Just got the book - Paul McCartney. Recording sessions (1969-2013). A journey through Paul McCartney's songs after The Beatles by Luca Perasi.
Sounds like the Macca version of the authoritative The Complete Beatles Reacording Sessions by Mark Lewisohn.

I don't think it's available through Amazon US yet. Which Amazon did you order it from? Doesn't Perasi post on this forum?

I got it through Amazon UK.

How about something real romantic like Helter Skelter.

But seriously what about And I Love Her , Here There & Everwhere or I Will.

love2travel:Did anyone mention Only Our Hearts? Thats a really great one!

The whole of Ecce Cor Meum is really Paul's greatest love masterpiece when you come down to it!! Also Ocean's Kingdom was a beautiful Love story...

Well tastes do vary. Only Our Hearts is, to my ears, nice but not extraordinary. My Valentine is extraordinary.

For me it's Only Our Hearts. IMO one of Paul's great love songs. I just prefer it to My Valentine which is also excellent .

beatlesfanrandy:Several releases have come out in Japan that have never been "officially" released in the U.S. or U.K. The concert shot in color at Budokan for one, Shea Stadium for another, and some of the other U.S. releases that Capitol cobbled together after Apple Records went on hiatus in the 70's. Their DVD region is incompatible with ours and the U.K. though. You can get Live at the Hollywood Bowl on Japanese CD also, which we are still waiting for over here!

Are these DVD/CD releases official EMI/Capitol Japan releases or are they bootlegs ?

Erik in NJ:Take a look at EMI Odeon Stereo EAS-77009-10

This CD does not appear to be a bootleg.

The question is whether the "Mini-LP" CDs are legit or not. I cannot seem to find any release info to corroborate. The issue number EAS-77009-10 can be traced to the Odeon vinyl LP release. I know the CDs look like perfect replicas in every way. But are they "official"?

I highly doubt they are official releases. For starters I don't think they would use original vinyl serial numbers on CD reissues. I checked out Rock n Roll Music and Love Songs on Amazon. In the product details they don't even have a Label listed like EMI Odeon or Toshiba or whatever label Universal/EMI/Capitol Japan issue under these days. I believe these are really bootlegs and find it amazing Universal and Apple don't stop Amazon selling them.

There seems to be a stack of Japanese Beatles bootlegs available on Amazon. I cant believe Amazon are not being slapped with legal writs to cease selling this stuff.

Unless they are officially licensed by Apple for Japanese release only and they are limited releases. I believe that to be the case. I have seen other Japanese "mini-LP's", Led Zeppelin in particular, and they are highly desirable CDs. In some cases they are even special remasters. I have a mini-LP of Physical Graffiti and it is an exact replica down to the smallest detail, even with the cut-out windows on the cover, and the sound is incredible.

Well if they are licensed for Japanese release only. The fact that they available worldwide on Amazon defeats this kind of restriction. In this internet age there is really no such things as borders when it comes to buying goods. They tried to do it with region zones for DVD, to try and battle piracy and protect manufacturing in Europe & America from cheap imports from China & SE Asia etc, but it failed. I don't think they bother anymore making DVD's only playable in certain regions.

Actually they do, because the DVD's have to be compatible with the machines made for those countries. Blu-ray may be different however.

Yes you are quite right that DVD's are stll made for 6 different regions and Blu-ray is also region specific but there are just 3 regions . But as people have posted in this thread it seems quite easy to get players that will play any DVD no matter what region.

Favourite Beatles song ? An obviously extremely diffficult decision. I could probably put a case for about 20 or 30 but if pushed I would go with Let It Be.

Close contenders in no order : While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Penny Lane, The Ballad of John and Yoko, Hey Jude, Norwegian Wood, Yesterday, And I Love Her.
