@john-mackintosh I actually went to college around the corner where that drug store allegedly was but never successfully located it (this was before Google Maps after all). I do remember the local news reporting on when he was in town for an event his stepdaughter was throwing. It was that same visit where he wandered into that shop and got the "Run Devil Run" song title.
Did you go to GSU? I did - it was just down the street from the Rexall! I used to catch the bus there at Five Points.
P.S. Paul & his daughter Heather (not step-daughter: he adopted her) were in Atlanta Jan. 7, 1999. They were here for a showing of her pottery at the Merchandise Mart.
I did go to GSU and operated mainly over at the School Of Music on the other side of the Rialto. Never had much luck locating that drug store sadly.
I got my BS in Nursing at GSU in 1981. Remember The Library which was actually a restaurant? (but had lots of books in it) And that great pizza place on the corner near Five Points?
I graduated in 2003. Not sure if those places were still there while I attended. The last semester before I graduated they actually opened a little pub called Sidebar right next to the School Of Music. Probably best I graduated when I did because I probably would have attended that little bar too much.
Fun fact: near the beginning of the movie Baby Driver the lead actor actually walks around the School Of Music. It was quite surreal.
