Doctor Who

Found out that actor Matt Smith (a.k.a. the eleventh and current Doctor from "Doctor Who") will be appearing on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" on CBS on Thurs., November 16 @ 12:30am EST/ 11:30pm CST.

It's the BBC's annual charity fundraiser telethon tonight - Children In Need. Seeing the trailers I spotted a brief glimpse of Matt Smith wielding a sonic screwdriver. So it's odds-on that, like previous years, the Doctor Who team have provided a short film featuring the Doctor somehow. We'll have to wait for tonight to see how that glimpse is realised. If so, it's sure to surface on YouTube as the BBC gets most highlights up there itself to keep the money pouring in. Martin

It was not a "special" as such - but the first glimpse of the Xmas special:

Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol...Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! LOVED every minute of this!!! Even the commercials were great! Hoping to stay awake until midnight to watch it again! Doctor Who at the Proms and Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol...what a lovely addition to our Christmas day. Thank you again to the BBC! Wish there was someone I could write to express our appreciation. My daughter said this was the best Christmas ever! Hope everyone enjoyed this as much as we did... Merry Christmas!

Well I did Kathryn Jenkins was stunning as Abigail. Believe it or not this is her first foray into acting, although as a singer the concept of performance is not too far removed from her day job. In the companion documentary - Doctor Who Confidential - Michael Gambon admitted being smitten by her pure presence. I'm delighted to learn the soundtrack album will be released in February, and that it will contain a full performance of Abigail's Song - the original song heard at the end of the story. Apparently the script idea that fish could behave in the manner seen here came from a genuine Steven Moffat childhood nightmare. This will be watched several times over in the next week - courtesy of the BBC iPlayer. Martin

There is a YouTuber who specialises in unreleased Whovian scores, and they already have a decent extract of Abigail's Song up:
Spine tingling - but how much of those tingles relate to the song's context within the tale I do not know... Martin -

Stunningly beautiful song, spine-tingling with or without the tale. As with Vale Decem, this song immediately brought me to tears. The first thing I said to the triplets as the credits rolled, "We now know at least one song that will be performed at the next Doctor Who at the Proms." Thanks so much for posting the YouTube clips, Martin...lovely!
