Still don't know what the lyrics are, and can't find online anywhere. Wonder if Paul even remembers the lyrics. You'd probably have to go back to the master tapes to work them out from the vocal track. Maybe we could each listen and try and transcribe our best guess of the lyrics. I'm similarly not sure with Mr H Atom: "Mr H Atom, lives in a xxx side of town"??
-
Here's my transcription so far ( xxx are bits I can't pick out): 0:59 Any time that you want to know How it feels when the xxx, ask me xxx 1:12 xxx I feel blue sway Blue sway All day blue sway now Blue sway, blue sway All day blue sway now. Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh {at 2:50 the initial lyrics are repeated but are even harder to pick out} 4:15 da da da - da da da da (repeated)
-
With regard to the above question, I hear "Mr. H Atom lives in a flat on the wrong side of town."

Actually, its: "Mr. H Atom lives in a flat on the MALE side of town." You're welcome.

Just watched the video for "Blue Sway," a Paul song...which I gather is a never-previously-released bonus track on the vinyl edition of "McCartney II." Not bad; very nice melody. Too bad it will likely remain obscure.
Since I absolutely hated "McCartney II", this song is quite a pleasant surprise. Once again makes me wonder how McCartney picks songs that will be singles or on the album.

I asked this on another thread but nobody knew the answer. Did Paul recently record the vocals or was that done in 1986 when it was meant for Cold Cuts?
No-one seems to know that. I think his voice sounds youngish, so he probably dubbed the vocals at some time in the 80s at one of the many Cold Cuts sessions. Maybe they're from '86.
The notes in the deluxe issue indicate that the original recording was in 1979, with overdubs recorded September/October 1986 as part as the Cold Cuts project. I assume that the overdubs in 1986 included the vocals, and agree that the sound of his voice sounds very mid-1980s.
The vocals were most likely done in '86 and definitely not recent. Someone should ask Fiachra Trench. He'd know for sure and has commented on Paul was doing vocal overdubs during the Sept./Oct. '86 Cold Cuts sessions while they were working on the 14 tracks.
Chris if I'm not wrong Paul worked on the COLD CUTS project in 1986 with Richard Niles. He did prepare also a great version of TWICE IN A LIFETIME that was not used.

I'm still not remotely sure about what the xxx bits I marked before are, but here's my best guess for now (not that it makes much sense): Any time that you want to know How it feels when they said I'd go, ask me For two years on the road And now the more I see What d'you feel they've done to me, I feel: Blue sway, Blue sway All day blue sway now

Thank you! I thought it was something like that. It was more the "flat" bit I wasn't sure about.

Here's another possible set, on listening again!! Any time that you want, I know How it feels when outside I go, I sleep... with tears all around Anyway, you're the one I see What d'you feel you've done to me? I feel blue sway Blue sway All day blue sway now If it weren't for those pesky strings and that sax I could hear it properly! This is the only available version with the vocals, right?
-
blue sway, pretty nice video, i like the ocean and the music really makes feel you are there. I like that Paul dedicate this music to Linda, his love will never die
-
I just went to watch Blue Sway again, and realized that I think he should make an album with songs similar to Blue Sway... Travelling Light, Lover's In a Dream, some songs from Rushes something in this vein, with instrumentals similar to that on Blue Sway and I love how he just does the scat singing, on and on to the music. That is absolutely THE BEST!!! It could be called something like "Songs After Dark" Some nice "music" to put on late at night with a glass of wine and some cheese perhaps...

Still no clearer idea what the actual lyrics are here?
