    • RE: Rockshow DVD Audio Issues/Replacement Discs

The DVD copy I own fades in and out regardless of which audio choice I use, and this is the problem many others are experiencing as well. And, I'm just using the speakers on a flat screen. I don't have a home theater system, so there are no setup issues. Other DVD's I own sound wonderful, but not Rockshow. The audio fades in and out frequently throughout the entire show. I have never had another DVD with an issue like this before.

    • Rockshow DVD Audio Issues/Replacement Discs

Hello, I don't even know where to begin with the audio issues that are present on my DVD copy of Rockshow, so I will just share what I've already posted on Amazon.com USA. My comments are in reference to the 2013 DVD, but apparently the Blu-Ray has the same issues. _____________________________________________________ I've been reading some of the reviews here regarding the audio issues with Rockshow, and I find myself scratching my head because I don't know whether my DVD is defective or if the audio issues were present in the source material that was used to create the DVD. While the audio is less than stellar, perhaps this is "as good as it gets" given the age of the concert and the source material used. I don't know, as this is the first time I am seeing Rockshow, I have nothing else to compare it to. I read in another forum that someone who saw Rockshow in the movie theater said the same audio issues that appear to be on the DVD were also present during the theater presentation. I know I could send my copy back and get a new one from Amazon, but until I have confirmation that there was indeed an issue with the way the DVD was manufactured, and a new copy will be better than the one I already have, a return seems pointless. In this case, It just seem hard to determine whether there was a manufacturing defect or if this is "as good as it's going to be"? If anyone hears back from Eagle Rock Entertainment that there was indeed a manufacturing defect and a replacement disc is being offered from Eagle Rock, please post here. --------------------------------------------- In the liner notes to the Rockshow DVD, it says something to the effect that the DVD was sourced from original audio and video masters. Since the 2013 DVD is a complete concert, the masters used to make the 2013 DVD may be completely different than the masters used to make the previously edited VHS/Laser Disc version of Rockshow or the Wings Over America CD. Honestly, I've never purchased a DVD with this type of audio issue before. I mean the audio fades or drops in and out throughout the entire show. The audio is never lost completely -- it just fades/drops in and out throughout the entire show. In that way, the DVD is consistent. It almost sounds like a cassette tape might end up sounding if it just sat on a shelf for 37 years, and then one day you decided to take it off the shelf and play it. Chances are the sound would have degraded somewhat in those 37 years. In my opinion, this is a mastering problem, not a pressing problem. A mastering problem suggests that the manufacturer sent the wrong version to be mass-produced for sale. Perhaps, the version that we have now that we consider "defective" is actually part of "the work in progress" where the video has been touched up or "remastered", but the audio has not been done yet. In essence what we may have is remastered video with original non-remastered audio. If that's the case, this might very well be the most interesting and collectible "defect" ever to hit store shelves. Hopefully, there is a finished version of Rockshow with both audio and video remastered, and Eagle Rock will notify us about a replacement. It they caught the problem midstream, perhaps only a portion of discs were affected. If they didn't catch it, then all the current discs on the market sound the same, and the problem won't be rectified until a new batch of discs are manufactured by Eagle Rock. I'm guessing at this, but it's the only thing that makes sense to me. ___________________________________ I contacted Amazon by phone on June 18, 2013, and asked them to check their stock of the Rockshow DVD for the audio defect. If they find the defect present in the remaining stock, the item will show that it is "under review" and become unavailable on Amazon. When new stock, hopefully corrected stock, becomes available the item will be available for purchase again. I was told that the process of checking stock takes up to a week. I will wait a while to see what happens before trying to get a replacement, as I would like to avoid getting multiple defective copies. I've also sent an e-mail to Eagle Rock about the problem. Address: Eagle House, 22 Armoury Way Wandsworth, London SW18 1EZ Tel: +44 (0)20 8870 5670 Fax: +44 (0)20 8874 2333 Email: mail@eagle-rock.com _____________________________________ If anyone here is experiencing audio issues, please post here. These defective discs need to be recalled, and replaced with corrected. non-defective discs. I hope someone is reading this and listening and deciding how to rectify this problem because there are a lot of complaints out there. http://www.amazon.com/Paul-McCartney-And-Wings-Rockshow/dp/B00CG0YMI8/ref=cm_cd_t_pb_t http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/bass-drop-outs-on-dvd-and-bluray-of-wings-rockshow-what-to-do.321070/ Thank you!!
