Paul's Band mates forming their own bands-WHY?
-
I don't mean they are too old to be out there playing quality music, nor should they be. But I don't think they will have a huge impact on the musical world either. They'll hopefully have a nice following and will make some fans.

I always thought Rusty was the one most excited about playing with Paul. (in the beginning I mean)

Since the guys are hired hands and don't write music with Paul, get any recognition these days onstage besides thanking "this band of mine", and don't work most of the year with Paul except for the tours and if Paul happens to be doing an album and wants them to play on a track or two, it makes sense for them to keep making their own music. Paul even lets Brian sell his CD's at the concerts, and I recall him having a link to Rusty's webpage years ago when Rusty had a new CD out. Paul encourages it, and knows the deal. If they were a real band and wrote together, it'd be absolutely different, but the band are Paul's back-up group at live events, that's it. ETA: PLUS, Paul has played on their albums, so he obviously approves of them doing this work.

What they are doing is just what all the musicians usually do! They are talented and creative musicians with decades of carreer and they always had their side projects. There's nothing wrong and I think there's no need to worry or to ask about it!
