I'll start by being honest. Whilst I've admired Paul's music for years and respected his many campaigns for various sections of society, I could not class myself as a big enough 'fan' to join this site until the particular issue I'm about to raise came up, so apologies if that means my 'newbie' status invalidates my views and opinions for some of you. I wanted to draw attention to (and hopefully get some 'official' opinion from Paul on) the fact that he has recently signed for Starbucks record label. This is in spite of their recent publicized appalling treatment of Ethiopian farmers, by blocking attempts by Ethiopia to own the Trademarks associated with some of their specialty coffees. Starbucks manipulations of the National Coffee Association in the US (One of Starbucks directors is, I believe also on the board of this body) has stopped a much higher percentage of the huge profits generated in the fine coffee market, going to the poverty stricken growers. I for one would love to see Paul use his influence to get his recent new business partners to start living up to their much shouted image of a caring corporation.
