I have followed and been a fan of the Beatles and Paul for the past 49 years. I have lived through the hippie movement, the peace movement, etc. I am familiar with their/his statements (usually musically) on politics and what was going on in the world. However, what I have had deep disappointment for is that Paul has swung over to the side of all the other artists who seem to think that they know what is best and that they are going to use their celebrity to encourage people to do things their way. I am speaking about his vocal support for President Obama. Not only does he simply leave it at that, but he now is telling his fans, on You Tube to vote for Obama. There are way too many sheep who will follow blindly. The first time I saw Obama's image on the screen behind Paul at one of his concerts, I was really disappointed. It had no place there. I went to several concerts thereafter and always cringed when that moment would come up...actually had hoped he had come to his senses and realized this was not the time or place. It kind of deflated the mood and the momentum of the concert and the energy. Was this a subliminal political rally? But, anyway. I am not an Obama hater. I think he has very good qualities and good ideas (on the surface). Do I think he is misguided? Yes. Do I think there are underlying intentions behind all the beautifully wrapped rhetoric? Yes. Sorry....getting away from my point. My point...Dear Sir Paul, is that unless you fully understand EVERYTHING that is going on and more importantly, all the consequences which can arise out of some of these decisions, then please PLEASE don't use your celebrity to TELL people how to vote. Why not encourage people to vote...to read all the issues...to understand all the plans...and to make their own decision? I believe in issues from both parties. Neither party has it 100% right. But, I don't think a vote should be cast on a personal belief of 1 or 2 issues which are close to us...but instead should be cast on the big picture. That's all. Sorry so long.
