Hello Everyone, I came from a strict family but I didn't realize how strict until later. I am not a strict parent---I believe in a parent staying involved in their child's life in a positive, more open way than I experienced---but a certain degree of discipline and respect is definitely called for. "Children should be seen and not heard," should go the same way as "A man's home is his castle." Sorry guys, but the world is a better place for the freedoms we now have and that goes for children too. On the plus side, my parents were very strict but at the same time, since my dad was involved in show business, I was exposed to all sorts of music, theatre, art, ballet, etc. I had a wonderful childhood that way; I just wish some of the other stuff had been easier. Talk to you tomorrow. Hugs, Jennifer

Hi Sam hope you have a nice weekend, i may go bowling tomorrow night if i am feeling better. Hey Tashi, Kathy, Paulfan, and all have a good weekend!!
-
Hi Sara, have a good weekend yourself. Jen, it seems like you grew up in a strict time. I think it is good to have more freedom these days but I agree with you that a certain amount of discipline is needed. The 50s were too strict and these days are too liberal meaning kids get away with alot such as school shootings, too many drugs and bullying. I think we may have to balance it out a little. As my cousin told me you can't be ultra conservative or ultra liberal you have to balance it out and I think that is the best way to go.

Hi Kathy Here in the UK we don't see anything unusual about lefties. In fact left footed soccer players are much sought after by coaches, BTW your cheque for the book came today...thanks loads. Love and hugs. Sam.
Now I feel wanted over there...I should move to the other side of the world like I was "planning to".
But, we all know that if Kathy does move, it would be to either the UK or to Germany. I just like those type of things, I guess. Sam, you were supposted to leave me a PM!!!
*You can do it now if you want and ramble about nothing...I just like getting PMs....
* Oh, no problem. I hope that was enough.
I hope Sara, Jen, Paulfan and all the others have a great weekend. Me? I'm off studying for my damn hellish finals. Hey, it builds character...;) But, it has to be done! And I will blow them away.
I think I can anyways....opps, there goes the 1100 posts....I'm getting there...slowly. So slowly!
Too bad for all those "bad teenager" stuff I never seem to fall into. Instead, I'm known as being a "goody-goody" just becuase I don't want some guy down my pants. *Pardon the French, there* and that I don't do drugs or anything. I cannot say I don't drink, becuase during dinner I'm allowed wine, but I just think that's a custom in my house, anyways. It's not like I'm drunk or anything. It's just wine with your dinner. It's actually good for you. Merlott is always a good choice!

Hi Sam #3 (Samcat). Thanks for boosting my site. It's keeping us way ahead. I think we should make our votes for Saturday after 5.15pm Eastern if possible so we can get a good start for the next time period. Maccascruff: Thanks for voting. BTW I don't have your first name. Kathy: Some people have many silly prejudices but just for being left handed is the worst, and funniest, I've ever heard off. Paulfan: Years ago older generations often had a `down' on younger people but nowadays that's not so acute. And that's mainly thanks to The Beatles. Tashi: (Stylegurrl): I can't believe how cold it iis up in the North East, Make sure you keep indoors and wrapped up. And always remeber to have blankets and hot water bottles in your car...just in case. Back later. Cheers Sam.
Sam. It is a group effort. Cheers! Sam C.

Hi Paulfan: When I was young most adults expected children to be seen but not heard. Physical chastisement was usual, parents giving the belt or Teachers throwing chalk at you or making liberal use of the cane. My Parents weren't like that but many were. Today that sort of punishment is frowned upon. On the other side of the coin we have Schoolchildren going wild nowadays. So a middle road should be our goal. The Beatles did much to advance the cause of Teenagers. Cheers Sam.
Hello Sam, Although I lived in England from 1967 to 1970, until I moved there, I had NEVER heard of the Beatles. Believe it or not. My father played in a country and western band in France, and we never heard anything of the Beatles in my home. Although, I enjoyed their music from 1967 forward, the Beatles had no effect on my life other than I loved their music and I still do! At any rate, when I saw an early picture of them for the first time, I thought they were fans of Moe Howard of the Three Stooges. After all, Moe Howard was one of the only stars who wore his hair like that. Cheers, Sam

Hi Jennifer, There is something to be said for what Sam said...something like being in the middle of the road. Although I was raised in such an (children should be seen and not heard)environment, it has tempered me from doing things I should not be doing, so it did me some good; however, young children do no come with a manual, and each needs different methods. I do think that our generation got softer treatment than the last one. Some of the stories my father told me about his childhood..... I do like the A man/woman's home is his/her castle phrase because of Constitutional reasons. I do know where you are coming from though, Jen. Take care and have a wonderful holiday this weekend! Sam C.

Hi Samcat. That's amazing that you hadn't heard of the Beatles until 1967. But I'm sure you've made up for it since. BTW we won again quite easily which makes it 12 from the last 14. Let's keep it going. Cheers. Sam.

My last message today will have to be a mass post. Samcat David Seaman has finally retired but he's had a great career and we should remember his great work.....not his gaffes. Hi Sara, I'm doing okay but still kind fo sad this weekend. Hey Sam how is everything going? I put Little Willow on in my cd player since I'm sad and felt like listening to a sad song. Remember how Paul talked up men covering up their emotions? I decided to elt mine out in private. I hope time will make me feel better and I do have to keep ploughing on through as you say.
-
Hi Giri (Paulfan). You've got your whole life ahead of you..and this IS the best time. Be happy and don't let an occaisional bad day get you down. You've got plenty of fun time ahead...you'll see. Goodnight. Cheers. Sam.
