Well I didn't think today would be the day I cross off "Oh Darling" from the "Paul's never gonna do these live" list.
Even as a duet, color me amazed. That was fun.
Keeping the good music around for my generation.

Was also in Knoxville. There is definitely stubble LOL.
LetMeRollIt, where the heck were the back gates? Media told everyone to get there early for parking and as a result, there was a huge cluster at all the doors when they opened, and it took ages to get inside. Very disorganized and the heat didn't help. We were there very early for limo watch and then had a ton of time to waste because Paul arrived before 4:30, which is super-early for him. If I had known how bad the doors would be, we would have camped out near one so as to be first in.
Knoxville had a great, loud crowd which Paul acknowledged several times. His voice definitely sounds better live. He did take a drink before the platform solo set, and also took another one right before Live and Let Die.
John - Coming Up gets done in soundcheck sometimes and does sound great with the horn section. It would be fun if he put it into the set.
And it seems that Women and Wives has disappeared; I thought he was doing it on alternate nights, but during a discussion about it after the show, I checked setlist.fm, and it seems that it has not been performed since Fort Worth. Which is disappointing. I am glad I caught it in Seattle (at a show and a soundcheck).
Will see if I can remember anything else unique to Knoxville...
When I walked out of the parking garage, those gates were soooo backed up. I walked off to the side where the parking lot was and walked all the way around to the other side of the arena. There were two gates back there that had way shorter lines. When the doors opened, they split the lines into smaller ones and opened more doors. Got right in. It was very disorganized in the lobby area though. Once the souvenir and food stand lines overlapped with the other foot traffic, things got tight! Still not as big a mess as when I went to Candlestick Park in '14.
And yes, I noticed the crowd as well! Very responsive. He stopped multiple times to acknowledge that (not just the "drink it in" routine). "Something" got a very loud response in particular. Especially when the whole band kicks in. I was hoping Paul wouldn't say anything in advance about John in "I've Got a Feeling". I think if he just surprised everyone, the crowd would be even louder once he appeared on screen singing.
"Women and Wives" reminds me of when he brought "On My Way to Work" out to Albany and then it disappeared...lol.
So did he wait to tell the Peter Jackson story AFTER he sang "with" John? I know at one concert he screwed up and told the story first which spoiled the surprise.
He explained the whole thing *before* the song. I already knew about it, but I'm sure many didn't. He mentioned Peter Jackson coming to him about how it's possible to do it and have John join him on screen. Then he did the song.

Knoxville in the books. My first Macca show in 5 years did not disappoint! Just a few observations and notes randomly collected throughout:
- The new Get Back footage, plus "Get Back" being in the main set as opposed to the encore set, was a highlight for me. I would've loved to see it be the opener for the "Got Back" tour.
- Abe's "Dance Tonight" routine as enjoyable as ever. Just put a big smile on my face.
- Water bottle! One sip mid-show. A rarity to see. Not sure if that's become common on this tour.
- Possibly (somehow) the best "Here Today" vocal I've heard in a decade of tours, in my opinion.
- The horn section!!! What an enhancement to a lot of these tracks. I missed the last tour, so this was new for me. "Letting Go" and "Got To Get You Into My Life" beefed up and sounding awesome. But the swelling brass throughout the "Hey Jude" chorus took it to a new level of euphoria.
- Nothing from McCartney III? I was really hoping something would make the setlist. I love how Paul singled out "New" as a new song (going on 9 years). I think that album is aging well and it was nice to have it in the setlist.
- Sitting in the aisle by an usher revealed an alarming number of fans complaining about the Ticketmaster app tickets. Groups of people with all the tickets on one person's phone - combined with having to show tickets anytime entering the main floor - really seemed to irritate many and create extra foot traffic. Seems like a lot of people who haven't gone to a concert in awhile.
All in all, I loved it. Coming off that break, the Get Back film, the pending 80th birthday - I think it just created a wonderful mood for me to sit back and enjoy the show.
It's a hot one today. The lines in the front gates were three times as long, so luckily I went to the back gates and got right in. Grabbed a program ($50!!) but it's a hefty one.
Didn't see a thread for this gig, so I'm starting one. I'll see about dropping some pics here after the show. Been a few years since my last Macca concert, but I'm usually able to get something posted here. Grabbed some dinner and the first song that came on the radio was "My Brave Face". I know that won't turn up in the setlist, but it was nice to catch that nonetheless.
My biggest concern right now is parking. Gonna try and get there pretty early. If anyone else here is going, enjoy the show!
For me, it was getting to hear "Long Tall Sally" at Candlestick Park in 2014. I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation, and when he mentioned he was gonna do the last song the Beatles did at Candlestick Park, I blacked out. I knew it was coming. And it was glorious.
I think at the time it was only the 2nd performance of it in like 30 years. I could be mistaken. I know he did it with Grohl and co. in Seattle a year or two prior to that. But otherwise you have to go back to Prince's Trust in the '80s.
I also loved hearing "Your Mother Should Know", which didn't stay in the list long once NEW came out. It was bumped when "New", "Everybody Out There", "Queenie Eye" and "Save Us" entered the list.
A-list concerts in the 2020s are brutal in my experience so far. Everything just costs more. It sucks. For example, I saw The Eagles in 2019, paid less than $200 for floor seats at United Center. They just came back last month and those same floor seats started at nearly $300.
I missed the last tour when Paul came to Moline, IL (closest show to me on that tour), and at the time I said I was good if 2017 was my last Macca concert, when I had 4th row center in my home town of Tinley Park, IL. It couldn't get better for me. Then the pandemic came and for the first time in my lifetime, I faced the grim reality that he may never tour again. Now the tour is here and after these last few years, I'm ready for one more ride. Closest show is an 8 hour drive and since I bought my ticket, gas prices are insane. Add that to my ticket price, I've had to accept this is going to be an expensive run. But if it's the last, so be it. But it's just me. If I took a whole family with, there's no way I could swing it. There should be family packs for sale.
At the end of the day, my complaints aren't with Paul. They're with Ticketmaster and their fees and atrocious "platinum seat" program that pricegouges based on demand. Turned a $200 seat into $700. I was lucky to get my ticket at face value, but after all their taxes and fees, it came out to much more than I wanted to spend. That's the aggravating part.
I watched it all last night with a fellow fan. We both enjoyed it. I was not disappointed, nor surprised, that it would be Beatle-heavy. Some of the same stories, but a few bits I learned for the first time. I'd watch more. I just love watching him play with the mix and listening to these songs and tracks. You can see on certain songs the excitement he gets when hearing it, especially isolated tracks.

Did anyone else get a surprise package from Capitol Records? Inside is a small silver pouch containing 3 dice, with number 3 on 5 sides, and McCartney on the 6th side.
I've been seeing that on social media today. Pretty cool! I wonder how people were selected to get that?
