It's time for Paul to perform a new set list, his concerts are starting to sound stale. Maybe add a few Beatles songs that he's never performed like Martha my dear, Maxwells Silver Hammer, Honey Pie, When I'm 64, What you're doing, Hold me tight etc. He could also do a few songs that were written for others like World without love, Woman, that means a lot, step inside love and goodbye. Why not add some Wings songs that he hasn't performed like When the night, Little lamb dragonfly, Mamunia, With a little luck, Heart of the country, Monkberry moon delight and Smile away and some solo stuff like Junk, Waterfalls and Man we was lonely. He could still do some songs that he always performs like Yesterday, Band on the run, Let it be etc, It just showcases his amazing repetoir. He needs to do this to make his concerts more interesting and to add a new lease of life to them.

RE: Should Paul give his proceeds to the poor?
I find it offensive that I receive emails from Paul asking for everything from concert tickets to cd's and collectables. I love Paul and the music he's produced but I feel offended that he's asking for more money from his fans. I don't expect him to play for free but I would be much more likely to pay for things if I knew the poor were benefitting from his proceeds because as I said Paul is rich enough and certainly doesn't need any more money.

RE: Should Paul give his proceeds to the poor?
The trouble with people donating and remaining anonymous is it gives the ones that don't donate an easy out. Their should be a public register for the most wealthy people in the world and it should show how much they earn and how much they donate. Shaming them into giving is the way to go.

RE: Should Paul give his proceeds to the poor?
I'd say that if anyone has incredible wealth there should be a cap on how much a person can personally own, there is too much suffering in the world. People like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet and Australia's Dick Smith do donate amazing sums to different causes but really you have other Billionairs who are only interested in making more money. James Packer earns most of his money from casinos which I think is immoral and should be outlawed. If people who are filthy rich continue to make incredible amounts of money then they should be forced to give large sums to the poor. World poverty could be obliterated if the world's filthy rich donated in a big way.

Should Paul give his proceeds to the poor?
Paul McCartney is probably a billionaire by now and at 71 he continues to tour the world, sell merchandise and receive royalties which would be in the multi millions. He has more money than he'll ever be able to spend so imagine how amazing it would be for Paul to donate every cent he earns from this moment on to the poor in the world. Imagine the legacy he would leave if he was to commit to such an amazing gesture. Paul has always had a reputation for being a skin flint but this is one way that he could put this to bed. I don't know if Paul reads these forums but if he does then I would like to think he would respond in some way, thoughts?

RE: Paul's New Album-- "New"-- CONFIRMED

Lennon's early works like 1970 and Imagine are by far his best solo work. Of course he's had his moments on his other albums but the two albums I've mentioned are far and away his best work since the Beatles. They are the equal of Ram and McCartney.
1970? What John Lennon album is that? Do you mean Plastic Ono Band?
Yes.

My ratings are McCartney - 8 out of 10 Ram - 9 Wild Life - 4 Red Rose Speedway - 8 Band On The Run - 8 Venus and Mars - 7.5 Speed of Sound - 7.5 London Town - 6.5 Back To The Egg - 6.5 McCartney II - 6 Tug Of War - 8 Pipes Of Peace - 5 Press To Play - 1 Flowers In The Dirt - 7.5 Off The Ground - 5.5 Flaming Pie - 6 Driving Rain - 5 Chaos and Creation - 6 Memory Almost Full - 7 Electric Arguments - 2 New - 1
Well, at least there are some highlights for you after "Tug Of War". I was expecting all 1's!
He/She is the only won on the planet earth that would think "New" deserved a grade of 1 and EA a grade of 2.
EA was what it was, a mish mash of sounds, melodies, experimental. I totally get it and I judge it on it's relative merits. New on the other hand has been recorded as a commercially viable record and from what I've heard it fails miserably as an album. The only song that I like is New, In my opinion it's his worst effort to date fractionally behind Press To Play.
That is fine, I have already said you are entitled to your opinion and never said you were wrong. I just stated you are probably the only one who would rate "New" and "EA" that poorly including rock critics who don't like McCartney. Just curious if you have the time, rate Lennon solo works for me.

Obviously you havent been to any of Pauls shows the last 10 years. He still puts on a live show that rivals anyone in the music industry. He loves what he does and keeps on working. Im surehe doesnt do it for the money. He just loves writing singing and.putting on a top of the line show for his fans. I think Paul has earned the right to continue as long as he likes. Ill keep buying his albims and attending his shows.
I have no issue with his live shows, they are great. But his new songs on the whole are a huge disappointment. I did love My Valentine and a few songs on Memory Almost Full but his latest offering has left me very cold and as I said his singing is very poor which he mostly gets away with in his live shows.
Interesting that your desire for him to hang it up is based on his studio efforts rather than his live performances. I know a few who take the opposite view since his singing voice at concerts can much be more raw and less subject to complimentary enhancement through recording studio technology. They prefer he drop live performances in favor of exclusive studio work. I say bring it on it live and in the studio. In writing off everything since Tug of War that is condemning thirty years of some unforgettable music, such as the likes of that contained on Flaming Pie and my personal favorite, Chaos and Creation. To each his own.
I'm not writing everything off since Tug Of War as there has been some really good stuff but I feel his very high standard has slipped and after I heard New I was very very disappointed. Paul can't go wrong at his concerts because the songs are so brilliant but I really feel he's harming his legacy the longer he writes and records.
