I was there last night, and the show was fantastic. He was in great form, and it was really cool being with my sister who had never seen a show. She doesn't know his stories, so it was neat to see her reactions to them, and they hit spot on with people who have no clue. I was honestly disappointed in the crowd, though. The people around me sat for the entire concert, only standing for the beginning, the end, and the John and George tributes. They didn't even dance to 1985. How do you sit for that song? The crowd was deafening at the encores, though. One woman said, "He never comes back out twice!" Ha! So clearly, people don't get tired of the same old stories/setlist because most people have never heard them before or don't remember them. I was disappointed that people took their beer breaks for the new songs like My Valentine and Everybody Out There. It must be discouraging to see the crowd disperse when breaking out the new stuff. My sister loves My Valentine and was very glad he sang it and very surprised when people didn't seem to respond to it. He sang it very well. Maybe I'm Amazed was great, too. I always get kinda nervous when he breaks out the the high songs, but he did excellent. Here Today was also better than the last time I heard it. His voice was clear, no breaks. It hit the spot. Fave songs of the evening: Let Me Roll It (always my fave), Live and Let Die, All Together Now, Helter Skelter, and the Medley. They're always so much fun! I love singing along to All Together Now!

RE: New Orleans/Louisville/Albany/Pittsburgh - Pre-sale Thread
Just got 2 for NOLA, but not in the spot that I wanted. I wanted the $257 tickets, but they kept saying unavailable. So I got the $160. Happy I got the tickets, but I wish I could have gotten the better seats.

Looks like Ticketmaster only has VIP tix on sale tomorrow, 4/9. Is this correct? Any one know how much the VIP tix cost? I guess if one goes thru Paul's site tomorrow it will take one to CrowdSurge and one can buy regular tix tomorrow.
They have other prices listed on TM. I don't even see the VIP package there.

^^^What side were you on? The left pit was super organized, the security did a really good job of kicking out all of the people who tried to cut in line and even divided us up into groups of 200 to make sure no one was pushed or trampled while going into the pit. They really did an A+ job, totally the opposite of what I've seen at most festivals (and that includes Roo two years ago).
I didn't even know there was a left pit! We were on the right. None of that happened on the right side, although they did section us off according to a guy who was holding up a sign. But it was still very uncomfortable because we had to stand so tightly packed for the entire Wilco set to maintain our positions in line. The Safety people were told when there were line cutters, but claimed they couldn't do anything.

This was hands down one of the best Macca shows I've seen. I don't think I'll ever experience crowd energy like that in the U.S. again. I overheard people raving about the show for the rest of the weekend! Not to mention, I've had several friends come to me and admit they were wrong all these years and after seeing him they totally understand why I love him so much! Awesome feeling!
Paul seemed really happy to see some regulars in the crowd, too! Thanks Rick G for the amazing pictures...as always
A great buzz around his Bonnaroo appearance. Great to see. Glowing reviews in the rags, and a great, great reception from the crowd.
No doubt! Here's a little before and after from Rick's pictures...to show just how exciting this show was
Pre-show in the 2nd row! http://www.flickr.com/photos/41674530@N02/9058935555/in/set-72157634177991372 Aaaaand celebrating afterwards: http://www.flickr.com/photos/41674530@N02/9061414044/in/set-72157634177991372 http://www.flickr.com/photos/41674530@N02/9059170463/in/set-72157634177991372 The energy was insane! I still can't get over it!!!
Amazing! Well done to you, Rick and Keri getting second row. I know how you manage to do it for regularly ticketed shows, but it's quite something to be able to persevere in the midst of a mob and get so close for a GA gig! How did you do it? Was it a stampede?
My mom and I got there incredibly early, as soon as they opened the field a bit after noon. We eventually found the pit line after it had already formed because we didn't know there was one. We got in line at about 2:00 p.m. The biggest frustration was line cutters and having to pee and eat. It didn't get that bad until closer til the show started when people started getting antsy for a spot. We stood stock still, completely packed in. We were close to the last spot guaranteed for a spot in the pit, so it was a little nerve-wracking, thinking our hard work would be for naught. When they opened the gates, it was like a flood hitting us in the back, pushing us forward until we spilled onto the field. Then people scrambled to get a space close to the stage. We were about 10 rows deep, but it still a spectacular view. It was a HARD wait, I won't lie. But it was so, so worth it.

Here is my Bonnaroo report! http://percythrillington.tumblr.com/post/53219296666/i-just-saw-my-idol-in-concert-my-mom-took-these Also, in addition to this, I was surprised to see a pic of Linda and the kids side by side with a pic of Yoko and Sean during Paul's new mothers tribute. It was oddly touching.
Loved your report!
Thank you!

RE: Washington, DC, National's Park, July 12th 2013 - ARCHIVE
Hey, everyone! I just finished my McCartney week at Bonnaroo. The Paul/James part was awesome, and the rest of it was pretty cool, too. I stood in line for the pit for Paul all day long and was about center stage, 10 people deep. I was so close that it was amazing. However, I'm feeling in a bit of a post-concert depression. I want to experience a Paul concert where it is ONLY Paul, not a festival, because the rest of the festival sort of colors the experience a little. I see there are still tickets available for DC, and I love DC and Paul. However, Bonnaroo was freaking expensive, and a flight to DC plus tickets plus hotel will be expensive too. I'm trying to decide what to do. I have a feeling Paul will do a concert in England in December because he usually does. I thought about seeing that and making it a trek, but I'm in school so there's no guarantee. Advise me, Paul-concert experts. Help me decide what I should do!

This will be my first Paul McCartney experience and my first Bonnaroo experience. I am a little scared about the festival type concert though because I don't think it'll be the same as a regular concert. I'm afraid the general atmosphere won't be as good. Should I keep this ticket, or should I try for one of the Indianapolis tickets?
