RE: Fresno, CA - Save Mart Center - April 13th - ARCHIVE
Very disappointing setlist indeed. How does one drop Another Girl from the set and keep a lame tune like Save Us and a worn out tune like Let Me Roll It in the set? Astounding. I wonder if any of his band mates suggested Silly Love Songs or No More Lonely Nights or I Want To Hold Your Hand or She Loves You? What a disappointing retread, especially given the $$$ charged for tickets.

If it goes quiet in a few songs and he sings an intro that goes "I can wait another day" I'll sh*t bricks. Just saying.

Letting Go is one of his absolute best kick ass rockers! Unlike Save Us - which is a steaming turd that should have been gone from the setlist long ago.

Fantastic opener!! Can't wait to hear Paul do his "when I'm home everything seems to be right" line 51 years later!!

Ok, how close to showtime are we now? Anyone?

RE: Set List critique
What would suck is if he opens with Eight Days A Week, followed by Save Us, followed by Let Me Roll It. That would really suck.

RE: Set List critique
Thanks for the comments And don't get me started on how we'll never ever again see the Rickenbacker bass. The Rick is kinda like Luke's lightsaber - Paul hasn't been seen with it the past 30 years. Perhaps he lost it in the Cloud City. Maybe it needs to be presented to him on a mountain top by a girl dressed like a scavenger. Maybe then he would play it again.

RE: Set List critique
I wonder if they'll do raindrops sound loop and bass riff intro when he plays No More Lonely Nights tomorrow night? I just hope he doesn't mess up the lyrics on Spies Like Us or Press. So long as he plays Long And Winding Road and Let Me Roll It, I'll be happy. Opener will be MMT or Drive My Car.

RE: Set List critique
I'm betting he opens with Magical Mystery Tour or Drive My Car. Second tune might be Flaming Pie. I just hope he plays Let Me Roll It and Long And Winding Road. Now THAT would shake things up!

RE: Set List critique
So what are the chances we'll hear Silly Love Songs and see the Rickenbacker for the first time in 25+ years? Any bets?

The Dean guy is the interviewer for the Say Say Say writing discussion - video just posted on opening page of this website.

RE: THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
Wow...in the new interview video with Dean Bradfield, Paul actually sings about 2 seconds of Say Say Say now - albeit in funny voice to contrast how he tried to emulate MJ's vocal style on the recording. Would be amazing to hear Paul sing his middle eight break from that song now: "You Never Ever Worried And You Never Shed A Tear" - the original recording of that line is the best Paul vocal ever I believe - a magic take. On one of his better vocal days in 2015, wonder what it would sound like singing it now? I do believe he could still reach the notes on a good day and when warmed up... : :

RE: Set List critique
Can't believe that "Save Us" is still in the set list. It's a lame/weak excuse for a rocker and a mediocre B side at best IMO. Just no punch to it and rather ugly chorus and harmonies as well. With exception of the song "New" - a truly great pop song - most of the New album is quite mediocre. Nowhere near on par with MAF or Chaos.

RE: THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
Very surprised at postings on here as to "what's the point' and "can't tell any difference" on the Tug of War remix... Seriously?? Just heard remix of the title track and it is a REVELATION!! Very different mix on vocal /backing vocals and string backing as well (sounds like alternate string parts appear the new remix). Different sound also in electric guitar/bass/string overall balance & sound when the "In Years To Come" section kicks in. The snippet of Ebony & Ivory remix I heard also sounds amazing - much more defined bass drum and synth sound - sounded like an all new recording. So much better than the usual "remaster" which is just the same old mix with supposedly improved sound that is not even noticeable most of the time. Can't wait to hear the whole remix TOW!!

RE: Set List critique
Interestingly, and supported by other posts from those in the audience, Paul has actually sung Maybe I'm Amazed quite well the past week or so. Amazing what his voice still has when he's really warmed up and psyched in the moment! I still believe he could pull off Silly Love Songs or No More Lonely Nights on a good night. Wish oh wish!!

RE: Set List critique
Temporary Secretary sounded great at the 02 show. A fantastic addition. Really miss Jet as the second song though. And do not understand why Save Us is still in the set - a lame weak tune not up to par with Paul's better rockers - not even close. Wish oh wish that No Values would find its way onto the set list - along with Silly Love Songs and No More Lonely Nights. Now that would be something! Really would be something
