RE: New in the Charts Thread
SusyLuvsPaul:
I saw where David Bowie is putting out a video for one of his new songs, redone into an extended dance mix, depicting "a couple making love" (naked), should the Mackster have resorted to that? Macca : ops:
Macca did that with "Beautiful Night" off of 'Flaming Pie' 16 years ago. A great song, but it never became a hit. Even with a debut on Oprah!

Billie Joe + Norah - Foreverly
Saw this on youtube and was floored. Billie Joe, of Green Day fame, and Norah Jones, daughter of Ravi Shankar, sound absolutely awesome together. It's like they were made to sing together. If the entire album sounds as good as this, we are in for treat. They cover an entire Every Brothers album entitled 'Songs Our Daddy Taught Us.' The album comes out November 26th in the US. First single from the album is called "Long Time Gone."

To go Gold or Platinum is certainly success. But it is relative in the music biz. If you are a young, new act, those numbers are brilliant. But if I recall, Michael Jackson's THRILLER sold something like 25 million copies. I remember the press writing that BAD was a failure because it sold only 10 million or something like that, as a follow up. McCartney has himself to compete with. His LP and CD sales are respectable. But I am sure the man would still like to see his work sell like BOTR or WOA. NEW is a really good CD that is doing reasonably well. I am sure Macca can handle that!
I think he could live with the overall sales, too -- as long as the album reached No. 1 album in America. As much as I love the album, I am personally ticked-off that it didn't get to No. 1. And, as usual, I blame the concerted lack of radio airplay.
I completely agree!!! I am convinced that if it were receiving more radio play the album would be a bigger "hit." How is Cher above Paul in the US charts? Probably because it's getting more airplay for whatever reason. Radio play is where it's at these days, as well as in the "early days." In my opinion it'll make you or break you.

I think Pipes benefited from Say,Say,Say which was a No.1 Single for several weeks. And in the UK the title track is paul's only solo No.1 single to this day ( and the Second post - Beatles No.1. First being..Mull of Kintyre) I agree that it's One of Paul's weaker albums. IMO it also started an artistic decline which lasted until Off the Ground. Anyway, I either listen to his 70s stuff up to Tug of War or the albums from Flaming Pie onwards. But obviously...that's just me
We have a very similar taste in Paul's solo albums. Good to know I'm not alone.
I also do the same thing in terms of the albums that I listen to. However, I do listen to a few tracks off of FITD from time to time. It's understandable how that album reached #1 in the UK. In my opinion it should have been #1 in the US as well. I was hoping New would be Paul's first #1 album in the US. I have not been alive long enough to experience a #1 pop album from Paul in the US.

IMO, songs that should be in regular rotation, if not played at every concert: Maybe I'm Amazed Too Many People My Love Band On The Run Jet Listen To What The Man Said Silly Love Songs With A Little Luck Mull of Kintyre Ebony and Ivory No More Lonely Nights My Brave Face Hope Of Deliverance Flaming Pie Fine Line Only Mama Knows New
I agree! Your list does't neglect any part of his career, which I love. Why NMLN is not or has not been in his set list for the past 12 years I will never know. That is one hell of a song. Should have been #1 IMO. I would probably add Take It Away, Wanderlust, Ballroom Dancing, and Stranglehold to the list. Wanderlust is such a lovely piano ballad that has classic written all over it, yet nobody except hardcore McCartney fans know of it. That's a disservice to the entire world!!! As for the other 3 songs on my list, those are crowd pleasin' ear candy that make people want to get up and dance!

RE: Predict Next Setlist
I'm tired of Let Me Roll It, Here Today, Something and Helter Skelter. What he should do is replace Let Me Roll It with another Wings song, like Silly Love Songs. Here Today should be replaced with Early Days, and Something should be replaced with either WMGGW or Here Comes the Sun. I still think he should definitely have a tribute to John and George, but let's keep the songs fresh. Helter Skelter can be replaced with Rockestra or something. Also, why does Paul neglect pretty much every album he has made from 1976-present? The only songs that he has played from that period is Let'em In, Coming Up, Here Today, Calico Skies, and Flaming Pie. Can anyone else remember him playing a song from that period on a tour within the last 12 years? (Promotion of current album songs excluded) I can't. Maybe he should do a deep tracks tour, just for the hardcore fans.

RE: Paul's upcoming album review they say its HOT!
McCartney's marketing team is horrible. I've never been impressed. However, if he wants to sell records to a new audience he needs to put out the best song as a single. For the last few albums he released a different song to radio. He needs to release the same song that he releases to radio as the single that he wants them to play. They need to be one in the same in order for the single and the album to be successful and to create buzz. In terms of real marketing, if he truly is releasing the album in October we should be hearing the single off of it within the next few weeks. As much I would love to hear a McCarney #1 single in my lifetime, I realize that will probably never happen. I was 7 months old the last time he had a top 10 hit in the US, so I'd settle for one more!!!

I heard No Matter What on the radio yesterday. A classic for sure. And their version of Nilsson's Without You is one of the best covers ever! They were so talented and could have been one of the greatest bands ever. Instead they are one of the most tragic stories in Rock.
Umm. Badfinger actually wrote 'Without You.' Nilsson covered them!!!

RE: NEW PAUL & NIRVANA SONG
Vote for it here on SiriusXM 20 on 20. You will have to type it in at the bottom. I noticed the The Rolling Stones' new song "Doom and Gloom" is already listed there. Let's push Paul into the listings and get him back to #1 where he belongs!!! Vote now! http://www.siriusxm.com/servlet/Satellite?c=SXM_PageDetail_C&childpagename=SXM/SXM_PageDetail_C/OpenContent&cid=1283889817033&pagename=SXM/Wrapper

RE: Paul, Scottrade Center, St. Louis, November 11th - ARCHIVE
Does anybody know of any place we could all meet up and introduce ourselves in St. Louis? There may be too many of us but it'd be nice to try. Somewhere close before the show maybe? Just a thought!

RE: If Ringo toured solo what setlist would you like to see?
I doubt he would do Six O' Clock twice.
