Paul, Come To Australia

Promotion for the new album. If they did ask about an Australian tour, watch Paul morph into the PR man...that or it's been edited out.

Inspite of all that, I really, REALLY do believe we will see him out here this year. I have good reason to, and I trust my source...everytime.

http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/we-can-work-tour-out--mccartney-20120204-1qz8m.html Did any of this air? "You know, we've got a lot in common. So yeah, I hope one of these days to get back there. I would love to." The 69-year-old said his last plans to tour Australia were cancelled after the Bali bombings in 2002. "Actually the last time we were very nearly there, it was just before the Bali bomb and we were almost going to go but then suddenly we were like: 'It's not time to be jolly.' But ah, so we're still working on it," he said. McCartney and his management team have been in talks with at least two big promoters for six months about the potential tour.

Hmm, the TV interview itself wasn't too in-depth, bit of a puff piece. I wish they had aired the footage of him talking about touring here, seems like we're on his mind at least, which is a good thing. Dare we get excited?

Nope none of that was in there, which was extremely dissapointing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he has done a TV interview with Australian media since the 2002 balls up - they could have really had something with this interview, and instead they just did a mediocure job that anyone with Google could have just as well. Shame. Source you say?

Ian M used to have carte blanche access to everyone including Paul. The last time I saw a dedicated piece expressly for Australia, was Live 8. I've shot off emails to Ross Coulthart...if I get an answer I'll let you know. I've a feeling it was edited out of the final report. No surprises there...BUT...stay tuned...don't give up. 2012 will be the year.

Remember though Coulthart would only have been allocated a certain time to chat - maybe 10 mins. I'm more encouraged that Paul sat down for a dedicated piece expressly for us...Just hearing him say the words, "Australia" and "aussies" tells me he still knows about us!!!

Report in yesterday's Melbourne Herald-Sun, about prospective acts touring this year...another mention of a McCartney tour in the works. Something is definitely bubbling under the surface...
-
Sounds like it's the closest its been for a while. If it gets announced, what's the best way to go about getting tickets - as someone who's never been to a show with such high demand. Is this a camp outside the ticket stand kind of deal? I imagine online sales would be hard to obtain, since everyone will be trying to get them at the same time haha

Any cigar there mate?? Good efforts anyway!!!! I'm still around, but not as full on as I was 10 years ago haha. (10 year old thread - not a bad effort!!)

My daughter is still in Australia so I have regularly a look on this thread. We had a surprise in Europe yesterday : 3 new dates at the end of March. Knowing that he will be at the Diamond Jubilee on June 4th, could he be in Australia in April or May ? I am quite confident that he will do a real world tour - not only limited to USA and Europe - this year and it will be probably the last. But when will they announce the dates ???
-
I have been hearing this talk for nearly 20 years and if he were to come here based on what he was charging in 2002 for the cancelled tour you would be up for hundreds. When I saw him in 2010 in the UK I paid 60 pounds fat chance that would happen here. I will believe it when I see it. Also 2002 he couldn't move enough tickets to sell out the venire because it was so expensive..

For anyone who hasn't seen the interview from the Sunday Night program: http://paulontheruntour.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/sir-paul-mccartney-2012-interview.html

I'm not sure if it is??? Several big acts have been here multiple times since the cancellation. Surely it's not THAT hard?

It's a good sign promoters are competing for him. It's a bad sign that after all this time, nobody has landed the Big Mac yet!

DO IT PAUL! JAPAN, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND!!!
