Mary Tyler Moore....age 80
Ah sh*t! You have to be kidding me! Not Mary Tyler Moore! I always loved her! Moore will always rank as one of the top 5 all-time greatest comediennes ever besides Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Cloris Leachman and Joan Rivers! R.I.P. Mary Tyler Moore, you will be missed.
Although I'm not exactly clear on this, I'm guessing her death was due to complications related to diabetes (based on the little info I'm getting from a news channel I'm currently listening to)

RE: Any chance of a Paul McCartney compilation disc that...
Wouldn't write off those yankees just yet - they always find a way to stay pesky even on their down years But I agree, the Sale signing was big for the Sox. Last year the Sox got a break out year from Porcello. But the rest of the staff, while not horrible, was far from consistent

RE: THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
Question for ya'll - and I'm sorry if it's already been discussed in this thread (too many pages for me to scroll through)...but are there any plans for any of Paul's side projects (including the fireman releases as well Twin Freaks and others)...I'd especially welcome a Twin Freaks (re)release

Any chance of a Paul McCartney compilation disc that...
...disgards the Beatles/Post Beatles line in the sand and just compiles a group of Paul's best songs from any period of his career? My guess is that it's possible some day - but unfortunately, it sounds more like a posthumous project for a generation down the line, questionable even within my own life time (I'm 52 y/o for frame of reference)

RE: Pure McCartney
It's official - my 2 and 4 disc versions have different versions (or mixes) of Dance Tonight. But to add to this - I bought the two disc version while on a visit to the UK to visit my daughter (who's in school over there). This set was purchased at the HMV in Norwich (Chapelfield Shopping Center) The 4 disc set was bought back here in the states, in my home town (Barnes and Noble in Framingaham, MA) The difference - on the two disc version, purchased in the UK, the bass doesn't kick in until half way through the second verse (meaning the second half of where Paul sings two verses in succession - after 'everybody's going to dance around...'. On the 4 disc version, it kicks in right at the beginning of the first verse, I mentioned this upon my arrival back from the UK in the 'lastest purchase' thread (was in the UK over Thanksgiving break - although there's no Thanksgiving over there...LOL)...at the time I didn't have the 4 disc set to compare it to. Just bought the 4 disc version last week just to spend a Barnes and Noble gift card I received for Christmas (I don't think I was going to buy the 4 CD version if not for that gift card...and I browsed a lot of sections of music and books before I made the plunge...LOL) I'm not sure if the difference was intended to be between the 2 and 4 disc sets or if it's a US vs UK thing...they both say 'Concord Music'. Any ideas on this?

I think that's two members from that cast to pass away in recent months

RE: THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
If there was some 'full show' version of Paul is Live, I'd buy it...a lot of songs omitted...the excuse was that there were a lot of duplicates from 1989/90 and it was the same band...but there was a lot left off...both new (at the time songs) as well as early solo and Beatles songs that were not performed during the 1989/90 tour (Off the Ground, Fixing A Hole, Every Night, Another Day are just a few that weren't dupes from Tripping the Live Fantastic, but left off nonetheless)...I'm pretty sure Live and Let Die was the only duplicated song.

Carrie Fisher has passed.
aww...and her mom said yesterday & earlier today that she is/was getting
Although death in general is sad, I particularly can't fathom the thought of a parent having to bury their own child...no matter how old that 'child' is

RE: Memory Almost Full has aged very well
HaileyMcComet:
This seems to be the pattern with Paul albums. When they come out, his fans either love them or hate them. Ten years later, there are a lot more in the love category. Twenty years later, they're all classics.
This is especially true when the said album follows an album that was universally recognized as an instant classic (as I was sort of alluding to above)

Very nice even though I didn't recognise a single person or creature,....apart from Macca of course.
They have a list of who's who in the description. I only recognised Jimmy and his band the Roots, Paul, Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson. Here's the list: Jimmy and The Roots join Paul McCartney, Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Seth MacFarlane and Tori Kelly for an a cappella rendition of "Wonderful Christmastime."
Yeah, I saw that but although I've heard of Reese Witherspoon & Scarlet Johansson, I wouldn't know what they look like. And the other names I've never even heard of.
Wow! That is surprising! As you might say, I am gobsmacked!
Besides Jimmy and Paul, Reese Witherspoon is the only other person I recognized

He has always readily admitted his fans know about him than he does

RE: Memory Almost Full has aged very well
PS - I think the biggest issue with Memory Almost Full was that it simply followed a masterpiece (Chaos and Creations)...it's pretty much the same effect suffered by Off the Ground (folks were expecting Abbey Road II after Flowers in the Dirt and in fact, the album fell a little short of Flowers, but was still very good)...Venus and Mars is now appreciated as one of Paul's better albums, but at the time, critics and some fans found it to be a let down after Band on the Run...I don't think Paul lives in a 'gotta top the last one' world...I feel like there's a quote I'm forgetting that actually disputes that - but if there is one, I'd still feel otherwise
