Looks like they both came back from a trip to Pepperland.

RE: 2017 Setlist Speculation Thread
What happened to the Paul who insisted on playing Soily as his encore? We want that Paul back!

RE: STONES TRIED TO OUT DO SGT. PEPPER
You had the Stones, Zeppelin, the Who, Pink Floyd, & Bowie all peaking in the early 70s. One of the great "what if's" is if the Beatles had stuck together, what would the pressure of their competition do to their music?

RE: Ringo And All-Starr Band - 2017 Tour
That has to be his worst setlist ever. To each his own, but he picked the worst Beatles' songs, besides Revolution 9! He does the same old Ringo 70's hits. The All Stars' songs are pretty average as well. Oh well, people will always pay to see a Beatle perform.

So you're saying that is Joe Walsh in this video?
Him too :
No need for sarcasm. Is it too much to ask for a straight answer around here?
Definitely Joe Walsh playing slide guitar in the band shots. I didnt realize Paul was in this video until now - a brief 2-second clip in the middle!

The song sounds like classic 70's Ringo. If he had released it 20 years earlier, it would have been a #1 hit.

RE: Tom Petty
George Harrison plays on guitar & Ringo drums on Petty's now classic 'I Wont Back Down"

Bruce M.:
I couldn't do it last night, but I'm going to play the first Traveling Wilburys album tonight, and probably cry my eyes out. RIP Tom -- and George and Roy.
Only 2 Wilburys remain Watching Petty sing lead on End of the Line is hard:

RE: Tom Petty
Very sad. 'Wildflowers' is one of my favorite albums & 'American Girl' one of my favorite songs. Musical genius.

RE: Paul's new album and promotion
I think Paul is basically done from a creativity perspective. He enjoys touring & pleasing his fans with Beatles & some Wings' classics thrown-in. But, he doesn't have the "fire in the belly" to write classic songs any more. That's fine. I'd rather he not record if that means putting out mediocre/poor material. I thought he would move in the direction of writing material for others to sing, but that doesnt appear to be his style.

His best album since 'Ringo', imo.

"Let it Bleed" was a callous response to "Let it Be", etc.
Wasn't "Let it bleed" released way before "Let it be" ever saw the light of day?
No, after.
Any source? AFAIK, "Let it bleed" was released in December 1969, "Let it be" in March 1970 (Single) and May 1970 (Album).
Hamish and I must have read it in the same publication. Guessing it was an interview with John, but it could have been a Beatles bio book.
'Let it Be' was in the can for a long-time & I think many in the music industry knew about the project throughout 1969. I remember reading that Mick/Keith named the album as a response to 'Let it Be', even though the single/album wasnt released until 1970. I'll try to dig out the reference.
Cant find the reference online, but remember reading many thought Mick was playing with the Beatles again. Too much of a coincidence imo - Let it Bleed , Let it Be. I wonder if Mick was every asked this question directly.

In an interview, John said the Stones did everything they did--six months later.
Agree that The Beatles were on the Stones' minds even during their golden period: Beggar's Banquet to Exile on Main Street. Mick said 'You Can't Always Get What You Want" was influenced heavily by "Hey Jude". "Let it Bleed" was a callous response to "Let it Be", etc. It was only after the Beatles split did they go on with the "greatest rock & roll band" nonsense.

RE: THE BEATLES & THE GURU 50 YEARS AGO
The Beatles at their absolute peak. 2 days later, Brian dies and the group slowly disentigrates.

Our 7yr old just heard "Let'em In" yesterday and wants to know who Sister Suzie, Brother John, Uncle Ernie, and Auntie Gin are. Oh, and Phil and Don also.
Auntie Gin is one of McCartney's aunts and Sister Suzie is Linda McCartney who had recorded song with the name "Suzie". Not sure who Uncle Ernie refers to in the song.
You can see Auntie Gin!! (& Paul's Dad) in this cool video filmed in a Liverpool pub (1:50).

RE: In Memorian - Brian Epstein - died 50 years ago today

Funny that an article about The Beatles losing Millions because of Brian was just published. http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/life/844721/the-beatles-lost-millions-manager-brian-epstein-blunders
Brian recognized the raw talent, made the crucial relationship with George Martin, and had the vision to go global. But he was a poor negotiator and just didn't realize how much value the lennon/McCartney team had. The Norther songs deal was a total disaster by not giving lennon/McCartney majority share. That misguided decision has implications to this day.

RE: Paul's new album and promotion
As I've stated before, MAF will be regarded as Paul''s late era classic. It runs circles around New. Not even close...as others have said.

So sad. I often wonder how things would have been different had he not died. P.S. He was born in 1934 and was 32 (nearly 33) when he died.
If Brian lived, no Allan Klein, no 3 vs. Paul on money matters, and no Apple diaster falling directly on Paul and John''s shoulders. They would have been a much happier group and would have stayed together a bit longer.
