Tattoo signatures - yay or nay?

Yeah, me too...I'm pretty sure Paul wouldn't sign a coin slot...at least not in public, anyway... wink

I was jking.. I wonder if you just had a sign that said.."Please sign me!"..and you get up there, and he's like, where do you want it, if you actually pointed to your chest or butt, if he would refuse it with all those people watching and cheering him on..

He probably would refuse, he'd make a joke about it, and he'd just sign an arm instead. Or he just would not pick that person to begin with...

Amen, sister! By the way, BarbB, what is a coin slot, lol?
I didn't get that either...how would a slot be signed anyway?

[quote="Furlow47 My thinking is: Perhaps Paul is calling younger people on stage because he likes feeling that he's still relevant - even with those who weren't around to witness Beatlemania. Maybe in a way he expects those who've been lucky enough to witness his entire career in real time to be his fans, but it's something special to see those who were born in the 80s, 90s, etc. admire him so much. Just a thought. Off my soapbox now. Paul is wonderful to be doing this kind of thing during a concert no less......but he should be less discriminating when choosing his "subjects"... ........and BTW, I'm not a "younger" fan who got "lucky" last year.
-
...and just to add my 2 cents, I'm definately not considered a "younger" fan that got lucky this year either. I'm kind of proud to be an "original Beatles fan" that got lucky. ___________________________ Macca Tours - '76, '89, '90, '93, '02, '05, '09, '10 Concert for NYC - 10/20/01 At Pauls' NY "secret" gig - 6/13/07 Change Begins Within Benefit NYC - 4/4/09 Ringo & Paul 7/7/10 Philadelphia / Soundcheck - 8/14/10

i dont get it! why all the hate? why is it bothering some people? and that its getting "old"? i mean are you going to every show on this tour? or did you see it happen once? when he picks some one to come on stage, they represent every one! all macca fans.... is it old when he brings kids up on stage to sing and dance with him? no ... so i do not see the difference! i mean yea alot of the signs now are asking for tattoos.... i only held mine up during song breaks, and if he was looking in my direction! and i got yelled at by a lady to put it down DURING THE PART that paul talks about how he loves the signs... and then he read mine out loud and they put it on the big screen! if i listened to the sour puss lady than i wouldnt have a tattoo... you paid for the seat, you dont have to sit in it and when you walk in with a sign and the guard doesnt say anything, then you have every right to hold it up! i dont see it any different as when there are 6 foot tall men in front of me because im 5'1 lol so i mean i always have a hard time seeing!! but seriously this tattoo thing has become part of the show, and when paul doesnt want to do it, he wont! he CALLS THE SHOTS! he is SIR PAUL! i mean i think now that he is getting older he really wants to make the most of it and meet fans during the show and make a dream come true. and if you have a sign and you dont get picked... hasnt your dream come true already??? you are at a paul mccartney concert after all!!! thats a dream in itself! i mean and if you have a sign, your prob up close, so that is a dream too, to see paul from the floor!!! lets all just love the whole show and let us girls enjoy our moment with paul and our tattoos that remind us every day! thanks
I said it was getting "old" because if you are a fan of this board you have read about it several times at different cities. No, it does not bother me and I could really care less. If getting a autograph thrills you, rock on and good for you. I feel the same way with signs, not something I would do but if you like to make one and it helps you enjoy the show there is no harm in doing it. Personally, I enjoy the show by singing along (very quietly) and dancing. Like I said, to each their own.

Yeah, now that the internet and something like Youtube exists, you do get to see these kind of things on the tour. You mightn't neccessarily have to go to every concert but a ton of people are still aware of it. I sincerely hope it isn't "part of the show"...do you think other audience members will be looking forward to something like this more than they are hoping to hear their favourite song?

I don't think that's what this is about. I never expected other people to be more excited about my experience meeting Paul than they are about actually seeing Paul play...I don't think any of us girls think that way. Nothing can top seeing Paul live! But for that one lucky person, that is their dream coming true! Don't you think that means something? Meeting Paul was the best moment of my life. I didn't care if it was up on stage, Paul made the last minute decision to bring me up! If Paul didn't think his audience wanted to see it, he would've done it off stage. People were swarming me after the show because they were so happy for me. They wanted to know what he said, what he smelled like, what he felt like, etc. The audience was anything but bored with it. And if tattoo signatures are getting old, then is the story about Jimi playing Sgt. Pepper getting old too? It gets cuter every time! I sincerely don't understand why other people's dreams coming true is bothersome to people! You don't have to watch the you tube video.

^ Actually, yes that story is getting pretty old now..but the tattoos aren't.
-
well maybe im a bit of a square ,but its not really my cup of tea. fair play to anyone whos done it and i can understand your delight. however,im not sure i would want the 'autograph' of anyone stamped on me for life. im sure paul is just caught up in the concert excitment and is being a bit rock n roll. i dont think our paul will be crowd bombing our 'playing with himself 'ala 'iggy pop' anytime soon.

Count me as another one who hopes this hasn't become part of the show. Everyone in the audience doesn't even have a fair chance as you need to be on the floor, near the front to have this happen to you. It's made reading the signs that are shown on the big screen less fun, too. More about I want a tattoo than the clever signs that used to be on the screen. If there is a DVD of this tour and the tattoos are in the main part of the concert, I won't be buying it. I get tired of Paul's stories, too. I can recite them word for word. I just hope he gives this a big time rest.

If you get tired of his stories, then why do you attend 4 shows on the same tour? You know exactly what to expect every show. Sounds very picky to not want to hear him tell a story, especially knowing that every audience is going to get a similar experience.

Because it's fun.

Most of those stories have been the same since 2002 and I'm still going to the shows! However many people in the audience have not heard the stories as they will only see Paul once in their lifetime and they think it is unique.
