Hello All!
Is there going to be a special PM.com presale? Or is the presale only through American Express?
Good luck to everybody,
Michael
What a fantastic gift for the NYC fans! I relocated to Chicago eight years ago, but man, I would have been there too, goosebumps and all. I am so glad you all had a wonderful night. Reminds me of the Lyceum Theater gig in August of 1989, but that necessitated waiting in line all day. This sounds like a much more humane way to have done it. His voice sounded wonderful on the YouTube video of Matchbox and I am sure that My Valentine must have been special. Well done!

sorry for your loss. try contacting MPL directly. I'm not sure how. I've never thought of doing it another idea is to try to get a reporter interested in your story that might filter through to Paul or his team. good luck. The sign idea is good, but if he's not on the floors Paul might not see it anyway enjoy the show. The best way to enjoy a McCartney show is with your family. oh and let us know what you thought of the show!!
Dear Single Dad, I am so sorry for your and your son's loss. My wife was gravely ill with breast cancer a few years ago when my daughter was only a year old. I looked to Paul and his music at this time because of the way he met the challenge of Linda's illness with such bravery and dignity, and it is clear he always puts his family first?one of the reasons why I have the utmost respect for the man beyond his incredible art. At the time, I tried to contact him through MPL and his publicist, just to reach out and to say thanks for providing a model for how to handle such fearful moments and to guide a family through the worst possible consequences. It's an amazing gift to see such perseverance and positivity in those moments, and I wanted him to know it doesn't go unnoticed. I never got a reply, but that wasn't why I wrote it. I know if you make your request, you will feel a certain satisfaction just reaching out. I hope your son does get to meet him. I will be wishing for it with all my heart, as I think many people here will. But you should also know that Paul's shows are really quite transformative because of the history involved, the raw emotion shared by both performer and audience. Also, your son will be sharing this with you, his father, who I am sure is even more a hero to him than Paul is, because of your love and what you have both endured. I am sending you a PM with other information that I hope is useful. Sending strength and warmth to you both.

Ok. Here's the link: http://www.yellow-sub.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8469[/url]
Yeah...a couple of those are different. I thought early days was Early Beatles. Not early in the history of music!
That was possibly a conscious decision to avoid fusing a Beatle undertone to the video. The single "New" is the most blatantly Beatley thing Paul has ever done in his solo career, and it did not excite radio at all. But it's best to reserve judgment sicne we haven't seen the actual thing yet, and these stills may be just the "performance" shots. There may be other story-line shots that might feature The Fab Four-era of Paul's life.
I expect you may be right about the video.
And once again, Johnny Depp shows up in a Macca video. 20 Forthlin Road meets 21 Jump Street.

I am very surprised that there is not a better system for his fan base to get a better crack at tickets.
Ah yes, The good ol days of Paul"s "Club Sandwich ", we'd get a letter asking if we wanted to buy a ticket before they went on sale. I think we all got seats in the same area too.I remember asking fans around us how they got their tickets & everyone was saying ,thru Paul's club. At that time, those were the best seats I ever had for Paul.... Nice seats, all because we were in his club.... CHICAGO, HERE I COME !
I remember getting seats at MSG through the Fun Club in 1989 that were good, not great, for the first and last nights. It was probably because we were three seats together. In 1993, it was a different story, and my brother an I sat in the 12th row center at Giants Stadium. I have to say, I was very impressed in 2011 when I was able to pull up two 4th row seats through website's pre-sale in the $250 price range. This time around, during the United Center pre-sale, it just didn't seem possible. Perhaps those seats are now designated under the VIP packages.
I also got shut out of tickets (at least so far) on Crowdsurge. But it's a long way until the concert, and there will be multiple opportunities to get seats. Yes, some get thrown back in but good ones will become available again, so don't despair.
Awful experience on Crowdsurge. Can't find a thing and was on at 10 AM.

Assuming ( and I know what they say about assumptions ) that a 2nd show is added to Chicago, will the presale probably start almost unannounced? I know promoters like to keep the 2nd show under wraps to ensure demand for the first, and once they have seen a majority of the good seats go, the second just pops up. In this case, do we just need to hang around the crowd surge page to see if it appears or will Paul give us a little ad mace warning. In sure there has been a president for this.
I highly doubt that the 2nd show will be added during the presale, most likely it won't be "official" until at least the day of the regular/general on-sale, whenever that is (am too lazy to check. ops: ). If they add it on that day, there won't be any presale. It will just go on sale--boom. If they wait a week or so to do a big announcement ("first show sold out!! second show added!" ) as they did with Wrigley Field in 2011, there will be a separate presale for Show 2.
Yes, as I recall that is how it happened in 2011.
Fantastic. I am not teaching at Northwestern University this quarter (just advising grads) and so I have some time to jump online and try and secure tickets during the presale! Good luck all!
Greetings All, I am an artist based in Chicago, and wanted to let you know about a project I have that is on view at Rhona Hoffman Gallery, located at 118 North Peoria Street in the West Loop that may be of some interest. The exhibition is titled The Breakup and runs through February 22. There will be a panel discussion on the project on Saturday, February 15 at 3 PM. The event is free, and it would be nice to meet some forumites there. You can find out about the exhibition here: http://www.rhoffmangallery.com The entire project, including the original radio program broadcast in Ramallah and Jerusalem can be found here: http://the-breakup.net/home.html Cheers, Michael
Hmmm... This is an illusion of process. The poll lists songs that would likely be in the setlist, along with a couple of outliers like Long Tall Sally, which was performed on the US leg of the tour in Seattle, and Mull of Kintyre (which is currently winning). While one can write in votes, it likely won't be a song NOT listed here. All these songs have at the very least appeared in sound check, if not on the Out There tour setlist.

Sounds like a Fireman single.
Or one by The Rutles.

Hmmm, so this is the new album cover.....?! My first gut reaction is.....cool! Good, I think I like it. It has a Euro-artsy-pop feel. Quite hip and modern. It looks like something you might see in a trendy art gallery -minimalist...(simple shapes or strokes evoking a bigger meaning)....fluorescent tubes with kitsch colours (retro 80s feel is hip).....set against a textured background. Edgy. Based on reports of this being a very eclectic album (well, aren't all his albums and the best Beatles' albums like that?), this kind of mysterious cover might fit the bill. Me likes it!
It is clearly quoting the work of Dan Flavin, one of my favorite artists. He has a permanent installation of work at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. http://www.moma.org/explore/multimedia/audios/34/805

What do you think of the idea Nancy learning some keyboards and joining Paul's band? Let's consider the idea, I know you're "Out There". With A Little Luck Band On The Run Another Day Backseat Of My Car Hey Jude
Wow, what a brilliant thread. I love the idea. Don't stop there. Jane Asher and Francie Schwartz could join too, as well as Rosanna Arquette, and even Heather Mills. Hell, they'd come up with a really fresh setlist for once. Awesome thread.

We just took our 6 year old (he'll be 7 next month) to the show in Washington D.C. and it was a great experience! He loves Paul's music, so I thought he would enjoy the concert. That said, we all know our individual kids and what works for one kid may not work for another. We prepared in advance to make it the best experience possible for whole family and every worked out great! He never complained once the entire night, even though the show started an hour late and ended at nearly midnight. He stayed awake the whole show and was really into much of it... especially his favorite songs, which are all the upbeat tunes!! We brought ear protection for him so that he wouldn't be alarmed by the sudden loud noise of 70,000 people screaming. We made sure that he rested in the afternoon before the show, 'cause we knew it would be a long night for him. We also brought his Nintendo DS which we let him play for some of the slow songs in the middle of the show, as well as at the end. I figured 3 hours would be a lot to make any kid sit through, so we brought his video game with us to insure that he wouldn't get board and overly antsy... worked like a charm! Again, not one single complaint the entire night! And he really enjoyed much of the concert... "Live and Let Die", with all of the fireworks and explosions wound up being his favorite song of the night. Loved "Mrs. Vandebilt" and "All Together Now" a lot, also! At the beginning of the show, when Paul took the stage, my boy was cheering just as loud as any other fan in that audience and he knew the words to every song all the way up until "My Valentine". In fact, he knew the words better than I even realized he knew them!! I was a very proud dad!!!
I'm taking my almost-seven year old tomorrow. Great advice on all accounts. I don't think she'll get bored since we are on the floor and might be a little crazy, but I am taking her for a bathroom break to get some calm down time from all the excitement. She is scared of Live and Let Die but I showed her a bunch of videos to show how far we'll be from the fireworks. I've got earplugs packed.
It's a hard decision for me , as I live in another country ( China ) and don't have relatives here to stay with the children. The only time I watched his show was in Brazil in 1993, during The New World Tour... I was 16 !! Since then there was no other opportunity for me And now, HE will be in Japan, 2 hours flight from Shanghai.... My son is 6, I'm sure he will be fine, but I have a 3 years old girl.... not easy at all.... Anyway, thank you all for the replies and advices .... Probably someday in the future they will be grateful to have had a chance to watch a Beatle show !!!
I've thought about this as I have a three-and-a-half year old daughter and she loves The Beatles. Paul just came through Milwaukee, and, living in Chicago, I thought it would be great to take her. My wife is 39 weeks pregnant, however, and it would not have been wise to go, so we never really even considered it once tickets went on sale. I took my daughter to see Johnny Clegg when she was about 16 months old, and she lasted half of the concert. If we went to see Paul, I would have bought cheaper seats far enough away from the throng of people on the floor, which I think can be intense for a little one. Also, close enough to concession stands and bathrooms. This might be something you want to consider. Your daughter may fall asleep in your arms, she may be awake and engaged the whole time. I know mine would have gotten overtired and uncomfortable enough at a certain point that we'd likely have had to leave early, but I'd have been perfectly fine with that, as she'd have seen Paul, and would have enjoyed at least some of the concert.

I've a feeling Australia is next. Say what you want, Moptops. Stop being so miserable. You're not going to get anywhere, and you're just making yourself look like an idiot.
Says the man who lives in a city and country where McCartney tours more than he has tepid, squishy vegetarian dinners! Moptops has access to some very accurate sources and is more of an optimist than you'll ever know. He is devastated and angry this time round as an Australian tour makes more sense off the back of a Japanese tour. His info is McCartney is not going to be touring Australia this year. So once again, Moptops, being the passionate fan that he is, is going to travel overseas to see him perform. You, on the other hand, are more likely to complain about and not travel to Philadelphia see to him! Australia deserves better from Paul. As does Denmark. To cancel and not return another time is quite within his right. Its the lack of respect for his fans and the frankly pitiful PR spin and excuses offered up that offends. Not only does he indulge in the most appalling revisionism of Beatles history he is a complete hypocrite. Did he cancel Madrid? No. Did he forgo playing in NYC immediately after 9/11? No, he played a benefit concert weeks later. Did he reschedule after using a bombing in Bali as an excuse to cancel his Melbourne show? No. Apparently, he felt he couldn't play as it would be an insult to memory of those who died. THAT'S the insult!!
It?s why I come on here less often. Because people attacked me for posting about how I?d like Paul to play a show for his home country as part of the Out There tour. It?s funny because the only people who attacked me, just happened to be seeing Paul multiple times this summer. So, I feel for you, Moptops. Just keep posting what you like. You?re not breaking any rules. I happen to think you?re a good guy who just wants to enjoy Paul as much as others have on here and it?s just frustrating. Nothing wrong with having passion. I think the problem is that, so far, the tour is quite disproportionate. There are too many dates in one country, and not enough elsewhere. I hope he does a few more Euro gigs near Christmas to make up for the appallingly small amount he?s played there this summer. And I won?t put the hopes up of Aussies on here? but I really have my fingers crossed for you guys. If I were an ageing multi-millionaire rockstar, I?d be playing for the fans all over the world just out of gratitude and for fun? not because it makes the most money in certain places. Everyone on here deserves to see Paul, no matter where they?re from. There should be no fan hierarchy, because sometimes it feels like that on here.
Great post. I live in New Mexico, which is in the USA, but it practically another country. McCartney plays markets that are 400 or 500 miles away. He played here before, why can't he do one more show here? I complain because I AM a fan! If I wasn't a fan, or was a casual fan, I wouldn't give a hoot. But I am getting there. Someone with McCartney's money can do a concert in New Mexico and take a pay cut for ONE night, and only make $1 million instead of $2 million. But business is business. But I understand and feel moptops' frustration. The argument is always "If your a fan, spend the money to go see Paul in another market." I've DONE that seven times! I'm not doing it ever again.
Thats a huge call saying moptops has very accurate sources. I work in the media so I know all about sources. This is the internet I could say I am friends with one of paul's staff and no one could dispute that. By the way im not thats just an example. Unless you work for the promoter in Australia or are to level in the industry. I highly doubt these sources. Negotiations are extremely secret so much so that the local media here have got it wrong many times about a McCartney tour. They themselves have only been speculating. I personally wouldn't be booking a trip to Japan based upon unconfirmed sources. But hey that is just me each to there own I guess.
I work in media too, and I have to say I have 2 or 3 very good sources: overseas and local (promoters). In the past they have been spot on accurate each time. I guess at the moment there is so much chat flying around - espousing all types of theories, that nobody can say for certain what is happening.
The truth of the matter is no one really knows its all speculation. It has been written about nearly every year for the past 10 years by supposed those in the know every time they were wrong. Im looking at you news limited papers.. Whatever happens will happen and we will hear in all likelihood via official channels. Rumours are rumours for a reason take them with a grain of salt.
If indeed it is true that Paul is not coming to Australia, then that is really too bad. It makes so much sense for Oz to be part of his tour, especially since he's touring Japan. And, to be completely honest, I would have hoped he would foreground Australia ahead of Japan if there was a choice to be made, as he toured there ten years ago and canceled his shows in Australia. Who knows. I hope we all end up pleasantly surprised and he tours Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, etc. I've been to Australia several times, and will be heading back there this year. I love it. Hope the rumors prove wrong and you mob get to see Macca this year!

Does anyone know if you can upgrade your ticket the day of the show at the will call office?
It's not impossible and worth a try, especially if you bought a $250 dollar ticket. My wife and I bought that price level for Leonard Cohen in Chicago, but our seats were not together?one seat in the seventh row, one in the ninth. I called TM a few hours before the show, they found two seats in the fourth row orchestra, and just switched our tickets at no charge. Good luck!

BEST. McCARTNEY-FAN.DIALOGUE. EVER!!!! So cool. Thanks for giving us the complete transcript. Amazing that you could think on your feet enough to have such a humorous and clever conversation during what must have been an immensely emotional and exciting moment. Even more amazing that you remembered it! So happy for you.
Harley, I don't often post, but read the boards all the time. Congratulations. It's thrilling and quite affirming to see such a devoted enthusiast for Paul's work have the chance to meet him. I can't think of anyone more deserving. Enjoy. And as others have stated, I can't wait to read your recap. Very best, Public Space
