Indeed, RIP Clive Burr. He was an excellent drummer and an integral part of Maiden from 1980-82, and thus the maiden and Metal story itself. Those 3 classic albums were all the better for his drumming. When I heard the news, I played Killers in his honour and as a salute. I hope he is getting a very decent spot in that awsome house band up there. The first time I saw Maiden live, it was a benefit gig at the Hammersmith Apollo on the 2/9/05, the Early Years tour , in aid of the Clive Burr Trust. An excellent gig, at at the end they wheeled him out to say hi to the crowd, and he was surrounded by all 6 Maiden members. Excellent. That is a very cool story Shaun, so how do yo know Dennis Stratton? Are you freinds, or did you seek him out as a Maiden Fan?
I am just a fan , Dennis is a great guy I had a really fun time meeting him as well!!!! When I was visiting Clive and Mimi one of the CliveAid shows she was showing me photos of was a pretty special gig ,Maiden did not play but Bruce and Paul Di'Anno both sang that night. I wonder how many times they have been on the same show.
bruce and paul (not macca) in one night and venue that would have been a night one big maiden fan moment
AH, yes I think I have heard about that. Think it was a very small pub venue, not a big deal was made of it before it happned, just a special moment that occured. Really looking forward to seeing Maiden at this years Download Fesival. It's the Maiden England tour- the set list and stage designed around the Seventh Son era. It toured the states last year- did either of you two go to see it?

Excellent! Picked up the Maiden England DVD and CD. It really is excellent stuff of this awsome band at their 80's peak. Who here is a fan of Rush? Not really metal but mostly hard roc. Seeing them end of May, which will be my 3 rd time and, again, excited for it. Last time i saw them in 2011 they played the entire Moving Pictures album, this time they are supposed to play the entire Clockwork Angels album, thier most recent work and best in decades.

Not to hijack this thread, but you might like my band's lead guitarist. He's a metal lover, too -- and he's a friggin' prodigy on guitar. Here are three of us jamming on an original:

I thought that they were OK when they were kinda' big, but I posted that particular vid because I love how the frontman handled a couple of wankers in the audience at 02:30.

I love this! Cracks me up. Members of Metallica are having to be quite patient while guitarist Kirk struggles to learn James' new riff:
