A song I wrote for Paul way back when...
-
As a tribute to my hero, Sir Paul, on his 69th birthday, I decided to dust off my old song book and my bass guitar and record one of the first songs I ever composed on bass when I was about 23 or so. It is what it is... A tad cheesy, but I wrote it from my heart, and thought today would be a suitable time to bring it back to life and share with you all. So, here it is. Enjoy. It's called Dear Mr. Everything.

Love that bassline at 3:25, nice change up in the song! That?s a cool song MMG, cool that you wrote it on bass! That line ?why I see my dreams? is great too. Nice little move there, nothing wrong with it at all. Also caught your Mind Games harmony vocal, stellar! I?m going to go listen to John?s version now, great song! Love your Rick also have you posted other music anywhere on line? would love to check it out

That's very kind of you! Yeah, that Ric is my baby. I was lucky to find it, since it was one someone had ordered but never picked up at the shop... so they let me buy it. Would have been an 8 month wait if otherwise. As for other tracks, I'm just starting to rework my old songs, most of which were never done with my band, and I'll be adding them one at a time to youtube. I'm also planning on recording a solo album for kicks. I have to build up my audio recording set up from scratch, since my ex took most of the gear with him.

be kind... not all of us are as great song writers as paul. In fact he owns much of the 20th century....Very awesome! I love the Am to G# change. I used that in one of my tunes as well. Love those semi tone drops. Is that you singing? If so, your voice reminds me of Beck. That's a compliment by the way! And no, nobody could ever top Paul himself.

Nice! I tried to write him a song to cheer him up back in '99, I think it was. After reading it back, I decided it would probably depress him more. So, it went into the rubbish heap. Never bothered to try to find the music to go with it. Seasons In a spring so full of promise, now a long time gone I heard you sing enchanted songs Along with the World I sang and learned A love of life and song that?s lasted me My whole life long As The Promise grew into the Golden Summer Your songs grew older, their meaning bolder You rocked the World and tapped me on the shoulder And shaped who I grew up to be Fall was surrendering to winter chill A mighty voice and a gentle man was stilled The whole World wept but I felt I wept alone The days grow shorter as the nights grow long Soon there?ll come a time when we?ve all moved on Will we all live then only in our songs? Chorus: Our lives are lived in seasons Seasons come and seasons go Often fast, sometimes slow And as they wax and wane We have our joy and endure our pain As the seasons add up to years Amid the laughter and the tears We are born, grow old and die And all we can do is try To make each other happy In that bygone Spring of Promise, as the leaves were turning green The World for me brand new I dreamed sweet dreams of peace, as I fell in love with you By and by summer dawned and bloomed I saw the fruit of love born and grow Tall and strong and I knew no bounds In autumn time, when all the leaves are brown And the wind blows Came an untimely frost and love I lost Now the days grow shorter as the nights grow colder Along with the World, I, too, grow older But my love of song only grows bolder Chorus: Our lives are lived in seasons Seasons come and seasons go Often fast, sometimes slow And as they wax and wane We have our joy and endure our pain As the seasons add up to years Amid the laughter and the tears We are born, grow old and die And all we can do is try To make each other happy In that final winter time when all the leaves are gone And the wind blows, I sit by the fire and think Of all I?ve seen and all I?ve dreamed All the good things, and all the bad That I have done All the mistakes I?ve made and triumphs won Those I?ve loved and those I?ve grieved And I wonder at the seasons ~ Earle L. Bailey
