My observations and questions from watching the 1996 DW Movie: When the 7th Doctor is in the Operating Room and says to Grace that he isn't human. Then, after he regenerates into his 8th incarnation, it gets said that he is half-Human on his mum's side. Was this an attempt as a way to re-write the Doctor's past and add a shock-and stunned element to it? Or was it meant to be a joke? Upon entering the TARDIS for the first time, where did Grace learn to fly the TARDIS and re-wire it's systems? I know she is highly intelligent. When the Master was executed by the Daleks, how did his remains get turned into this eellike/sort-of-shapeshifting/gel like/reptilian creature that took over the paramedic's body? Did the Daleks do something to his molecular pattern that transformed it into that state? That wasn't the true form of a Gallifreyan? They are humanoid. How does the Doctor have the forseeable personal knowledge of people he has just only and/or has never met? He tells Chang Lee not to be in San Francisco at Christmas; he tells Grace that she becomes a famous and successful surgeon; he tells Gareth, the security guard, that he should select a certain answer on a test so that he passes it and goes to become a famous inventor/seismologist who invents a device that detect and/or prevents earthquakes. Unless, he looked up these peoples' futures on the TARDIS' computer, afterwards, how would he know about their forseeable futures upon first meeting them? In the new series, the 10th Doctor in "Waters of Mars", for example, realizes that when he has stumbled upon Bowie base and meets the doomed crew, he knows who they are from history and knows he cannot interfere and tell them of what is to come.

In "A Good Man Goes to War", Who are the samurai sword wielding Silurian, Madame Vastra, and her human sidekick, Jenny? Are they supposed to be new characters? They seem to be old friends of The Doctor. Will there be a future episode that will give us a backstory set in the Victorian Era on how their paths crossed? At first, I thought the female solider, Lorna Bucket (or is it pronounced Bouquet? ) was River Song as a young woman and thought was this the way she met the Doctor. Are the soldiers who are under the command of Madame Kovarian, the same "cleric" soldiers who were with River in last season's episodes of "The Time of Angels" and "Flesh and Stone"? Is anything known of Madame Kovarian: who and where she is from? Are she and the Headless Monks new villans? Was Kovarian responsible for getting Amy knocked up artificially? Or did she get naturally pregnant from Rory? And how was Kovarian able to get Melody/River fused with Timelord DNA? Was it somehow gotten from the Doctor? Or what if it was the Master's DNA? What if the Master is collaberating with Kovarian?
-
My reading of the Melody Pond/River Song Time Lord DNA poser comes from the dialogue in the last episode scene where River's identity is unveiled. The conclusion of that dialogue is that Amy fell pregnant by Rory at the very moment the Tardis was in Time Warp transition and that the foetus' dna was altered to embrace Time Lord characteristics in that moment by the time-warp field itself. There's no suggestion that the Doctor himself, The Master or any other such as Kovarian were aware that such a thing might happen, or that they engineered it to be so deliberately. Of course there much more of this story to unfold as it must by now be reasonable to assume the Child in the first episodes featuring The Silence, and seemingly being brought up by them, is the young Melody Pond/River Song because we see her undergo a Time Lord-like transformation at the end of episode two - although from the Child's reassurances to the startled tramp it's not the first occasion that has happened to her. This has been the mid season finale only we have much to learn about the other running mystery - why the Doctor is seemingly killed by someone dressed in an astronaut suit - assumed to be the Child, but not seen to be - in episode one. Did you also note that Amy blurted out the secret of the Doctor's future death to the real Doctor during the Flesh story believing him to be his Flesh 'ganger - presumeably that will have future consequences...... I am the Paulrus:
For once and for all, I think i would be a great idea if they did a flashback episode of DW where the 11th Doctor would tell what led to and happened during The Last Great Time War. Cast Paul McGann and Christopher Eccleston to reprise their roles as the 8th and 9th Doctors, Timothy Dalton as Rassilon. Rebuild the TARDIS set from the 1996 DW movie. Show the events of what led to and happened during and after The Last Great Time War. And then show the Doctor's regenerating from the 8th to his 9th self and how the TARDIS interior got redesigned from the movie to the 9th/10th Doctors' TARDIS. And then to conclude, what brought him to Earth involving The Nestene Consciousness in the episode "Rose" that re-launched the series. This episode would bridge the 1996 DW telly movie to the current series.
thats a cracking idea

Second half of series six returns to BBC America on Saturday, 27th August at 9PM - cannot wait!!! Time to go back and revisit the first half of the series in preparation...
-
That has sent me off to the BBC web-site checking Uk dates and times... Nothing published yet but "Coming Soon". I'd suggest the new Autumn schedules starting at the August bank holiday weekend 27th - 29th August - which signals the return of children to school - there's never anything major launched during the school/family holiday season. Schedules are usually awash with repeats during that time. There are publicity trailers and names dropped: Cybermen, - The Silence - and the triplets favorite The Weeping Angels again Best clean behind the sofa next episode called - Let's Kill Hitler. I see there is a publicity preview screening of the first second season episode at the British Film Institute on the 15th August with Q & A's with the usual suspects. So if my guess' are right that would be about two weeks prior to the shows return. Martin

When we received news of our return date the first thing I did was check for the UK return date, like yourself, I found nothing other than "coming soon." We are very much hoping that the series will continue to be shown on the same day as the UK......no fun when we are out of sync!

Brutal for Audrey - she absolutely dreads The Weeping Angels!!! As we watched the trailer for the series second-half return, suddenly Audrey yelled, "Oooooohhhhhh, Noooooooooooo!!!" The triplets feel this series has been one of the more scarier/creepier series in general, so they are prepared for nothing less during the second half. Behind the sofa officially vacuumed! ![](http://serve.mysmiley.net/scared/scared0016.gif[/img] [img]http://serve.mysmiley.net/scared/scared0016.gif"/>

Doctor Who back, as usual still on brilliant form in "Let's Kill Hitler". My personal favorite moment of the first episode is the "penny in the air....and the penny drops" moment where, prompted by their friend Mels, Amy pursues a train of incorrect logic trying to make the case Rory is gay, because she has never seen him show any interest in any woman............ "What Rory? How have I got Rory? He's not mine......" Btw as an aside, my parents owned an identical mustard coloured Mini as seen in the opening sequence. Back then it was a budget family vehicle - not the style icon it subsequently became - Ah memories http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6062/6107851867_23fe3d906a_o.jpg Oh and "Shut up Dad, I'm focussing on a dress size" Martin

Let's Kill Hitler was a fantastic episode!!! The Doctor crop circle was very cool! LOVED the Doctor's new coat - wish he would have kept it!!! Always LOVE to see a man in a tux and the Doctor was no exception - very handsome! First River introduced us to hallucinogenic lipstick and now poison lipstick - looking forward to seeing what other types of lipstick are in her collection. We had a good laugh when the Doctor produced the sonic cane. The placing of the TARDIS diary on the night table was brilliant! Thrilled to find the origin of River's "Spoilers!" So many great lines delivered in this episode: Melody: "Penny in the air...and the penny drops." Very sweet! River: "Shut up dad, I'm focusing on a dress size." River: Hang on, just something I have to check...Oh, that's magnificent! I'm going to wear lots of jumpers!" River: "I'm a psychopath, I'm not rude!" Rory: "Shut up Hitler!" Rory: "Okay, okay, I'm trapped inside a robot replica of my wife. I'm really trying not to see this as a metaphor." The Doctor: "Rule One: The Doctor lies." The Doctor as he is interacting with the voice interface: Rose - "thanks, give me guilt" Martha - "also guilt" Donna - "more guilt" Amelia Pond - "Oh, Amelia Pond, before I got it all wrong" LOVE when the Doctor pleads to be given something for the pain and Amelia offers fish fingers and custard - very touching! Found it quite interesting that in the next episode, Night Terrors, scary things, creepy things and anything that is frightening is put into the cupboard. "This is where the monsters go." In this episode, the Doctor instructs Rory to put Hitler in the cupboard. Coincidence??? A great second-half series opener and definitely one of the better episodes - loved every minute of it!!! Edited for missing word.
-
Night Terrors - Sooooo creepy!!! Enjoyed the following lines: Alex: "You're not from Social Services are you?" Alex: "How can it be bigger in here?" The Doctor: "More common than you think, actually!" The Doctor: "He'll be whatever you want him to be." Very eerie chanting - "Don't run away, we just want to play." My daughter Audrey spent most of this episode with her eyes closed! Hope everyone is enjoying the start of the series second half as much as we are - brilliant writing!

With the little that we know of Timelord physiology, having two hearts and able to regenerate up to thirteen times. We do know now that Timelords can even regenerate as children (ala Melody Pond). There's a couple of things I'm thrown of by regarding this. Melody is in NYC in 1970. She re-generates into her second incarnation, the Afro-Brit woman, Mels. When we see Mels in the past, she has known Amy and Rory since they were kids (circa 1996). In her present form as Mels, it seems that a Timelord can grow up (the human side of her. I'm sure young Timelords do, too.) We see her at various times between 1996 and 2011. When Melody regenerates into Mels in 1970, Mels would have been say 7 or 8 years old. So, how she have been able to control her aging process from 1970-1996 when she first met Amy and Rory as kids? How would she have been able to live on her own and find Rory and Amy? Unless she had a TARDIS, highly doubtful, she seems to have lived 36 years as an 7 or 8 year old girl. She has Timelord intelligence, she would have found a way to be adopted by a family or something. And, finally, when Mels used the rest of her regenerative abilities to save the Doctor. So, she is incapable of regenerating anymore and/or ever?

One of the Child re-incarnations took place in New York, as seen in episode one. The final River Song incarnation mentions she once awake as a child in New York during her Let's Kill Hitler re-incarnation. We assume she is the same person and that re-incarnation seen at the end of episode one was the same one - recall we didn't see the end result of that change at the time, just the start. We know that Melody Pond had been stolen by the Demon's Run alliance to be conditioned to kill The Doctor, and that, if she is The Child seen in episode one (assumed by the child's reincarnation), she is looked after/controlled by The Silence during the "Child" incarnation. It's now clear many forces have the ability to travel through time and space - we knew the Daleks did, and saw the Tescellator has the same capacity, so it's clear that the forces using Melody/River probably have the capacity to place her wherever/whenever they deem fit - and clearly thought to place Mels alongside Amy and Rory through their childhood. We cannot be certain of the order of the incarnations, or if there are others, as yet unseen, between The Child, Mels and River. But the storyline that River in saving The Doctor exhausts her "allotment" of re-incarnations may be required to explain the "death" of River Song in the "The Library" story where she first meets The Doctor during the David Tennant/Donna Noble Tenth Doctor's tenure. Although like all good Doctor Who storylines her "death" at that time is presumed rather than confirmed visually - certainly her essence is seen saved by The Library as she joins her lost companions within the Library's memory banks, but the fate of her physical body was unseen. Don't forget we also have The Doctor's Daughter Jenny as played by Georgia Moffet somewhere in the space/time continuum having adventures, having been created by the cloning of the tenth Doctor. Who knows when the Doctor Who script-writers may return to her story-line. Martin PS the Mels/River Song re-incarnation clears up/confirms that Time Lord-like transformations can be inter-racial, being from a Black person to a White person. Apparently The Doctor has always maintained he can become any-one when asked if he could be coloured/black - this on-screen change opens the way for the option to have a black Doctor if they want in future. (btw, I had that as an original observation, but when I visited Whovian sites found that others too were all over the same observation immediately, opening up a hot debate about the notion of a future black Doctor.)

What's going on? Just as soon as The Doctor is back it's coming to an end again.... Tonight episode is episode 12 of series 6 with only the series finale to follow.... At least we should have all the strands come together to explain the Doctor's apparent death at the start of episode one and River Song's part in all that soon. Apparently there will be a mini prequel clip to the series finale on-line shortly after tonight's episode airs: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw and with details of the Christmas special: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/news/bulletin_110920_01/Christmas_Special_The_Stars Martin

The God Complex - very clever episode! Great use of TARDIS blue with the Doctor's bow tie and suspenders (braces), Amy's fingernail polish, and the door of Amy and Rory's blue house. Thought it very interesting that Rory, not superstitious or religious, is shown the exit.
