hi Macca, Yes you are right they cancel out the less paying booking sites first you have nothing to worry about, also get there early most of the time they will get you in before time. Where are you staying? I would also like to meet you this time around. Are you going to the Irish pub Sat night?
-
On overbooking, I worked at the front desk of the Tropicana back in the day. We allways overbooked because a large percentage doesn't show up. And its first come first serve, The last people checking in get walked to another hotel.
-
The downtown hotels seem to all be booked at present. Kelly, we're at the Hilton by Busch Stadium. About a 20 minute walk. Haven't asked friend about the Irish Pub. I don't drink and didn't see much on it for me to eat since I'm veggie. It isn't a veggie friendly menu. It will also depend on how knackered we are after my drive and her train ride. Check in is at 4 PM but I plan to be there by 3 PM.

Tickets (TM) arrived today.

Does anyone want to share a room in St. Louis? Sandy
-
Where are you staying? Or do you have reservations? I am a male so that would count me out but just curious because I thought some one else asked on this thread previously.
-
Don't count yourself out. Depending on the room, I don't really care who I share with. So long as you are a gentleman and know your boundaries, we could share a room. I don't have a reservation, I just have my ticket to see PAUL.
-
Sandy, check your private messages. I'm that person, Kelly. I have a room and would be willing to share. Janet
-
Awesome... I just replied to you.
-
Cool Janet, and Sandy let me know if it does not work out. I may have other idea's

The Millennium Hotel is still available. I did that $55 deal on Hotwire that a few people mentioned, and that's where I wound up. (The $55 Hotwire special is now sold out, but you can book the Millennium directly on the hotel's site for around $120 or $130) Of course, now that I've read page after page of horrible reviews, I'm now highly regretting it. If a room opens up at a better hotel, and is under $200 a night, I may rebook, and just eat my two nights at the Millennium.... (since i can't cancel it.)
-
We are paying over $200 for Saturday but under for Sunday and it averages out to less than $200 per night. And it is divided by two people. With the reviews I've read on the Millenium, I won't be booking there--not to mention we have accommodation.

With Priceline, you pay in advance. Do the hotels treat these reservations as 'first come first served' in an overbooking situation? Do they refund your money if they don't save your room?

I've decided to just let my Millennium Hotel booking go to waste.... If it's even half as bad as the reviews claim, I do NOT want to be there..... So I wasted $130... Not the end of the world. I've lost more in 5 minutes at a casino.... I wound up booking the show night, (11/11) at the Sheraton, right next to the venue. I'm trying to get 11/10 there too, but that night is sold out... Going to keep checking back constantly for an opening. I figure at least one room will eventually open up. (and worst case scenario, I have my Millennium reservation to fall back on.) I'm surprised 11/11 is available at the Sheraton and 11/10 is sold out.... figured it would be the other way around. Weird.

I have a question if anyone can answer. I got the hot sound package and was wondering they said they would send your package stuff the week before the concert, will it tell you what time to be there for the sound check? The reason I'm asking is because I did get my tickets but no info. Any help is appreciated.

Not in my past expierience , that is how I almost never got my money back because I had paid in advance. Amother reason I go directly to the web site of the hotel.

Awww, another one bites the dust on the Millennium Hotel reservation! I am pretty nervous after reading the reviews, not gonna lie. But - I've also read plenty that say it's fine just not super fancy. I suppose Akiboh and I can deal with that. Especially for the price. We couldn't afford anything more expensive. I'm going to call and request the North Tower, which I hear is much much better than the south. Hopefully they'll honor it even though we didn't book direct. If it's as bad as they say...look out! We'll come crashing someone else's room! I kid, I kid... Anything for Paul..

I stayed at that Sheraton 2 years ago, it was just fine back then. And it's right across the street from Scottrade. Am surprised it's not sold out yet for the night of the concert.

The Sheraton is still available on concert night, but comes up as sold out on the night prior to the show (Nov 10). Meanwhile I just called the Sheraton to see if i could get put on a waiting list for Nov 10. To my surprise, they were able to reserve me for both nights, so now I am all set. (Apparently, the hotel put aside a block of rooms for some convention on the 10th, but were able to give me one.) I'm only going to be in town for two nights, and not renting a car, so I like being right next door to the Scottrade Center. And I'll either walk, or take taxis for the few sightseeing spots I'm planning to check out during the day.

I usually do the same and book directly with the hotel. But after pricing around, and seeing such a huge price difference, I decided to take a gamble this time with Hotwire... and I lost. It happens.

Yeah, I'm bailing on my Millennium reservation. I just can't deal with it. I booked it for $55 on Hotwire, because they consider it a "3-star" hotel. In the past, I've had really good luck with Hotwire. 3-star hotels are usually comfortable enough. But the reviews on this place, make it sound like a 1-star, at best. This is my 1st time coming to St. Louis, and I'd rather not be stressed out.... waiting til after 8pm to check in to my room because the front desk is understaffed, and another 30-45 minutes every time i need an elevator. That sort of crap is just not for me.... (plus, I'm travelling with my 7-year old son... rather not test his patience after 4.5 hours of flying!) A few bad reviews are understandable.... but the 800+ reviews on this place are almost unanimously bad, and say the same things.
