A Beatles fan for 60 years!
-
Hi everyone,
I'm joining this forum because I love Paul! This autumn I will have been a Beatles fan for 60 years. I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show on February 9, 1964, and from that point on I loved the Beatles as well as England. I grew up fascinated with the UK, and I have now been living in England for 13 years. My dream for 60 years has been to meet Paul face to face. I sometimes have dreams I'm meeting him, I shake his hand and say "I've waited my whole life to meet you!" I know this is the dream of all Paul fans! But I'll be 67 this year, and Paul is now 81, so I've decided I have to make an effort to meet him! Any advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!!

@adrianmonk Do you live in London? If so, seeing him going in or coming out of MPL at Soho Sq. would be your best bet.

@AdrianMonk welcome to you.

@njr Thanks for your reply, njr! I live not too far from London, I go there once or twice a month and when I do I try to walk by MLP, and I even walk by his house. I think I'll need to do this more often. Have you seen him at MLP? I have to keep trying!

It’s MPL (McCartney Productions Ltd.), not MLP. No, I’ve only been there 5 times and once they were closed as it was on the weekend (was with a tour group) and the only thing I saw at his London home was his black cat scoot under the gate in 2011 (I yelled “Paul’s cat!” and everyone laughed) and in 2022 the light was on in the 2nd floor room on the left. Was also there at dusk in 2016, but no lights were on.

@njr Oops, MPL. I once went by his house and the gate was open, I thought this is it, he's going to drive out! There were several cars parked in front but of course he didn't drive out....

Was that in early Oct. 2011? There was a lot of activity, cars, gate open, in preparation for the party they had after he and Nancy got married on the 9th.
In 1993, I was in London walking by the left side of Buckingham Palace (had just visited the Royal Mews) and across the street exiting The Girl Guides offices was Princess Margaret! We kept walking and turned left in front of BP. Nobody was around, but the side gate was open. Pretty soon a Bentley zooms out with Prince Charles in the back! Then another one with the Queen! She had her window halfway down and the driver had to pause for traffic and she waved at us! She couldn’t have been more than 6 feet away from us - we were totally gobsmacked! Of course we weren’t prepared and didn’t get any photos.

@njr No, all the cars, gate open etc was on 17 June of last year; I wanted to go by Paul's house on his 80th birthday but his birthday was on a Saturday and I don't like going into London on weekends, so I went on Friday, the 17th; when I saw the gate open and all the cars I thought, aha, they're preparing an 8oth birthday party for Paul, probably to be held the next day...I imagined him coming out front and talking to people and I would miss this by one day, but I'll never know...

As a huge fan of Paul, it would be nice to create a chance meeting. I know London quite well. Unlikely he’d notice me and I bet I’d fall flat on my face and be a right ol’ embarrassment!

@rebeccajane9 I know what you mean! I always say that if I were to meet Paul face to face, after dreaming for decades of meeting him, I would hyperventilate and/or just pass out, then I would miss the opportunity because by the time I would wake up, he'd be gone!!
