It should have been a single

People we're talking about a dude who released Ebony and Ivory as the first single off Tug Of War, a dude who had to be talked into releasing Jet as a single, and a dude who thought Hey Jude was wrong for a single!!! There's heaps more examples. His judgment on singles is pretty bad... I like the suggestions on this thread!!!

Sometimes you just know an album track would have been a number one Through Our Love
im kinda glade its not i love this one alot and im so glade its underground ish not your typical radio song leave it be ; )
It's a gorgeous production. That's its strength. Its weakness, unfortunately (please don't hate me), is that the song... well ... is... over-arranged. The melody is too faint, perhaps lost in the lush production -- I don't know, but it's barely discernible to my ears.
I'm with you, Audi! I've always thought "Through Our Love" is a lovely little song that's buried in overdone, gloppy production. It was neither the first nor the last time that Paul committed that sin, in my eyes. That said, I think it might have been a hit in the early or mid-'70s. Not sure if it would have been big by the time he actually recorded it.

Goodtimes Coming / Feel The Sun was definitely the single off Press to Play IMO. was that released on any Press-era singles?

A little perspective here: "Ebony and Ivory" was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven straight weeks. That's longer than "My Love" (4 weeks), "Band on the Run" (1 week), "Listen to What the Man Said" (1 week) and "Silly Love Songs" (5 weeks), among others. "Jet" only made it to #7. "Ebony and Ivory" was also #1 in Britain, Canada and Germany. If that's an example of poor choice of singles, I'm Mitt Romney.

Agree, and Jet is one of my fav Macca songs. I just dig the flow of the song. as played out as it can seem live these days. definitely a single.

I am pro Jet! Just saying he had to be talked into lifting it off the album.

a 3 minure radio edit of "Some People Never Know" (in other words: the song without the percussion-outro) could have been a hit, i guess.

Those first three are among my top 10 favourite solo Paul songs!

It was a single here in the UK, but stalled at 39 in the charts which was shame.

The Back Seat Of My Car was released as as a single in the UK instead of Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey which was a single and a hit in US and some other countries. I remember Paul commenting why Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey was not a single in the UK. He said he "didn't want to keep selling the past" I never knew what he exactly meant by this. Did he think it sounded too much like The Beatles (I don't think it does). So why anyway did it get issued as a single in US and elsewhere. I guess he did not have as much control outside the UK.

I wish the song McCartney gave to the Everly Brothers "On The Wings Of A Nightengale" was done by McCartney and released as a single.

Yeah, maybe. But I love the Everlys' version, and I'm glad it was at least a modest hit for them.

The Macca demo is quite nice. I wish that Paul had released Veronica! I want the song with Paul's lead vocal! The hofner bass on that is sublime...
