Ringo's never been a strong singer.... and he's often off-key. But it's usually at least passable. I've seen several of Ringo's All-Starr band tours, and he does alright. But after watching clips all the clips from last night, Ringo sounded really bad. If they do indeed release the show as a live album or a DVD, I wonder if Ringo will be able to re-record his vocal track.
Yes, he sounded bad, but does that matter really?
It matters in the sense that I mentioned.... a potential DVD release could technically be thwarted due to Ringo's sour vocals. I don't know if they would want to put that out there, as is.
There's lots of DVD with poor vocals and no-one expect perfection from Ringo anyway.
There's a big difference between Ringo's usual typical live vocals.... and the vocals he displayed at Radio City. Yes, no one expects perfection from Ringo. But was time was almost embarrassing. Hopefully in post-production, they can separate the vocals from the music, and have Ringo come to a studio and record a new part (sorta like what Paul did for the Live Aid DVD.... though that was a little different, since his vocals were missing in the first place)
He probably doesn't have to re-record anything. His performance is nothing that Auto-Tune or Melodyne can't fix.
