    • RE: 2018 Tours?

Major Cities that were played in 2014-

      Los Angeles

      Kansas City

      San Antonio

      Dallas

      Denver

Out of those, I would only see maybe 2 of the Texas cities (Austin and Houston?), either Anaheim or LA not both... DOubt we'll see much Northeast US this year after last year's epic marathon 9 show NYC area +Syracuse run. Orlando seems unlikely since he just played Tampa last year. To me the most likely are Indianapolis, Houston, Las Vegas, Anaheim, Memphis, Charlotte/Raleigh/somewhere in NC and another Texas city perhaps. Anyone else think of other possible candidates for US cities? Time to revisit one of the huge metros from 1on1 2016 like Minneapolis-St Paul, Washington DC, Seattle, Cleveland or  Vancouver? (assuming it's a new tour)

Not to nitpick, but he definitely didn’t play Denver in 2014. No Colorado shows since 2010.

I'm still baffled he didn't release Tokyo '13 - easily my favorite filmed show (taking into account direction, sound, setlist, production, etc.) of his '02-present tours.

I still like The Space Within US from the US Tour.

The concert footage from Space Within US is very good - Paul and band playing/looking/sounding great. The stage that tour came across very well on video, as well. The rest of the film I find pretty dire, though. Having done all the "on the road" scenes in Back in the U.S., they just filled the Space Within US with random celebs talking about Paul, which is both boring and off-putting. The two Mark Haefeli projects sound fantastic, and the concert footage is pretty good, but the rest of it I can do without.

      LadyLeslie:

A tribute song to Fats Domino would be great! "Kansas City" is another song he does really well, that he's performed since his Beatle days - he has the perfect voice for it! He usually just likes to perform that when he's actually in Kansas City though... but he did make an exception in 1997 at the concert for Montsserat. He really rocked that song in this video clip from that event.

I would have said â??he doesnâ??t have the voice for that nowâ? were it not for his attempt at Long Tall Sally with a Dave Grohl a while back. Heâ??s clearly still happy to go for anything ð???

it's a shame. Best his voice has sounded in years as well.

Indeed. There's a "woah-oh-oh" toward the end of Eight Days a Week which could have been from '02/3, or '76.

It usually takes a long time too...I remember when they finally added "Day Tripper", Brian Ray said he had been pushing for it since the '05 US tour.

Hey now, Wix hadn't had to play tamborine before - Brian plays it on Hey Jude...

All superb ideas...not gonna happen though!

Amen. I saw an interview (don't have the link, sorry) a year or so ago where he spoke about the band pushing him to learn different songs, and cited Golden Slumbers as one he thought would be too much work, but was glad he relented. You know, a song he played live every night for a year. So I don't hold out much hope for the kinds of things we'd all like to see.

If he actually cared about playing something from McCartney II...why not put "Coming Up" in its place? I've never heard it live and I'm sure many others would love to hear it. It was a fairly big hit and it fits the show AND it'll please the folks that desperately want solo songs.

Fell down the YouTube rabbit-hole watching Coming Up versions just now - even though his voice is weaker, I love the '13 6 Music version SO much more than the '89 version. For better or worse, the '02- band is much more of a band than the '89-93 crew.

I personally don't see how this is more majorly promoted than the 'Ram' and 'Wings Over America' reissues. Colour my surprised if he adds a single song in his setlist. And I'm afraid 'My Brave Face' is completely out of his range. The fast phrasing on each pre-chorus is becoming too hard, as we can hear on 'Save Us' live. And he's hitting a few B5's on 'My Brave Face', which on a best day are sounding like this these days, last note of the bridge:

It's harder than 'Looking For Changes', and we know how that sounded 20 years later:

Woah... '15 Looking for Changes completely passed me by at the time. Cool that he was willing to dust that one off (far from my favorite song, but nice that he still remembers some of those exist). That performance wouldn't make an official release, but it's no worse than anything else in the set. Is there a reason he couldn't take a lower harmony in the pre chorus of My Brave Face (well -in everything except the verses, actually) and let Abe sing the melody? That would probably sound fine.

Aw, we were all so young and innocent back then. It was the "Back in the US" TV special in Thanksgiving '02 that introduced me to Paul, so I'll always have a soft spot for that era.
