Wow! Yes, there is a real similarity - if you just listen to the line 'Yesterday, I believed my love was here to stay' it has a melodic similarity. Also the bit where he says 'Just what sin have I been guilty of' reminds me of Wanderlust too. I reckon THIS is the song Paul heard in his dream.Posts made by thetoot

RE: What song did Paul have to check for plagiarism?

RE: Golden Earth Girl
It's also a beautifully produced track too. I'm not a massive fan of the egg shell seas/in excelsis word-play but it does carry on the Catholic connection of Biker Like an Icon as well as the punning thing too and he just about gets away with it. wink

RE: Is he ignoring the UK
I think part of the criticism of Paul here in the U.K is that he comes across as a bit shallow, or a bit fake - and that he is past his best. This might seem completely ridiculous to people from other countries, but I think that a lot of the hostility has to do with his hair and his face-lift. Crazy as it sounds, Brits really really don't like facelifts and people dying their hair in an obvious way as it comes across as symbolic of some kind of fakery. Yes, it's a silly point of view, but take that, coupled with the almost over-glossy nature of what many people have seen from his live set and you can sort of understand the criticism. Remember, most Brits have no idea whatsoever about the amazing back catalogue he has and think that he only did something in The Beatles, so when he then goes out and seemingly only plays Beatles songs on live t.v, coupled with the other stuff, you have the roots of the criticism. He doesn't deserve it though and he is a national treasure.

RE: It Shouldn't Have Been a Single
I've Had Enough - one of the weakest tracks on London Town

...can I go forward when I don't know which way I'm facing? wink

It Shouldn't Have Been a Single
Sometimes Paul makes some odd single choices. Which songs do you think should have stayed as album tracks, b-sides or just in the can? Probably the obvious one for me is 'Give Ireland Back to the Irish' but how about you?

RE: "One Of These Days"
Beatles4Ever&Ever:
What's sad about the whole thing is that a lovely song such as "One of The Days" just sort of appeared and disappeared simultaneously in 1980. It got no recogniton...except, seemingly, from a few fans who bought McCartney II. The public at large is totally unfamiliar with this beautiful song. Seems wrong. Paul seems to have lots of little gems tucked away/buried in albums that go virtually unnoticed. Another one of those, for me, is "Don't Let It Bring You Down" from London Town. Love that song. How many people actually know about it...or tons of others he has?
I absolutely love 'Don't Let it Bring You Down' - actually I think it's my favourite McCartney song

RE: "One Of These Days"
I love One of These Days, it's the sort of song you can listen to, in the dark on your headphones and drift off into a happy, hazy dream sleep. )

RE: Does Paul have the greatest back-catalog of songs?
You know what? He might just come a close second to Dylan wink I might have a listen-off to decide!

RE: Live Kisses - Fan Reviews etc
So, what are people's views on Live Kisses versus the original ITunes webcast? Personally I think the ITunes version was better. You got the whole concert, uninterrupted, which had a lovely atmosphere and momentum. I also think the colouring was better as Live Kisses has a high contrast thing going on which makes it feel a little less intimate. What do you think?

RE: Your "conversion playlist"
Mine would be chronological - Paul has too many songs to do this well, but I would give a sample of the early post-Beatles period 1. Every Night 2. Maybe I'm Amazed 3. Too Many People 4. Dear Boy 5. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey 6. Monkberry Moon Delight 7. Some People Never Know 8. Tomorrow 9. Mama's Little Girl 10. Big Barn Bed 11. My Love 12. Live and Let Die I would have included Ram On, Heart of the Country, Long Haired Lady, Backseat of my Car but I tried to stop it being too Ram heavy. wink

RE: Anyone else keep coming back around to...
Pretty Little Head is one of my five-star McCartney songs, I absolutely love that track and listen to it lots. It's another one which you can place in a playlist and people don't realise it is McCartney - my friends aren't really Paul fans but lots of them love this song too.

RE: Live Kisses - Fan Reviews etc
I liked the live stream better, but I might be in the minority.

RE: Paul Supports Obama
Paul can support who he likes, and he has the right to express his preferences but its tricky because he risks alienating a section of his fanbase. Saying that, its interesting to note that, when 'Freedom' came out, Paul cut a very Republican dash. I'm on the fence about this, because as a fellow Brit I kind of feel that Paul shouldn't really become too heavily involved in the politics of another country but at the same time I respect his right to an opinion. I hope people who disagree with him still respect that right.

RE: So what is the Wingsy song around
Magneto and Titanium Man - I love that song so I am a bit biased D

RE: London Town - the most underrated Macca album
If you just had the tracks London Town Cafe On The Left Bank I'm Carrying Backwards Traveller Cuff Link Children Children Girlfriend I've Had Enough With a Little Luck Deliver Your Children Don't Let it Bring You Down More Moose and the Grey Goose I think you would have a really strong album, but as it stands it is two tracks too long. I love the feel of London Town though, and it's still one of the Paul albums I listen to most. I think it is the first few seconds of the title track which draw me in.

RE: Dance 'til We're High
I think it is REALLY Christmassy. Was it ever released as a single?
