Awww, another one bites the dust on the Millennium Hotel reservation!
I am pretty nervous after reading the reviews, not gonna lie. But - I've also read plenty that say it's fine just not super fancy. I suppose Akiboh and I can deal with that. Especially for the price. We couldn't afford anything more expensive... If it's as bad as they say...look out! We'll come crashing someone else's room!
I kid, I kid... Anything for Paul..
Haha! Let's be real...the room is really just a place to put our belongings and then freak out..
oh-so-true. I would say it's just a place to sleep...but...we all know I won't be able to sleep. Especially not on Saturday night...
The Millenium is showing up at around $120 now.
I found a $47 hotel, but it's 11 miles from the Scottrade Center. Anything to save some money at this point, as this trip is going to gut me financially!
Yeah...apparently that's the going rate for the Millenium. We just got lucky (or not-so-lucky if you read the reviews
) on Hotwire. $47/night is a great price, if the hotel is decent enough. 11 miles away isn't ideal, but it's not that far away. Not sure how much it would be to drive to the arena and park...but it may be cheaper to cab it to/from the hotel if you book there.
I was curious because I am debating where to stay also. So I looked up Yellow Taxi and their rates are $3.00 for the first 1/10th mile and .20 for every 1/10th there after so the way I have it figured, and I am not a math whiz..LOl... 11 miles would be $4.80 for the first mile and 2.00 for the remaining 10 miles so you are looking at 24.80 one way...I also looked up parking near the venue at Central Parking and it is $ 10.00 a day Max. Somebody check my math. I also looked up on Mapquest the amount of Gas used for a drive down would be for my car about 2.45 one way. Much cheaper to drive down if you can.
I'm thinking event parking rates will apply, and be anywhere from $30 to $50. Still cheaper than a cab, and you don't have to call and wait for one, as well. As far as public transport, I've taken it post concert before at a variety of venues, and it's always PACKED after a show or event, and won't be near my hotel, I don't think, so I'm going with my own vehicle versus these other options.
-
I agree and when I was there in 2010 it seems I paid around 15 bucks for parking. by looking at the Metro Map it appears to be very limited as far as the routes are concerned it looks as though they are basically one route north to south.

Our hotel is .7 of a mile from Scott Trade Center. We are planning on walking. I am now in training.

Cindy and I are staying at the Sheraton downtown. Had no problems booking a room but did that as soon as I had ordered our tickets. Looks like it is right across the street from Scottrade. We are arriving early Sunday afternoon as well.

How many people here are staying at the Sheraton?? I am curious, maybe we could contact them and have a get together in one of their meeting rooms on sat afternoon before or after dinner. I have been to a concert for another band where because there was so many people booked at that hotel for the concert that they let us use the meeting room and we played Dvd's and had some adult beverage's and people brought copies of boot legs to hand out or trade. It was a lot of fun, after that we all went to a local bar to continue the party and after the show we went back to the room. Just throwing out idea's if anyone is interested.

No, but walking 10 minutes a day isn't bother me. Done it two days in a row now.
Working up to 30 by concert time. My wonderful sister has been walking with me and I can walk and talk at the same time. I think she wants to make sure I don't have a heart attack.

We're not at the Sheraton, but I think we'd be up for a meet up there. I am going to call over the weekend to see what our chances of staying there are. I'm guessing slim and none.

They have released more rooms go on line and check it out I just got my second day there finally. Are you OK Linda?? I did not mean to make light of walking or working up to it.
-
party at the Sheraton sounds great. Even if I'm at the Hyatt. Keep me posted on details people.
-
well, it is not totally on yet but let me see what I can do...I need to know about how many are willing to do so, as to determine the size of the room.

I'd also be interested in a meet-up if they would allow it!

My mother and I are staying at the Sheraton in Clayton, about 15 minutes from the Scottrade Center. But we are getting into town early Saturday now, as I just got PTO approved for that day; we might be interested in a meetup if it pans out!
-
Sounds good..I have to try to get ahold of someone, but I am waiting a few to see about how many we could possibly have there.

I am totally out of shape and will still be walking. I need to lose some weight and this is my incentive to start.
ops: I'm two days in to the walking. Didn't get to walk today because I was babysitting with my niece's sick daughter. We now are staying at the Sheraton at a different rate than shown online. It's refundable and the online rates were all non-refundable. We are on the club level and I get to park for free, which I didn't get to do at the Hilton.

Good for you! It's amazing what Paul can inspire us to do, isn't it?

Paul has me inspired. I know I won't be a svelte model by November 11, but I will be on my way to a much healthier lifestyle. Something else for which I have Paul to thank. Please don't make fun of me when you meet me. I'm working on it for the first time in years. Last time I got overweight, I lost it by having emergency surgery for something totally unrelated to the weight. I don't need to do that again.
