Bruce, I agree with you...the generic movie ballad comment especially.  Neither is bad, but neither is great.  That said, over the past couple of releases, more often than not the first songs out have been middle of the pack, with the real gems on the album.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that.  As I listened to it for the first time last night I was somewhat disappointed because both songs sound very flat, for a McCartney tune.  The ballad "I Don't Know" kind of just meanders and reminds me of "I Want to Come Home," which he wrote for a movie soundtrack a few years back - which is ground McCartney has already covered - something that he rarely does.  There's nothing really catchy or memorable about "IDK."  "Come On To Me," though it is a rocker, is not very memorable either, with nothing really catchy to keep me interested.  I was an instant fan of every album's lead single since I became a McCartney fan around the time of Driving Rain, but these two new songs just fall flat for me.  I hope the rest of the album doesn't sound like this.   Even the cover art isn't very original.  It looks like George Harrison's album cover from 1982, 'Gone Troppo.'  I wish I was alive during his heyday - or even the 1980's when his voice was a little stronger.  This album is the first album that you can really start to tell he's getting up there in age.  I've listened to both songs a handful of times since last night and I'm just disappointed that I waited 5 years for this.  I expected it to be better.  I agree with the post above - neither song is bad, but neither song is great.

Yeah, it gets really exciting when we will hear something. I can't wait to see/read anything about tonights show! In terms of promotion for the new album and what I think would be really cool; if Paul would make an appearance in the Carpoolkaraoke of James Corden and sing some songs. That might also introduce him to a new audience. And a guest appearance of Mick Jagger would of course be hilarious. Especially if they would sing a song of one another ð??. This will go viral for sure ð???. What do you guys think?

Venus and Mars should definitely (again my opinion) should be on Paul's top 10. I would easily have V&M on the list and remove any one of these 3 - McCartney, New or Driving Rain. I like all 3 but V&M is much more consistent. Not a bad track on V&M in my humble opinion.

I totally agree and found it strange that several Wings albums were missing from the overall listing. On closer inspection, my original list was for 'Paul McCartney', 'Paul & Linda McCartney' and 'Paul McCartney & Wings' albums. Any release that mentioned Paul McCartney basically. But the albums that were credited just to Wings were in another category. So including the ratings of the 5 Wings albums involved (Wild Life, Venus And Mars, Wings at the Speed of Sound, London Town & Back to the Egg), there is a slight but important change to the Top 10, which now looks like: 1. Ram (1971) 3.95 2. Band On The Run (1973) 3.91 3. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard (2005) 3.72 4. Flaming Pie (1997) 3.64 5. Venus and Mars (1975) 3.61 6. McCartney (1970) 3.52 7. Tug of War (1982) 3.47 8. New (2013) 3.41 9. Flowers in the Dirt (1989) 3.40 10. London Town (197 3.38 So, Venus and Mars & London Town are in the Top 10 and we lose Memory Almost Full & Driving Rain. .

That list is pretty accurate for me. I would take out London Town and insert RRS. I don't necessarily agree with the order, but if I were to pick his top 10 albums, this would probably be it with RRS. MAF would be 11, if this list went to 11. For some reason I've always had a sweet spot for Egg as well....

I bought tix to the OKC show on July 17th and I was offered the new album with my purchase. It said that it will be mailed upon its release.

I would say since the Anthology in the mid-90's The Beatles have become more relevant than ever. Paul and Ringo continue to sell out all their concerts (with a large amount of young people), The Beatles 1 is consistently in the top 200 on iTunes (in America), Paul recently scored a top 5 hit with Rihanna and Kanye, they're constantly referenced in TV shows and movies (more than any other band or artist), and they are still the bar that everyone compares them to. I would say The Beatles are more relevant than ever. Not to mention these new videos that are about to come out for the re-issue of 1. A person would have to have no shred of curiosity in their body to not know who the Beatles are and how relevant they are today and tomorrow, and forever.

Heard a new song today and I couldn't figure out why I liked it. Then it hit me. It's a young version of "Alligator" with a little bit of rap/hip hop mixed in. It's kinda got a little bit of "Appreciate" mixed in too. What does everyone else think? The song is called "Stressed Out" by twenty one pilots off of their 'Blurryface' album.

Is it just me or is there some Say Say Say undertones going on in Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars? To me it sounds like an updated Say Say Say. Thoughts?

There are a ton of hits he hasn't played live since he started back on the road in 2002. Some of them, he has never played live, period. The ones that come to mind are as follows: Uncle Albert Tomorrow With a Little Luck Goodnight Tonight Pipes of Peace Silly Love Songs Helen Wheels Take it Away Spies Like Us No More Lonely Nights Daytime Nightime Suffering Call Me Back Again My Brave Face He's been on the road for 13 years now, and there are albums of his, quite successful albums, I might add, that he hasn't even touched, or barely touched. RAM is one of his most adored albums and he has only played Too Many People a hand full of times. He hasn't played anything else off of the album. He ignores the entire Wild Life album, he ignores RRS with the exception of "My Love," and he has ignored Venus & Mars with the exception of V&M/Rockshow, and LTWTMS. He basically ignores his entire solo catalog in lieu of a Beatle heavy setlist, which is what he is catering to. I understand that. But the hardcore fans such as ourselves want to hear some Wings tracks. They don't even need to be deep cuts, though I would love to hear some. Beware My Love anyone??? I could go on, but I know that this stuff probably doesn't get read by his people. It would just be nice for a hardcore only show in an intimate setting. 1,000-2,000 people max, and he plays nothing but deep album cuts. I'd pay more money to see that, than all of the hits he plays in all the arenas around the world.

This may have been answered already, but does anybody know who was responsible for the melody of this song? I heard that Kanye kinda wrote most of the lyrics, but was he also responsible for the melody? Exactly how big of role did Paul play in this collab???? Thanks!

This is terrible!! Sounds a little like Paul in the background in the chorus. But this is really bad regardless. Poor Ringo

Has anyone heard this song on the radio? I have SiriusXM and have yet to hear it. In addition, I have been tuning into my local "Hits" station in OKC, and I have yet to hear it there as well. I don't understand how a song could crack the top 10 on the Billboard chart and not be spun twice an hour like all of the other so-called "hits."

From what I remember Hotel California did pretty well with the palm trees. I have to agree though, that it doesn't really matter what he puts on the cover. Unless he's gonna team up with Rihanna or Kanye, this album won't even slightly ding the charts. He's making these albums for him and his friends and us, his hardcore fans. Ringo Rama is by far my favorite album of his, but that's probably my generation talking. I was a senior in High School when it came out in March of that year, and I wore that album the entire year, plus. He's still making great albums, but if they're not gonna play new songs from solo Paul on the radio, they certainly aren't gonna play solo Ringo!

This song is much better than Kanye's Only One. To be honest, I'm surprised it took Macca this long to collaborate with some of the "hit makers" of today. Everybody in the industry respects him without reproach, yet when he releases an album and a single, nobody is there to help him push it up the charts. If Macca is smart, he have a few collaborations on his next album. Let's just hope he doesn't wait another four years to produce another album. Strike while the iron's hot. I'm proud of Macca for stepping out of his comfort zone, though he's no stranger to doing that. But I'm hoping this will hit the Top 10 as I have only been alive long enough to see hime do that once. Spies Like Us hit #7 (US) in 1985 about 4 or 5 months after I was born, so I'd like to see his name high up on the charts at least once in my life. I'm interested to see what else they have done. I still think they're holding back a club hit that's a little bit more upbeat. Hope they let Macca sing a few notes. Even if it is just blended into a chorus. Go Macca! You rock! Keep breaking the barriers my friend!
