Nice to see the Macca Board still exists. I received my eight "secret demo edition" CD's (gatefolds and single pockets). They're nice to have in the collection, and it was nice to support a new release by Paul, even though it didn't quite make it to No. 1 in the US

RE: Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland, NZ, December 16th - CONFIRMED
Anyone get any good tix for New Zealand? I pulled up B3 row A. Far from the stage, but wife has back problems so decided to go with the space in front of the section. OK for Diamond pricing I suppose.

Why when you click on the date links does it say VIP tickets are SOLD OUT? How can they be sold out when the pre sales has not started yet? I was really hoping to get VIP tickets for 2 of us coming from Australia.
There was a brief window a few days ago - they went on sale by the promoter and it was by lottery.

Does anyone know roughly where the different ticket sections on the lottery are going to be? And what about the different levels of VIP?
Complete crap shoot. To be honest, there are very few good seats in a show at a baseball stadium, so just accept that and enjoy the show. Lots of the good seats are in the VIP packages - last time, just two levels. I think the cheapest was $800, and they were difficult to get because demand>supply. If you want to do VIP packages, certain countries in Europe are best because of all standing fields (get early entry).

RE: Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors
Has he been seen leaving the hotel/Japan? I suppose if he is just recovering from a virus, a suite in the Hotel (or wherever he is) in Tokyo isn't a bad place to be.

RE: Tokyo - Tokyo Dome - Nov. 18, 19, & 21, 2013 - ARCHIVE
Just returned from the show (November 21st). Setlist reverted to previous shows, with "Listen to What the Man Said", "And I Love Her" and "Get Back". As usual, the crowd was great, and Paul was hard at work engaging the audience and overcoming the woeful acoustics and vast expanse of the Tokyo Dome. I think this was the best of the Tokyo shows, primarily because his vocal performance was much better than on the two earlier shows - his voice sounded well-rested, and he was visibly concentrating on staying in tune while hitting the difficult notes - which he seemed to do with relative ease on this night. It was an impressive performance and a reminder that even at 71, he remains a remarkable vocalist.

Just so no one makes a mistake - the tickets on sale at the box office tomorrow for the last show in Tokyo are "obstructed view" seats - the information provided by the venue is that seeing the stage will be difficult, so you will enjoy the concert on the big screens. 10,000 Yen ($100)

the debut of "Alligator" (which sounded great).
Ohhh I love this song!
Lucky you to have heard it live!!
He should quit teasing us & just do the whole album!
___________________________________________________ I got really excited. At first I thought Alligator and On My Way to Work were done in the actual show. While it might be unrealistic to even dream about Paul doing the whole NEW album, I am just hoping that he adds 3 or 4 additional NEW songs to the SETList in 2014. I will go practically anywhere in the US if he did this. Alligator, On My Way To Work, I Can Bet and Early Days would be fantastic.
I would think that a small session of the complete album, done at EMI and streamed for fans would be perfect.

Japan's not a great place to do VIP packages for a couple of reasons. A lot of people go (275 this time) so the logistics take time - we ended up waiting 2 hours in a corridor, and an additional hour on the stadium floor - the earlier you checked in, the longer you waited.
also not really specific to Japan. There is always waiting around prior to soundcheck, and I've spent 2 hours standing in a corridor at US and Canadian gigs with less than 200 soundcheckers.
I must say THANKS! to everyone for your reports and reviews, please keep them coming! Glad you all are having such a great time with Paul.
That's unfortunate. I've participated in a number of these sound check packages over the years, and this was the first time this has happened to me. I felt that a 1:30 check in and standing for three hours for the sound check was a bit grueling. I think they should try to make it a bit easier on people (some of whom seemed quite old). In Austin earlier this year, for example, there were places to sit in an air conditioned room and people who were interested were taken in groups to the merchandise stand where they could purchase tour goods. In Rotterdam last year, they had set up space in one of the bars at the Ahoy where participants could sit and had access to food and drink. Of course, those were much smaller groups than today, so I thought that it was the number of people that made it impossible to provide some seating, but it sounds like it is not uncommon now to have to line up for a few hours. I'm a pretty loyal fan and don't have many complaints, but I think that artist management should try to ensure that 275 fans buying a VIP package (and bringing in an aggregate of $2.5 - $3.0 million in revenue) are comfortable during their experience. It will certainly help to create repeat customers.

How much are the soundcheck pkg in Japan?
80,000 Yen or about $800 or 500 GBP. Not quite as expensive as elsewhere. Same deal, I think people were near the center in the 3rd through 6th or 7th rows or so. with the first two rows reserved for "ordinary folk" who get upgraded. Japan's not a great place to do VIP packages for a couple of reasons. A lot of people go (275 this time) so the logistics take time - we ended up waiting 2 hours in a corridor, and an additional hour on the stadium floor - the earlier you checked in, the longer you waited. Also, because the seating is so far from the main stage in the stadiums, you're not as close as you would be in a US/European arena - I would estimate that the first row is really 5 or 6 rows from he stage because of that huge pit. Still, all in all, I don't think anyone had any complaints since when he actually got around to it, the sound check was a great selection of songs.

Show just ended. He played "Jet", "Things We Said Today" and "I Saw Her Standing There", in place of "Listen to What the Man Said", "I've Just Seen a Face" and "Get Back". "Jet" definitely added another level of excitement to the start of the show; perhaps Thursday, we'll hear "Junior's Farm". Paul was visibly struggling with high notes and there were someextremely rough patches, reinforcing the view that he should probably try to avoid consecutive nights. "And I Love Her" and "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Helter Skelter" were particularly ragged, and by the end of the show, you could see him pushing to get everything he could out of voice. That said, it was a spirited, warm performance by Paul. You get the sense that the audience knows he is struggling a bit with his voice, and is supporting him, savoring those moments when he hits those high notes. ,Basically, though, the Out There show, with the four new songs, is a great show - extremely well-paced. The only "bathroom break" for me is "Let Me Roll It", simply because I've heard it way too much.

Sound check package "check in" was from 1:30 to 2:30, but actual soundcheck didn't start until 4:45 or so. There were 275 people according to the Dome Staff I asked. Pretty far from the stage in the Dome, but not too bad. Solid soundcheck highlighted by a tight "Highway" and the debut of "Alligator" (which sounded great). I have the VIP package tomorrow, but tonight, I attended with a couple of "normal folks" so I bought the Crowdsurge seats in the stands. It's been a while since I've sat in the stands at a stadium show of any kind and it's a great perspective - you really appreciate the staging and the magnitude of the whole show. It was a wonderful crowd, lots of pent up demand from fans that hadn't seen Paul in 10 years. As Harleyblues said, there were so many people buying merchandise, I saved a lot of money because I couldn't buy any. I'll be there early tomorrow, so I should have better luck. A few perspectives - the four new songs were very strong; unlike past tours, I didn't detect a serious drop in interest when new songs were played. "Everybody Out There" in particular didn't sound out of place after two minor Beatles songs ("All Together Now" and "Lovely Rita") - boy, what a great song. His voice was shaky at times - "Maybe I'm Amazed" was a struggle as usual - but no one seemed to care. It's a tight, well-paced show - I wouldn't expect much setlist tinkering.

Enlighten me, how's it like to get to the Sound Check package?
It's complicated, but there is a PDF that explains the process in English here (where you will also find the links to buy): http://outthere-japantour.com/special
Oh no, not really the steps. More on what will you experience during the sound check. Will there be like a meet & greet or private session? And how many people usually are in this session..
rarely does one meet Paul McCartney---- it's not a meet and greet but a sound check and sometimes, a fan might meet Paul on stage!~ see here!

I decided to do the soundcheck package for the second show. Regular seats on the other dates, as I am going with groups of friends. For those of you who have bought VIP packages at other venues, I should warn you that there is one big disadvantage to the Tokyo Dome. Basically, there is an enormous security pit between the audience and the stage. Typically, the space is between 5-7 rows and the stage is very high. Thus, even the first row is quite a distance from the stage. It is not like the front rows of an arena show by any means.
