As part of last year's tour, Ticketmaster sent me a form to fill out to receive a free CD from Paul. Since there was no album at the time, i am wondering if Egypt Station is going to be mailed to me. Can someone please advise if they know the answer? it will save me from buying it twice. Thakns.
I just purchased both Paul McCartney Austin City Limits 5 October and 12 October 2018 shows on CD and DVD! Both DVD's and CD's are Pro-Shot and Soundboard and are factory pressed CD's and DVD's and not cheap CD-R's and DVD-R's! I'll let all of you know when I get them, I know they will be good.
I've already got Fab's version & it is fab! LOL
That is great oobu, I'll let you know how mine turns out.
What if he did an LA area residence in the same manner. Two nights at Hollywood Bowl (last 2010), 2 nights in Anaheim at Honda Center (last 2005), 2 nights at Staples Center (12 years since Staples, 3 since Dodger Stadium) or something. Maybe throw in a San Jose or Vegas show in as well, since neither has seen a show for 6 and 12 years respectively.
After a successful inaugural event that saw rock legends like Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Who and more come together, Desert Trip will not return in 2017. Billboard reports that Goldenvoice's Paul Tollett confirmed the event will not take place. "Maybe someday in the future we'll do something similar," Tollett said. The cancellation comes amidst rampant rumors of a possible Led Zeppelin reunion at the festival, which grossed $160 million over two weekends in October of 2016. Robert Plant's website alluded to an impending announcement of something with a vague update that simply said: "Any time now...." The message prompted Zeppelin fans and media alike to suspect that the band might be reuniting for their 50th anniversary, however that rumor now appears to be a new Robert Plant solo record. Just got an email from Ticketmaster saying my ticket purchase through them comes with a physical cd of his new album. I know awhile back people were discussing this when the tour was announced but I was surprised to get this email this morning. Nice that all the money I spent on Paul tix comes with a nice, free little bonus - lol! Anyone else get this email?
Wow! After all this time? No, I didn't get the email, not before, not today, but I'll keep checking!
They did not give a time frame - exact email said my ticket comes with a physical cd of Paul's forthcoming album. I had to verify my address and the email said I would be among the first to receive the album when it becomes available. No other info. And I did not purchase my tickets with Amex - just got my tix through Ticketmaster using my Visa card
I couldn't decide which one I liked. Probably will take both. These are my signs I made! http//i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk103/paulielover_2008/IMG_1287.jpg http//i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk103/paulielover_2008/IMG_1288.jpg
In a recent concert vid Abe stood up playing the swish drums to "Love Me Do" I think and his backside was to me as it was shot from the side of the stage, and looked like he was twerking some (laughs) really working those buns, and Wix played harmonica so strikingly. In another number I saw Rusty strike some very dramatic poses with his guitar all of a sudden. Brian can seem so self effacing, even while being masterful on his guitar, but then he'll flash a big dazzling smile that conveys his delight to be taking part...there's never any doubt who is the main "Star" and the bandmates all defer to the Knight quite adroitly, yet they're all of a piece, all working together to create astonishing sounds and sights, especially sounds. (Blows kiss) And now that horn section of Liddypool boys is added to the mix to make the show even more of a stunner !
In the past few years The Rolling Stones have been releasing "From The Vaults" series - oficial releases of live recordings that have for years circulated as bootlegs. Those official releases have of course the best possible audio / video quality. Really nice treat for the fans. It would be great if the same was done with Beatles / ex-Beatles stuff. Of course, The Rolloing Stones fans moan that The Stones should do something like The Beatles Anthology
The difference is that the Stones made soundboard recordings of all those tours in the 70's and beyond. The Beatles didn't. As pointed out by Giles Martin when remixing The Hollywood Bowl album, those were the only shows ever officially recorded of The Beatles live. Yes, there are some good recordings but they were all from filmed or TV performances.
Replace HI HI HI and insert JET. Apparently was used one night this tour. Make it permanent! Please! Anyone else have others that they would like to be brought back? I have more but will let the board respond first
My Brave Face Hope of Deliverance Lonely Road - think it was only done for the 9/11 concert
"Lonely Road" made its debut at the 9/11 show, but was also in the setlist for the entire 2002-03 tour.
Thanks, was not positive it was on tour set list. Great song, would love to see it back.
______________________________________________________ It was definitely on the Setlist....went to the show in Philly. He did 3 songs from Driving Rain Lonely Road Your Loving Flame Driving Rain (the song) I remember attending the show with a good friend and fellow Beatle fan. He didn't like the album version of Driving Rain but though the "live" version was much better and he really liked Lonely Road and Your Loving Flame. At that time, Paul's voice was still very good. I thought the "live" Lonely Road sounded even better than the studio. Unfortunately, he didn't do About You (another missed opportunity of a great song).
"At that time, Paul's voice was still very good. I thought the "live" Lonely Road sounded even better than the studio. Unfortunately, he didn't do About You (another missed opportunity of a great song)." I loved "About You" and agree it was a missed opportunity !! Like most McCartney albums, his songs usually always sound better live than on the album especially guitar oriented album like DR. "Lonely Road" was not only a great song but I thought it was one of Mr. McCartney's better vocal performances.
Apples and oranges, I think, because Desert Trip is a completely different experience than a Paul show plus a soundcheck. obviously you get the 3 nights and the other 5 bands. And tickets are sold out, so you have to trust the secondary market for wristbands that are not fake, unless you buy from Viagogo, which is the official reseller for Desert Trip. So I think it just depends on whether you want to see Paul solely, or take in the weekend festival experience of Desert Trip which is Paul + 5.
