lindafan:"Things began auspiciously when Paul McCartney arrived with Wings to record part of his Band on the Run album at Batakota, where due to the expertise of the project, the sound quality was far higher than any that EMI offered there at that time. However, it soon became apparent that all was not set to proceed without incident when at Wing's farewell party in Lagos, EMI's overseas managing director informed Ginger, ?we're going to screw you...this is EMI territory..'"

So what they're saying, is that Ginger Baker built his own studio, recorded Wings (and whoever else) and EMI didn't like the fact that their artists weren't using the lesser EMI studio. So they "were going to screw" him.

This is not true Wings only spent one day recording at Baker's Studio.

SusyLuvsPaul:Going to Oz ? Gotta feeling he really should tour Down Under--Aussies are uber- enthusiastic, appreciative fans and would probably buy a lot of his new album too, if he puts on concerts there. As well as turn out in truly spectacular massive, massive droves at his shows. They've gone so long without seeing him in concert. Man that would really be something, in a lot of ways

It has been 20 years since he was last down under in 1993 and about 12 years since the cancelled Melbourne show fiasco. Hope it happens but wont hold my breath.

I just got Rockshow on Blu- ray and on first listen seems OK- great sound & picture in fact. I usually buy anything Macca straight away had put off getting it for a little while just in case the problem was with first production run.

After a few listens the jury's still out but can't see it being a hit. I don't think it is good as Paul's last 2 new songs My Valentine or Only Our Hearts especially the latter which is a favourite of mine. I thought after the KOTB album Paul's next release would be a bit more rockier than this "New"single. Maybe it will grow on me . People say it is Beatleesque well maybe but I doubt The Beatles would of thought it worthy of being a single. I hope the album will be truly great or at least as good as his releases since the new millenium.

Adriana Rojas:I love the whole album, for me the best are Only Our Hearts and My one and only love, really kills me, that voice...wow!

I also love Only Our Hearts I think it is the best love song Paul has written in many years but most people seem to prefer My Valentine...well not me. More I Cannot Wish You is beautiful and I love most of the album the only track I have a slight problem with is Bye Bye Blackbird. Paul's slow version just doesn't suit it. I think of it as a sort of novelty vaudeville song when played at it's usual quick tempo.

Just another manufactured boy band. I don't know any One Direction songs and really don't want to.

Brrrriiiinnnggg, Brrrriiiinnnggg

I really must get some Macca tune.

I really love Scared but what's the point of it being the hidden track. They are usually some little ditty or bit of a jam or guitar riffing, etc not a fully complete song.

SusyLuvsPaul:Wasn't going to mention this, but it's so perplexing given all the glowing "New" reviews--somebody on Facebook called "New" the album "unlistenable." How could it provoke such an extreme negative reaction when it seems almost universally admired? Interesting that it did, though. A mystery.

I have to say that New is not Paul's most immediately accessible album. It has taken me quite a few listens to get into alot of it. It has to be one Paul's least pop albums. The critics seem to prefer this kind of Paul. I think most critics have that snobby attitude that pure pop cannot also be great music.

left hand man:Totally disagree!

A song like New is totally pop and very accessible, it sounds like the Beatles and isn't that what the majority of people (not me) want?

Songs like Alligator and especially I Can Bet are very accessible pop and rock, tailor made for radio play.

It's a very accessible album!

Sure New is the most poppiest song on the album and a few others like Queenie Eye and Everybody Out There have an immediate hook but alot of the album for me did take time to get into. Something about a particular track which at first I didn't get can suddenly just click with me. Hosanna would be a good example of this.
I am still struggling with On My Way To Work .
