I was born roughly three and a half years after his passing; June 1st 1984
Driving Rain Tour: May 1st 2002
US Tour: Oct 14th 2005
US Tour: Oct 15th 2005 (Foxy Lady ending that night)
On the Run Tour: July 24th 2011 - Soundcheck (outside of Comerica park but still heard the whole thing)
On the Run Tour: July 24th 2011 - actual show.
Have yet to personally hear "She's Leaving Home", various Memory Almost Full songs, and yes - would love to hear "Beautiful Night" one day.
I'm pretty sure that Paul won't be playing Detroit for at least another year or so since he performed last July - to a single show date. Which is ok with me since i'm engaged and just bought a house. But I think it'll be the cheap seats next round. Four times seeing him between the $90-$250 have been a pleasure.
I would love to pick this up instantly...ah new home ownership and marriage next year. I may wait a year or so, but in the meanwhile pick up McCartney I & II for the same price as the deluxe version of Ram.
But there is so much good stuff on this reissue deluxe edition.
Similar to the fiasco with KOTB cd release and exclusives (at which store offered what)..is the two bonus songs exclusive to PM.com? Has there been any info on if Target, Walmart or Best Buy may have these bonus songs as downloads as well?
Just like the majority of people on this forum - I'm an avid Beatles/McCartney fan. But having just bought a house and saving for a wedding; I think the Special 2-cd edition is going to have to be my compromise. And if I have to - I'll torrent the two bonus songs. Thrillington is the major reason to get the Deluxe but I can't justify a $99 SINGULAR album release. The DVD looks skimpy though I am curious on the 15 min. documentary.
Note: I remember with the John Lennon Anthology box set came out - 94 unreleased songs for $50 back in 1998.
It seems like the packaging is really jacking up the price. Because the box set for RAM just has $0.05 packaging sleeves for the cd's / dvd.
I only wish they could have continued what BOTR 2010 Remasater did. Release multiple versions but have a digipack version of the deluxe edition 3CD/1 DVD or maybe a 2CD (minus mono disc)/1DVD. That could easily be a $29.99 set right there.
I jumped on this hopefully they honor this..if it changes I'm going to have to cancel it.
I'm getting skeptical on this HMV 12 pounds ($16) deluxe edition offer.
I finally purchased the Deluxe Set - I had to get it. Used a $50 amazon gift card to put towards the set ( a birthday present for myself - which happens to be on the 45th Anniversary of Sgt. Pepper: June 1st)
Just received this set today - it's so beautiful I got a little bit emotional because I remember my dad use to tell me that this is the album to hear from McCartney - and I didn't get a chance to pick up an old record or cd and just sit back and listen to it with him. Never got the chance and now I'm finally understanding what he was talking about.
Now I'm burning the Hi-Res tracks to 2 cds and then a separate cd with just the two download only tracks. And I'm making a dvd of the promo youtube videos leading up to the release of the set.
And once I'm finished with my own various mixes of the Rude Studio tracks I'll be put that do dvd. So I'll be complimenting this set pretty well soon.
