Come back soon Plastic. You're one of my absolute favourite posters on here, a true gent.
I second that emotion!
We seem to be losing a lot of good members.
Oh No! PLASTIC COME BACK!

That's really sad if Plastic is stepping away from the forum, as I have always learned a lot from his posts. And I don't think anyone should let the behavior of other posters drive them away from this place. The diversity of voices is what makes this site interesting. Hopefully some of these folks will be back.

I wouldn't think it was other posters that would drive him away, other forces methinks. Good God a difference of opinion will be banned soon, maybe sycophancy will be the order of the day here, if it is i'll be long gone too. Maybe we should all be like Stuart Bell and tell it like it isn't, his article on the main site about Paul's Jubilee and Olympic appearances was the most nauseating thing i've read in ages. I do wonder if i'll stick around much longer myself if Plastic and his ilk are being alienated, it's a sad state of affairs indeed.

I was greatly disappointed to read that myself. It would have been better for him not to have written anything at all.

I'm afraid to say that this is in fact Plastic Soul Mans Goodbye to the forum. Its such a shame. A fantastic Paul fan with a wealth of knowledge and a true gent has had enough of what this forum has become. I for one, will miss his posts, as his opinions and knowledge on the great man are second to none in my book. The unfair banning of top rated and popular members. The abuse of power. Certain bigoted posts that were left up for far too long. The double standards of the board, eg allowing bullies and posters who openly attack and slag off other members to continue to post here with no consequences for them and then the banning of good members and macca fans for simply sticking up for themselves and others. I'm afraid the way the forum has declined and what it has become recently may well see the loss of yet more good Macca fans and people. Its a sad day. I would like to wish PSM all the best and a speedy return to the Macca board, although who know's when that may be.
Well I had no idea. I sure will miss Plastic Soul Man. PSM come back someday...us cool people will miss you. I will miss your groovy posts. for some reason, now I cannot listen to Goodbye. I hope all u mean people who hurt PSM are happy.

Careful, not long until the usual suspects will be in to remind us what terrible people we are for giving our opinion.

I am here because I dig Paul McCartney. I am tired of people who come on here to play mind games with nice people. That is all I have to say.

Is a beauty...and bring my memories back...I remember when Mary Hopkins was called "the fifth Beatle"...ah! those days...and Paul voice is so sweet.

There must be about a 100 people who were called the fifth Beatle at one point or another. Paul's voice is just so gorgeous on this song...I get chills whenever I hear it.

Those were the days my friend. There were 5 beatles on the Abbey Road cover i believe, John, Paul, George, Ringo and VW. Great voice, i miss it, at least we have the recordings of him at his peak to enjoy forever.
Given all of the bootlegs that are available of Paul in his prime, both album and non-album tracks, I can overlook some of his shakier vocal moments these days. I still believe that the reason we are so dismayed at how Paul's voice has gotten weaker is because of the level of greatness he started off at. Vocally, he was untouchable in his prime. He's still pretty good for a regular bloke, but because of Paul's voice, he was never a regular bloke, was he? Hence, we a bit harsher on Paul than we might be on other singers.

I think a lot of fans will forgive Paul's weaker voice at gigs, but i think he's deluded to sing at huge televised events that will magnify the deterioration. Paul used to be known for being a perfectionist, i think that Paul has gone as well as the voice. Like a lot of fans have said on other threads i think singing songs he can manage is preferable today, trying to sing songs in the same key as 30 40 years ago is beyond him now, he needs a reality check.
I've said pretty much the exact same thing in several other threads, so all I can do is to post this: I addition to what you wrote, I will add: As you said, his fans will forgive him at concerts for those issues, and he's still great at shows, even with the missed or strained notes, and I'll still line up like a loon to get good seats, but he's not the same as he used to be. I'm okay with that, though, as I cherish every chance I get to see him.

A two-for-one compliment! Those are rare on here--I can now go to bed feeling satisfied that Boycie and I tag-teamed on a good point.

Lovely indeed PSM. Don't know why but always link this with Martha My Dear in the context of who he is writing about.
Upon further reflection in my bathroom mirror singing this tune in my head. I came upon the idea that he is saying goodbye to one love to go to another love. And the song has a looplike feeling like he is flying from one bird to another in a loop and back again. "goodbye my love." Kinda a sad song when I think of it. But beautiful melody and voice.
-
Its a sad state of affairs when such level-headed, popular and knowledgable Macca fans are driven away from a forum that they love. PSM's posts are one's that I always made a point of reading for the reasons I have stated throughout this thread. I know I hear Boycie might be re-thinking posting here Unfortunately there seems to be a regime here. People are always going to disagree and have differing opinions but that's life and it makes life interesting and beautiful. But in recent times it has turned into the control of one set of opinions, and hounding out of posters with those same opinions. The sycophant viewpoint is standing strong and if you don't hold the 'bed of roses' opinion that Paul is perfect and sounds like he did when he was 28 then beware
