I always thought Paul's guitar style on 'Taxman' had an influence on Jimi's playing.

RE: KOTB charting
left hand man:
Paul McCartney is at the very top of the jazz charts, a big #1 for Kisses On The Bottom!! This man is truly one in a million, a true living legend!! Yet another #1 to add to his post Beatles collection! How this mans career after the Beatles doesn't get the real true credit it deserves is just insane!!
Some are saying KOTB will eventually be more influential than "A Kind of Blue"

RE: KOTB charting
Sir Guy Grand:
KOTB sold 23.849 copies to debut at # 3 on the UK album chart . Memory Almost Full (2007) sold 21.246 in it's first week , it got to # 5 on the UK album chart . Good first week sales for KOTB ,should go Gold like Memory Almost Full and it could even go Platinum which is 300.000 copies in the UK .
The album should get a boost from Paul's Grammy performance. KOTB could rival Band on the Run in terms of sales...

wingsdgm:
from Beatlefan..Billboard reports that McCartney's "Kisses on the Bottom" looks likely to crack next week's album Top 10 with 70,000 in sales. # 6
Anything less than #1 is unacceptable for a great Mccartney album!!

McCartney & Van Halen both at the top of the album charts...Is this the late 70s & early 80s again!!

RE: Paul McCartney - YouTube Videos
Macca singing "God Only Knows" with Brother Brian. Wow. Paul sounds in really good form here:

I've been playing Red Rose Speedway this morning and thought I'd post this song as a little tribute to imo a cracking album..
I bet a few thought this was going to be a tribute to something else when you read the headline gotcha :Love that song, and beautiful face.
you will love this to Kitty
I was on a high when this album came out1 common thread in Paul's songs over the years has been the plight/loneliness/appreciation of people (especially women): Rigby, She's Leaving Home, Madonna, Blackbird, Another Day, Oh Woman Oh Why, Treat Her Gently, Daytime Nightime Suffering, Pretty Little Head, Jenny Wren, etc....Paul's not just about "silly love songs".

I'm Carrying (different mix):
1 of my Top 5 Macca solo songs. Just beautiful. Whenever I play this to friends, I get the same response - What Beatles album is this on?? -
RE: Moving Pictures - a thread for YouTube clips of the Beatles!
Watching Rainbows - a great Beatles song from the Let it Be sessions. Great lyrics (provided). Man, this sounds so much like the Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers era...although this song pre-dates it by about 2 years. I swear Keith stole this riff for "Can you hear my knocking" - starting at 3:00 especially!

RE: Flowers In The Dirt a real masterpiece
A very good album, but could have been great. Paul returns to power pop with this album. There are 3 songs which I dont like: rough ride, distractions, & how many people. If he replaced those with his better B-sides at the time, this album would be a masterpiece.

RE: Worst line from a McCartney song
Smile_Away:
Paul is guilty of writing some of the greatest lyrics of all time, that's why when something like "12345 lets go for a drive" comes out it makes your ears perk up and go "What?". Also, sometimes it's not what's being sung, but how it's being sung.
Good point. The almost exact line in "All Together Now" works because its a fun rant/mantra type of song. In "Driving Rain", Paul attempts to be serious & sentimental with the song matter, so the line comes off completely half-baked.

RE: Worst line from a McCartney song
"Like gravy, down to the last drop, I keep mopping her up Oh yeah, she's my baby." Still a cracking Wings tune...

RE: Worst McCartney album?
Give My Regards to Broadstreet is unlistenable to my ears. I like the title tune but the rest of the original songs are banal & the covers - what was the point?? All McCartney albums, despite varying quality, are creative & interesting. This is the only one that it seemed he didnt even try to do something new.

RE: Golden Earth Girl
Golden Earth Girl is another Macca gem. Love it. I also love the 2 Elvis collaborations on OTG. Too bad they didnt write more together. But some of the songs on OTG make me cringe - Peace in the neighborhood, C'mon People, Looking for Changes, the title song - ughhh. Talk about forced. Some of his worst songs ever, imo.

RE: What’s your favorite 3 album run from Macca?
I would say his next 3 albums after Electric Arguments will be his best

RE: What’s your favorite 3 album run from Macca?
For me, its McCartney thru Wildlife, & dont forget the Another Day single. Its the best patch of songs McCartney has written, up there with his Beatle days.

RE: George's criticisms of Macca
larainefan:
I thought I read somewhere that John and Ringo kind of publicly put down Paul's first solo album, and that George said something nice about it?
Yeah, George had nice things to say about 'Maybe I'm Amazed', 'That would be something', when the album came out. I think George soured as the 70s when on, as the critics (and fan reception) seemed to get worse album after album, then there was the My Sweet Lord lawsuit, his record label dropping him, etc. I think he took some of it out on being a "Beatle", and he became more resentful of Paul (& John) in public. Thats my opinion. People forget by 'Gone Troppo' (1983) his low point, he was not held in high regard at all by critics and fans and the public.

RE: George's criticisms of Macca
I remember George being particularly negative on Paul during the late 70s. In particular, his 1977 Crawdaddy interview.

RE: McCartney III a possibility?
MII is Macca's best collection of song craftsmanship since Abbey Road. Hope he experiments again & does a MIII. Like Linda said..."with lots of guitar"

RE: Lennon & Elton at MSG 1974
Why in the world would John appear in a Tribute for Lew Grade? Didnt he screw the Beatles out of their publishing rights in 1969 by buying (with ATV/Sony) the L/M publishing rights on their songs??
