RE: Paul, Hampden Park, Glasgow, 20th June - ARCHIVE
It is a rainy August in North of France. Fortunately, I had at least 2 sunny week-ends in the UK in June I cannot yet believe how lucky I am to have been there. It appears that it was the best of his 5 UK gigs. And even perhaps the best of the Up and Coming tour. I hope this thread will last a long time (we still have much work to get 182 pages as Nashville's thread )

1 week of holidays and when I'm back this thread is on Page 3 Just to remind you that it was only 7 weeks ago. Have you noticed that the set list of the 1st Toronto's gig is exactly the same as the Hampden's one (with Mull of Kyntire) ?

The fireworks were only from each side of the stage (plus there were the flame things on stage). There was nothing on the roof of the stage.
Bummer. Was hoping he'd do the big fireworks like he did in the US (and I think at Hyde Park?).
In Hyde Park, the fireworks wer behind the stage. It was 5 weeks ago today, Sergeant Pepper taught the band to play.

Already 3 weeks since Hampden. Can´t believe it.
Me neither. It's time he announces some more new European gigs so I have something to look forward to again. Looked forward to Hampden for over 3 months, then it happens, then it's over
The gig began 3 weeks and half an hour ago. I am stil in my 3 British concerts. I can't even be interested by the world cup final.

Paul was on top form! End of. anyway, I found my 'moment'of when he pointed at me as I clearly did not remember the 1960s! I think I should have behaved and not shook my head so much, I could have died but I was elated too!
It is nice to read you about that but it was a greater pleasure to hear you telling it just after the show

I am still on a cloud. I had no time to read the 28 pages I have missed on this thread but I have understood that everybody enjoyed the show. As I had also the luck to be in Cardiff and Hyde Park, I can tell you that the winner is : HAMPDEN PARK ! Paul was at the top for the 3 gigs but Hampden Park makes the difference in my judgement. I will never forget Something and Let it be sung by the crowd. The global atmosphere was wonderfull from the beginning till the end. The Millenium was better than Hampden with some thongs (Hey Jude) but worse most of the time. I'm Looking Through You was a flop and they didn't realise that they had the luck to hear Ram on For the 1st time in a concert. And what to say about the incredible end of the 1st encore when most of the audience left the stadium ? I was even afraid that Paul don't come back for the 2nd encore. Hyde Park was good but it is better to be warmed up by Sharleen Spiteri than by Crosby, Stills and Nash . My classificaton : 1 - Hampden Park 2 - Hyde Park 3 - Millenium In fact it is a classification of the audiences, because I repeat that Paul was at the top even in Hyde Park 24 hours after Cardiff (near 6 hours of concert in 2 days !!!). And Glasgow was a very good place to be

Here's a link to my video of Mull of Kintyre
Thanks very much Christine for this video. What a wonderfull souvenir. Thanks also to have organised the meeting on Saturday night. Thanks to all the people I met during this week-end. And thanks to all the Scottish to be so kind and so nice and to sing incredibly well. French fans are waiting for my comments on a French website but as soon as I can I will read all the pages of this thread I have missed since I left home and will come back here to share my comments with you.

Well the question's not for me, but I can answer this: when Paul arrived the whole first row (and some from 2nd row and after) went upfront, and so the security couldn't do anything about it as everyone did it
Alright. I shall try it then.
Maybe we should try that, when the show starts, the first few rows should move up to the barrier I don't want to be sitting, and the nearer the stage the better for me
Do you think that the Scottish audience will accept that I keep standing during the show ? It appears that yesterday in Dublin, some French heard : Seat down please ! . People didn't accept them to be standing. If everybody is sitting, I will be sitting too but it will be very difficult (above all at the end - how is it possible to be sitting during Helter Skelter????)

ONE MORE WEEK my friends
Do you want to speak of the set list or do you want to keep the surprise till next Sunday (in case there would still be someone who doesn't know the current set lists) ?

[ I see there is still a lot of tickets on Ebay. I'm looking for last minute bargain for my brother, he wants to come to the Glasgow gig, but couldn't afford a ticket as he's going to T in the Park this year. Hope to get a good seat for him at a cheap price.
Did you read that thread ? http://macca.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=76151&sid=9fcf37a04331c4ae826e83a93ade52f8

So can you get back to me to let me know who wants to eat, I was thinking of booking a table for about 6 o'clock for dinner. Would that be ok? If anyone wanted to meet earlier we could stay in the bar area until 6. Whoever does not want to eat could meet us in the bar after dinner.
Count me in for dinner at 6. I'd love to have drinks with you guys before dinner. Just let me know what time you'll be there. Like I said, I will watch the football game (starts at 12.30 pm) at MM's but will head into town afterwards for a short walk around the city. How are we gonna recognize each other?
Unfortunately there's no frogs and snails in the menu but you can count me in too No problem to recognize me : I will sing Let it Be with a French accent and out of tune. Seriously, I suggest that Christinemacca gives us by PM a reference of booking so we can meet directly at the table. NO ticket for me and no informations with the link I got by mail yesterday. I just hope that it has already crossed the Channel.

Here's an article from today's Daily Record. Let's make sure we give him the loudest Hampden Roar Hampden Park has ever heard!! http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-interviews/2010/06/11/sir-paul-mccartney-i-know-it-ll-be-time-to-quit-when-i-don-t-get-buzz-from-hampden-roar-86908-22325957/
Oh oh oh he mentioned my town. That is so cool that he would mention Fraserburgh. They definitely played bigger towns than us. And seriously, if Scotland can do anything it's roar. I'm pretty sure we're not going to disappoint, even if the show's not sold out.
For me the question is : will Hampden Park be better than the Millenium or will the Millenium be better than Hampden Park ? My answer in a couple of weeks

Only A Northern Song:
So Cardiff are getting The Manic Street Preachers as the main support act? That's a great act to have on before Macca I wonder who Glasgow will get? Primal Scream would be a decent choice, especially if the promoters want to flog a few more tickets to the locals
Also The Coronas in Dublin. So I suppose It will be announced soon for Glasgow.
