy ) concert - promoted by a man called Bill Gordon. So in all fairness I think he does have a point. We should also remeber that live Aid was hot on the heels of two smash hits - the BAND AID single and We Are The World . Perhaps egos - maybe it was time - . it was brilliant that the organsers did it but no - it did not have the smack in your face factor that Live Aid had. I know by 5 AM I was going home to bed and some acts were still coming on. Anyway - thats just my little gripe. It did have some brilliant moment though. Peter
RE: Do Me a Favour.....
I too hope Paul will return to Australia - . I have never seen any of The Beatles. I recall the day they arrived in 1964 but was only 7 and some 100 miles from the city. ( I think Dad probably drovw us 60 miles so we could see urban transmission. and that was my first newsflash . ) How surreal. Sydney airport - 10,000 screaming fans. In 1975 - I had year 12 exams - and in the early 90's - Sir Paul could NOT use the local football stadium as it had just been regreened . He went to Sydney - - I meantime sprained my ankle getting off a bus. The final thing was - announcing a concert in melbourne and sadly he cancelled it . Given the troubles of both Nz and Australia - I would hope the scope of the world tour - would be widened to embrace that other little universe Australasia . Congratulations on the achievement with the NYC Ballet. Peter
RE: WELCOME AND VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE MACCA ALBUM AS YOU ENTER
Venus And Mars . IT IS NOT A HANDS DOWN THOUGH . RRS is great as is LIVE
Hi folks - just a quick note to say hi and while this is my 2nd post ( I spotted one about Johns best comp and entered that first - but I wanted to say hi. half stuck for a name I wondered what to write - yes Elton john maybe Captain fantastic but the Beatles - with all due respect were something even more phenomenal than that. So if the Beatles were Fab - then why not choose the name I did. I still look at the video of Penny lane - The literal version on you tube and am certain they themselves would have laughed at that. I hope it is taken as a laugh - my name - I have nothing to do with the video but i do love that one. Cheers Peter. I see there is a poll question here so I wonder how many Aussies / Kiwis would like to see Sir Paul here - he missed Qld last time. I am sure they would welcome the appearance of The Fireman. Thanks again
