RE: Paul's website regarding ticket presales is VERY misleading.
I just don't understand why this is so underhanded. So if you register for the presale you don't get a code unless you buy a laminate? That is completely unfair and unethical. Why would they do this? I understand they want the sales from the digital album but suckering fans into buying another copy is ridiculous.

I still don't think it's fair that the "upgrades " get 1st & 2nd row, front & center. A couple years ago I had 3rd row center & it seemed like all in front of me were upgrades or free tickets ...all young & very drunk, could have cared less there was a concert going on,much less that it was Paul. Looks like this tour first row center is available to fans. When I was trying for tickets for Grand Rapids show, ,I saw center seats ,front row. I opted for 3rd row because of price . But they were available!
Very very unusual for those to be sold. At all the shows I've been to this year, front row center seats were filled by upgrades.
Me too
If you look at that Munich seating chart, you'll see there is only one section straight on in front of the stage (not 3 like in the U.S.) so they had to sell those front row seats for the Hot Sound Package (or whatever they call it there)
I meant solely for US shows. I don't know what happens in Europe.
me and friedns of mine got front row center for stockholm in the normal pre-sale. maybe they haven?t friends over there
Could be different in Europe.

This practice is common for all shows no matter who the artist is and where or what the venue is. That is why it is sometimes possible to get the best seats in the house the day of the show. They are held for friends, family and other vips and if they aren't used, then you could luck out. And of course you aren't going to complain if you are the beneficiary of this. It's happened for me a couple of times, although not for Paul and I'm not going to complain if someone offers me tickets up front, usually for free. Face it, lets say you were friends with Brian Ray and were in town for the show, wouldn't you expect him to get you a good ticket? They clearly aren't going to remove someone from their seat, so they have to save tickets for this possible occurance.
good seats yes. the best seats in the house NO.
And I understand how people feel about it, unless of course you benefit from it. But regardless it is a standard practice and not about to end anytime soon.

I sure am glad I saw all my heroes back in the day when you waited in line to buy tickets, looked at a map of the arena, picked your seats, and bought them two months before the show. And tickets cost $35!! After fees, $38.50!! BTW, In 1989 and 1993, the McCartney Fan Club would block seats for fans to buy. It was really cool. Is that how it still works? Doesn't sound like it.
I don't ever quite remember being able to pick and choose where I sat. I remember being third in line for Wings at MSG and getting tickets straight back. What I didn't know is if I slipped the guy a 20 I could have gotten better seats. I waited on line after that for Nassau Collesium and did get great seats, but I wasn't anywhere near the front. More like the end to middle. The only thing I think is different is the price. Same with the Beatles. I never got to choose my seats. You sent in a check for the amount you wanted to pay and they sent you tickets. Even when Paul had the fun club , he did block off those seats for fans, but they chose them for you.

Ticket reselling is a huge business and it isn't going away, unfortunately. One consolation is if you wait until the day before or day of the show you may be able to get tickets for half off or more. Ticket sellers take their chances too, and don't always sell everything. You can get some great deals if you wait.
Waiting is fine for those that don't need accommodations and travel arrangements. I'm only a 2 hr drive from Boston and since it is on a Sunday I will take a chance on the prices going down even the day of the show, but it is far from ideal and the problem is that as one person put it even though they'd like to think that Paul doesn;t profit from the fans wanting to see him, he does, because the only tickets sold up front are the ones with ridiculous prices. There was a time when he saved those great seats for fans , but not anymore. Anyone who thinks that a field seat behind the front section is good, or for that matter the first 10 or so rows, will be disappointed and watching the screens if they are lucky. And at 275 a ticket you should at least be able to see Paul, not just be there. I'd prefer the last row of a stadium then a field seat under those circumstances. But still not the best way to treat the 'fans'. There were promises made about making this website fan friendly. They took money from the 'real' fans, and then nothing happened. Now they can't even give the 'real' fans a bone with good seats. Doesn't make sense to me.

RE: Scalpers own the ticket sales
I'm pulling up tickets. All with no view of the stage.

RE: Scalpers own the ticket sales
All that you say is true, however some of us don't live near a major city so getting to these shows means travel and hotels. It would be nice to know for sure that I had a ticket to an event rather than just taking a chance on the day of the show. I've done that when double shows are involved and have been lucky, but I was already there. But it is frustrating knowing they are trying to unload the worst seats before giving out the better ones as well. This has become a common ticket practice and it is frustrating, which is why the fan presales should be more generous in offering options to the actual fans.
-
RE: Scalpers own the ticket sales
Total joke. When I got into Bosotn they were giving me 79.50 tickets with no view. And that was at 10:01. And we know these tickets aren't going to fans of any sort. When are people going to wake up and correct this. You would have hoped the fan presale would at least be nicer to actual fans as they were years ago. Sad state of affairs. The only good thing is that the brokers will be desperate to sell the day of the show.

RE: Second Washington D.C. Pre-Sale Thread
Another sale where the only good tickets sold you had to pay top dollar for. No 'regular' priced tickets for fans in the good sections as they used to do.

I suspect there is about as much of a chance in the general sale of getting tickets as there was today.... ZILCH!
I actually had 'luck' from a friend in another city. I wouldn't call my ticket great, but better than nothing.

RE: Pre-Sale Thread - Hamilton
Guess I can't complain too much. sec 106 row 7. I've done side stage view and it isn't too bad for now.

Yes I'm familiar with that...it does not show up on the ticket page for me. I have refreshed the page to try to make it show up and it is not there.
Following this link: http://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/10005087CDCD55BF?did=cy75xfykzh And then selecting 'Paul McCartney Fan Pre - Sale' from the ticket type drop down box should then display a offer code box.
It's a pretty useless link, as I'm sure you know

I would love to know how many tickets are available and if anyone here on the board scored one the old fashioned way - that is logging in, watching the second hand and the moment you could, clicked on number of tickets (of course AFTER verifying you are not a bot) and best available. Did that work for anyone?
I got a few ''bad' tickets that way, but it took a few attempts. As a fan I'd expect better.

It shows up every now and then. They are trying to get the 'fans' to purchase the packages in desperation instead, so they offer probably 10 fan presale tickets and then hope you purchase a vip package just to have something.

Underneath the number of tickets th ere's a little link that says, "Got an offer code"
Yes had to go back and look. Seems like 50+ years of being a fan means absolutely nothing anymore. I'm still waiting for that new and improved fan website.
