The time I have

I hope it works out. I have an out of tune acoustic guitar I have yet to learn how to play. I got it at goodwill. love doris
What "sound" do you imagine for your lyrics. Edgy? Soft? I'm already sure that you'd want it bursting with melody.

Melody is good what every comes out in a positive thing. The first stanza could be a chorus. love doris

What makes it tough (for me anyway) is that Doris' verses don't follow the same meter. I think it would take some serious finessing of the melody, or holding notes or something, to make it work. or just eliminate the verses that don't fit, keeping verses closest to the same meter. or you could just go to the old trusty method of chopping it all up and filling in your own melody with the bits you should give it a run audi cool poem Doris. each verse twists the reader up in thought. in the sense that for me personally, after each verse basically, I stopped and thought about how each line relates to the next. good stuff.
Happily, the structure is consistent enough. I've got a great melody goin'!

Well, friends, here's what I've done with Doris' heart-tugging poem, The Time I Have. I wrote a melody and chords that I thought best complimented her very emotive words. This is a rough mix, but it'll do for starters. THE TIME I HAVE (lyrics: Doris Mendlovitz / music: audi):
all instruments/vocals: audi (slightly re-worked the words) The time I have I may be here I may be there I may not be everywhere But one thing for sure I am somewhere I could be old I could be young I could be middle aged But one thing for sure I am aging I live in an apartment (no backing vocals) I could live in a house I could live in a mansion Yet I do have a place to live The area where I live (has good peo-ple-oh-oh-oh) The area where I live (has bad people-oh-oh-oh) Or inbetween people Yet look around, take a look around...there's are all... kinds of people (bridge) I can love I can laugh\ I can feel Like the rest of the world I have emotions I have a soul The neighbors have souls The other nations have souls, Take a look all the universe has a soul Does the world wonder (who I am) Does the world wonder (who you are) Now Does the world WONDER who the other half are Guess the whole world don't know each other by Doris Ridge Mendlovitz -
Audi, That was great! Now all you need is a manager to hawk it around to all the record companies and get you a recording contract! Where's Brian Epstein when you need him?!
-
It's a flawed production, but I think this skeleton is the makings of a great track. Thanks, Nans.
-
I like it too, very catchy.

I admire how creative you got with Doris's reflective poem, great phrasing, you carved out a nice appropriate melody there, good tasteful choices. you really seemed to sync up with the vibe Doris had in the piece of writing. And you're a very honest heart felt writer Doris, that I admire also. I am too, we have that in common. That was a worthwhile collaboration if you ask me, congrats on a nice co-write you two. Cool guitar sounds at the beginning
