RE: Paul, 30/06 AND 01/07 Horsens, Denmark - POSTPONED
Mrs. Pepper:
Why did they say there have been sold so many tickets for the first date that they announce a second date and then in the end it seems none of the shows sold well and they cancel both? Why is cancelling just one show not enough (and maybe giving people with tickets for the second show the possibility to come to the first)? Of course I can't know if money really is the reason, and I'm sorry if I'm wrong. But the strange argumentation for the cancelling leaves nothing but speculation. If he was ill, I think he would admit it. But nobody would admit it's all about the money. And that makes me SO, SO, sad!!!!!!! It makes me even more sad than the actual fact that I won't be seeing Paul.
He would have had to cancel one of the shows, as he would have here in Australia, it wouldn't be finacially viable to just do the one show. So don't believe the spin about scheduling, this is all about money. I hope when he does tour Europe that he does a show in Denmark, but that's all it will be, if he couldn't sell two this time there won't be two next time, i have my fingers crossed for you guys, Greg xoxo

Ah yes, the empathy of a fan who has Paul pass through their country touring on an almost monthy basis. Some fans actually have to travel vast distances if they want the chance to see him, like across Europe, or as in my case literally around the world. People in Aussie are STILL probably paying off lost accomodation and flights booked from when he cancelled here. Greg.
Well actually I can't afford to get on a plane or a train to see Paul. If I could afford to do so, I would only book refundable tickets -- but then I'm cautious that way. I have had to wait for Paul to come to me. Which he has done precisely once in the past 10 years. I suppose I could have driven up to New York city to see him but the cost of the concert tickets, plus the hugely expensive costs of a hotel room in NYC would be beyond my budget.
The word of the day was 'Empathy' Greg xoxo

This must be one of the most appalling things Paul and his team have ever done, the excuse is the most pathetic i've heard in a long time, i'm angry and i'm not even going. When you hear of the money some fans have had to pay out it really is a unforgivable what has been done, this will tarnish his reputation i feel.
Come now. The concert tickets are refundable. The target audience was people in the Horses Denmark area who can get their money back. And that's most of the ticket holders -- local people driving there. I feel badly for those few people who bought plane tickets but, then, you are assuming a personal and financial risk any time you buy a plane ticket to see a concert. Any number of things (flight delays, cancellations, weather problems) could go wrong.

I just noticed a couple days ago that the 2nd show wasn't sold out...wonder if that had anything to do with it?
Exactly what happened in Australia 2002

Hi Denmark, We feel your pain in Australia, of course Paul promised to come back here and make up for the cancelled concerts of 2002, last time a i checked my watch that was ten years ago. At least he didn't use a national tragedy this time as an excuse, when in fact it was poor ticket sales in Australia due to the massively inflated prices. Still love him, just wish they'd be up front with the reasons, it's insulting to fans. Greg xoxo

RE: Paul, Come To Australia
[quote="BOYCIE"]I think over the last few decades Paul's record sales have dipped drastically across the globe, none more so than in Australia, could this be a reason why he's ignoring it.I wonder whether his lamentable excuse to cancel the last Aussie gig has also contributed to his downfall.I think if he can play shows in America after 9/11,he can play in Oz after the Bali bombings, that's just my view. Hi, I forget there are all these youngun newbies on here ) Paul tried to come here in 2002, he had two nights booked in Melbourne, the prices were around $500.00 to sit down on the field, Aussies arent really used to paying that for a rock concert, so he couldn't sell out one night let alone, two, the ticket sales were dire, he .. or MPL pulled out citing the recent Bali bombings and that it wouldn't be respectful to play here, even tho Bali in not part of Australia, the fans and media saw through this reason and he was ridiculed, mocked and pilloried at the time, it was a shameful act using that as an excuse when it was really a matter of pride and economics. Strange and and unanswerable and insulting fact, Paul played in Madrid only a couple of weeks after the Madrid bombing .. care to answer that one Paul?. I hope he does come back down here, all is pretty much forgiven, at least with the big fans, but i'm curious about the memory's of the general public who were stung with lost airfares and accomodation, the bigger questions is, can Paul's pride and ego let him try to come back here? and risk having the media throw all this back in his face. Greg xoxo

[quote="moptops"][quote="gswan"]Paul McCartney to tour - after divorce By Jonathon Moran December 09, 2007 1200pm He said the 2002 tour was cancelled out of respect for the Australians that lost their lives in the tragedy. "It wasn't the right moment and very regrettably because of that we had to cancel," he said. "We didn't feel like it would be the right moment." Err, didn't he play Madrid??? Mmmm... We know the real reason he cancelled. But I don't care, just want him out here! Come Back Macca !!! Hi, Hrm yeh -) .. but i'm over it now, i too just want him to come back and i'm pretty sure it was the people around him who fed him the reasons he shouldnt come here, just to protect his ego from the real reason, but i really dont think it was Paul who called it, it would have been from the buisness end. I went to the States to see the 2005 tour .. amazing and i'll be front row centre for every concert he does back down here in Aussie. Greg.

RE: Paul, Come To Australia
Paul McCartney to tour - after divorce By Jonathon Moran December 09, 2007 1200pm SIR Paul McCartney expects to tour Australia for the first time in nearly 15 years as soon as his divorce from Heather Mills is finalised. Speaking by phone from his office in Britain, the ex-Beatle said he is waiting for life to get back to normal before he firms up his touring plans for 2008. "Next year I am starting to plan some touring but I don't know how much," Sir Paul said. "In truth, the whole situation is a little complicated by the fact that I am separating from my missus. "That kind of colours an awful lot of what my travelling plans are because I have got a little four-year-old (daughter Beatrice)." "Anyone who has been through this kind of thing will understand that she is my priority, the little one," he said, promoting the release of The McCartney Years DVD retrospective. "But I am going to tour. I just have to think a little more carefully about it than I would in the past." Despite his personal troubles, plans are under way for a world tour. "I have been dying to get to Oz for an awful long time," he said. "I am planning it. I am hoping for it. I would love to get down there because I haven't been forever. If we get down there, man, we're going to have fun." It has been nearly 15 years since the former Beatle last toured Australia. He played the Sydney Entertainment Centre in March, 1993 for his global The New World Tour, with former wife Linda McCartney in his band. Sir Paul was set to tour Australia in November, 2002 but cancelled after the Bali bombings that year. He said the 2002 tour was cancelled out of respect for the Australians that lost their lives in the tragedy. "It wasn't the right moment and very regrettably because of that we had to cancel," he said. "We didn't feel like it would be the right moment."
