Message me if you'd like and we can figure it out. I've seen you for a long time on this board so I really would be happy to save you a spot if I can (plus you have the good Paul luck!)

Oh, one other thing - if towards the end of the week, you decide to use supershuttle.com, I'd recommend booking online in advance. Right now, you can get a 10% discount typing in FBFAN in the discount code box. parlance

Anyone here think this is the ideal show to debut a song from his new cd??

I have a backpack with just essentials (my Macca backpack from Memphis gold package), so its going into the festival with me. I'm leaving Saturday night, so I don't need much. I'm flying into SFO around 8am and have decided to cab it to Golden Gate park (since I'm coming with someone it won't be so expensive). I want to get in line as early as possible to claim a decent space near the stage. My main worry now is getting the guy up early enough to catch our flight to SF on Friday morning. lol Getting super excited.

I'll be bringing my "Out There" backpack as well, figure it is small enough to not be a huge burden but can still shove a few essentials in it and also just bring it to work with me that morning. Good luck with everything with your flight and travel to GGP, hope you're able to get a good Paul viewing spot! Good idea with the cab, since there is still no deal reached for BART.

Show of hands. Who all is going to wait in front of the stage all day as soon as the gates open?
-
fyi, Outside Lands allows food into the park. so that's convenient if you've got the munchies but don't want to risk losing your spot. I still hate that they make people pay for water though. gosh I'm getting nervous. this happens before every festival/concert! ops: months of planning, and all I can do now is hope everything goes right. Good luck to everyone who's flying/driving in early this week!

Good news! The Governor stepped in so BART will be running. That will make things a lot easier on Friday for so many people.

Yay! This eliminates one of my stresses! Does anyone know off the top of their head the BART stop closest to the park?

Unfortunately none of the stations are close enough to walk (IMO), the easiest transfer is probably the N-Judah from any of the downtown stops. Or take muni bus from other stations. My concern is not so much getting there as getting out -- there will probably be a super long wait for public transit when it's over. The festival offers a 3-day pass for $39 which is a coach bus from GGP to Civic Center. I would assume that would be less of a wait, but don't have any first hand experience. Good luck!

I've been looking at the festival map and I see two entrances. Since I'm coming from teh airport I was going to ask the cab driver to take me to the south entrance. but are the roads going to be closed in teh park and if so, where should I tell the cab driver to drop me off. Do any of you have any idea? also anybody want to catch a cab with me and my friend afterwards? we could call and book it and then go out for a drink or soemthing. Just an idea. I know I won't want to go straight back to the hotel when its over.

Agreed, I would do Muni from any of the downtown stations to get to the park. We are going to do the Outside Land shuttle from Civic Center BART even though we are only going Friday night. We didn't want to chance missing the last train back to the East Bay by waiting for public transportation since BART doesn't run all night.

ANY show would be an ideal show to debut a new song. I think the next three shows will be continuations of what the tour has been doing, since there is no indication the band is practicing new songs from the CD. It is not likely they will just go up and do a new song. Now, Japan is another story!

I bought the 3 day shuttle pass, but I don't think it starts running until 10 and I hoped to at least be lined up by then. I'm thinking I'll probably take a taxi. Thanks for your input.

I don't remember what the south entrance was like but I was dropped off at the north entrance a couple of years ago and the street was closed at some point. I had to walk quite a bit. It'll probably be the same situation for the south entrance but there will be people in OSL shirts around the park who can guide you. the muni stop at Civic Center is always crowded with a bunch of hipsters during Outside Lands weekend at least when you see them, you'll know you're headed in the right direction!

Does anyone know when Paul and the guys will be doing their sound check? I just happened to stumble upon their sound check at Bonnaroo and it was on Thursday night there. Will it be the same at Outside Lands--I mean since the Lands End stage will be occupied all day on Friday?

I think there will be a soundcheck tonight. I would guess 8ish would be an appropriate time like Bonnaroo.

I believe we Got Lucky (pun intended.) I feel like with the addition of Nile Rodgers and Chic right before Paul, more fans will flock there in the event of a potential Daft Punk appearance and diverting them away from the stage.
