awesome link lyle!! what's funny, is to see some songs from this thread already in there... altho, i don't know about "ringo" being beatles-ESQUE..... lol - i think i would consider ringo a beatle.... lol what also was cool - was that for some of those songs, i was like .... "no way"..... yet, i bet someone else would hear it totally..... that, is among the cool things about sharing these song titles, and enjoying the diversity... p.s. have any of you 'across the ponders' [i use that lovingly] ever seen, heard, or read any connection between paul and keane's "somewhere only we know?" i'm just curious if that is just 'me'.....

RE: "beatle-esque" songs by different bands
i adore checking your songs you mention, people... [ this is fun! (clarinet solo...] but some of ya left out the song titles, which was funny for me trying to bring my mind thru the recognizable catalogue of some of the bands mentioned.... very interesting. i never really thought of queen, blur, OR crowded house as beatle-esque 'letmein'...., but i'll revisit and especially listen to see... i LOVE that crowded house song called 'into temptation'... but i don't hear and beatles influence in it... and yeah, 'silver moondog'... i LUUUVVVVV 'sowing the seeds of love' and always have.... but it came on a radio station the other day.... and it's just SOOO 'beatles-luscious' that i just sat in my car listening until it was over.... (and it's a long one...) - which got me lots of looks because it was like 94 degrees at the time... rock on everybody!

RE: "beatle-esque" songs by different bands
hey jackie great choice! i forgot about that jet song, but you're so right. "look what you've done".... i think that the beatles would have made this song better, because just in my opinion (so NO beating me up, jet fans).... the song for THEM (the band jet) is a departure from the loud, jangly stuff, so it doesn't have to sit on its own merit. or maybe it just needed george martin to give it some kind of orchestral swell or crescendo.... OH, and i cannot believe i forgot to mention the song that made me even THINK of this post, but how about....: sowing the seeds of love - tears for fears ? i got to see them do this live.... just awesome....

"beatle-esque" songs by different bands
hey all.... what are some songs and artists that in your opinion(s), have some very "beatle-esque" sounds to them??? i figure a lot of you might say many of the oasis tracks. but i'll point more to songs like "that thing you do!" - just love that! and the very first time i heard keane's "somewhere only we know" - i would have swore that paul wrote that and let them record it... ESPECIALLY when you listen to their other songs... and would any of you put julian's "valotte" on a list like this?? your thoughts?

RE: photos or information
hey, i'd love to hear that, i think... altho, maybe you can instead just email me your catalog of stuff and we'll see what we can see??? i'm sad today. i wanted to post a video of me doing a billy preston song saturday night, and i cannot chop the thing down enough to have it fit into a managable size enough to send, or post anywhere.... (make frowny face with pouty lip)

RE: photos or information
i DID get to meet rhian at AROTR, altho i don't think she knows who i am.... ...she was on my floor. we talked thursday afternoon while checking in, and i saw her probably at *least* a dozen times in the hallway... and you know a lot more about my personality than she does, so i'm sure being so friendly in the hallway probably freaked her out a little... i'm guessing... i can't believe that i can't find that artwork or a legend or at least SOME info on the media screen backdrop for 'sgt pepper' at live 8... it was awesome, and i would naturally assume people would want to share it.... which ties into another opinion i have nance.... and here it is.... don't you think that such things, ie - that art, live performances by some of our favorite AROTR bands, and related items ....should be made MORE available?? because, if i'm not mistaken... doesn't the art of that kind then take on the "tree falling in the woods" kind of thing..... ie, if no one hears it or enjoys it.... etc... of course, with THAT said, i better get my plans in motion to at least create a listenable record of my own catalog... OOPS, there are europeans that read this, soo.... my "catalouge" ... had some computer problems today. make sure you 'security check' your computers... (okay, now i forget what we were talking about in the first place... lol)

hey all... i see how aged this thread is... but i think this is the best place for this request... does anyone have, or know where i could get.... a photo, and/or information on the live 8 take-off of the sgt. pepper cover that was on the big screen behind paul and U2 for 'sgt. pepper'? i thought it was cool, but we see so little of it during the clips.... just wondering if anyone has a shot or a good tip or two on follow up?

RE: Ringo's comment on the Paul/Bono performance at Live8
details, schmeetails.... we can all hope and assume that they're the kind of friends they are, or that we hope them to be, and like we hope that we are with our friends... (remember john's comment in the 'imagine' movie... "the wounds have all healed, etc...") ANYWAY, i forget who posted it, but i think the best post here is the suggestion of HOW COOL it would have been for ringo to come out at the conclusion of peppers' "billl-eeee-sheeeers" and do "with a little help from my friends" with paul and bono and edge and larry and adam and bob geldof and sting and phil collins and uhm.... joe perri... LOL ..... i think you know what i mean... instead of the focus on the negative.... accentuate the positive.... so... what gets your vote for what have been the coolest ???? yeah, ringo coming out to do 'with a little help from my friends'.... awesome vote....
