Message Board Upgrades 01.11.11 & upcoming...
-
I never log out. I just get offline. Power down my laptop & go do whatever. So then when I want to check my business emails, I tend to come back here also. And when I get here, usually by topic notifications, I am not logged in. I re-entered my password, blahblah...hmph! _Before_whenever I'd come, HOWever I'd get here, I'd be logged in.

Nancy R:
How did you get it to stay logged on (in the past)? Hope all these glitches can be fixed soon!
The log in page has a tick box marked "Log me on Automatically each visit" which if checked sets up a cookie on your pc/laptop/device making the log in process automatic. Currently that function is not recognised, nor the session length (the period a log in lasts if the automatic log in function is not set) hence the moment you browse away from the message board your session ends and you have to log in again. Normally you should be able to browse away from the board and return without needing to log in again for up to 60 minutes each session (again your PC sets up a temp cookie on your PC to enable this). You can in part avoid this by keeping your session active on one tab of your browser while conducting other activity on others - if you don't do tabs, then open two sessions of your browser in seperate windows. The other reported problem is that the thread marker does not turn colour (by default from blue to black to denote a thread has been read) during this log in session. Those are the two known, and reported, faults awaiting correction, as yet we have to learn of any other issues.... Martin

No problem doing that at home since my laptop is on all day when I'm at home anyway but I don't think my boss appreciates it when I have pm.com on all day while at work

If I left it logged on, after a short period of inactivity it would log me out.
This is what I have been trying to say and apparently not saying it well.

Btw, I started getting email 'replied to thread' notifications once again (I don't know what I clicked - by accident - to stop these, but I thought they were history)...in fact, that's how I knew the board was back up and running...LOL And this is not to be confused with the adverstisement/reminder emails of up coming events from the main board...that's continued to be intact

That seems to have been one thing that went right from the get-go on the upgrade - those notification e-mail were erratic and unreliable before the upgrade. Each thread has an on/off option at the bottom left - called watching/not watching the topic. There also a Profile option to select for these notifications: Set this:
Always notify me of replies: Sends an e-mail when someone replies to a topic you have posted in. This can be changed whenever you post.
to Yes or No. Martin

The time is off by an hour, so it is not reflecting the change from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time. (it is 9:28am EST as I write this)

Hi Nancy, within your profile you will find a Timezone field. Change the time to GMT -5, this will bring your view of the board to Eastern Standard Time.

There was a thread here called "The Family Way to Double Fantasy" that had all the Beatles albums (and solo albums) listed with pictures and I had saved it, but since the board upgrade the link is no good! I can't seem to find this thread! Can anyone find it? Thanks!

Any case like this..... rewrite the link from the form: maccaboard.devstars.eu/ etc to maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/ with the rest the same and it should then work. Meanwhile I'll find the topic for you Martin

Thanks because I deleted the original URL!

We're going a bit off topic here! Anyway, here's the link to the above mentioned thread: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=73569

Still needing to log on all the time.

We think the problem has been identified: Now if we can just get him to leave our cookies alone we should have this fixed soon..... Thanks to you all for your patience. Martin

Oh, Martin!
