"heartless" maintains the #2 position this week on the Indigenous charts

Um...I seem to recall another mix of "Painted Ladies"...noticeably (to me) absent from the Canary Robbery playlist... ...

You would be referring to this original home demo:
I beleive I still have it out there for the public to find. I just promote the one we did in the studio, not sure which is better I noticed a sudden change at Reverbnation, CR went from in the 500's to the 80's overnight! sweet. -
hey kapoo thank you for the congrats
kapoo:
Who's #1? provide a link to their music, I'll tell you if you're deserving of that #1 spot
haha, no, i won't give them such free publicity hahaha regardless, it's hardly about 'deserving' - it's all about how many votes people get them to vote.. so even if my music was rubbish (which according to all the listeners who i know it isn't hahaha), if i could get the most votes per week (promotion), then i would remain high in the charts. the chart itself has varied styles of music, with only 3 or 4 rock songs (1 being mine) at most. the current #1 (which is at #1 about 4 weeks now i think) is another of the rock acts also.
kapoo:
Dude, on Reverbnation I've been #1 all over the world. real small towns in Russia, remote islands, my band rules in places like that. we're ranked 80-ish and falling down the charts here in my hometown of Chicago currently.
congrats! as for reverbnation, my current rank on there is #3 for the local (trinidad) rock chart your song is great! thanks for sharing
-
audi:
Reverbnation has recently updated its ranking method -- which was lonnnnnng over-due. There were folks in the Top Ten who had no business being there -- zero Reverbnation activity and no apparent 'widget" activity. It was frustrating.
hahaha yes
audi:
Anyway, now that they've fixed their system, Sur Rod fell from 18 and has been teetering between 26 and 27 for the past week or so -- which is still impressive, considering that we don't play out and don't have thousands of Facebook "likes"...yet.
congrats still for being on the upper quarter still on there
audi:
So, it looks like simplyrahil's #2 ranking is an honest ranking, which is a good thing.
well, just to clarify - the 2 weeks @ #2 that i announce is about actual radio charts here in Trinidad a weekly-rated chart on a programme called 'Indigenous' which airs every Thursday night on 91.1fm locally. so, not reverbnation (online) charts real radio of course, it still depends on the listeners and fans to vote and all of that which goes with promotion, so i've managed to have the currently-charted song go from #10 to #2 in 1 week and remain there since. hopefully i can maintain that or go to #1 soon instead there is also lobbying going on for other songs of mine that the programme has to get on the charts as well thanks for your input audi

Man, the fact you did this song as well and flushed out as you did, and your vibe on it, you capture the vibe the Beatles themselves had on it, loose and fun. and trippy. nice ending man, couldn't imagine doing it any better. anyway at the beginning I think I started to say I love the choice of song. Says something about your great taste in music excellent job. What year did you record that? Rahil - Lovely Rita cover
-
Man and this song is great! you have some gems tucked away Damian, Get Off The Computer
that has a lot of potential imo. I hear adding a heavier rhythm, what you're doing but more pronounced. maybe just a bigger bass drum. Thats a sweet jam ! -
hahaha thank you for checking out the 'lovely rita' cover and for your kind compliments about it that was recording on december 11th, 2009 home-demo quality of course, as it is in my room with open-air, 1 computer mic, each instrument different distances from my computer, etc. haha (these are the reasons for the quality of my home-demos versus real studio recordings of my albums) thank you for feeling the feeling haha @ 'damian, get off the computer' totally not intended for any official release or studio recording hahaha totally just fun there was a local music forum many years ago and when ppl were bored, to make them laugh, i would come up with such tunes quickly and record them (same home-demo style but instead of real drums, since they were 'jokey tunes' for quicker execution i used the keyboard drums instead versus everything else i ever record which uses real drums) so this was one such 'jokey tune' haha you may laugh at
especially when i give the blatant 'advice' hahaha -

thank you kapoo well foreign (for me) radio-play, yes, a great step beyond the local (Trinidad) radio-play as with the Indigenous charts, etc. and other local radio airplay spots in the past and t.v. sometimes too and i do welcome and look forward to more some from t.v.: Rahil Babooram on Gayelle-tv's Dayprime - 2010-05-03 (7 parts)

well being an artiste who is vegan and concerned with animal rights and the environment, i do have 3 versions of Kalau Nasty (metal, reggae and acoustic), and a few other vegan/animal rights songs a local trance dj is even working on a trance remix of 'kalau nasty' to be released this year so it would reach an even wider crowd here is another of my other vegan/environmentally-themed songs: 'all on you' (album recording to be released on 'Cuatro' by nextweek) acoustic performance from 2008-05-10:
'kalau nasty' original metal version (1999): and a couple other such songs which i won't show off just yet on here so yes, such issues are a standard part of my songwriting in any casekapoo:
Great song too, I like your Krishna lyric pattern at the end
thank you very much Krsna-consciousness is a standard part of my songwriting too apart from various Krsna-conscious inspired songs within each of my 4 albums thus far, my entire 1st album 'Gaura-Vani' (1999) was a purposely fully Krsna-conscious album. Gaura-Vani album promo (1999):
thank you for your kind interest kapoo and to anyone else reading/listening -
Very nice, I actually like your harder edged produced / live rock show style better than the acoustic set-up, go figure I think you should record 'Kalua Nasty the Metal Version', and do everything the same, maybe overdub another sweet sounding guitar, but overdub you singing the vocal normally, over the top of the growl vocal you do. That would sound good having you do a regular vocal on that too. I like. you're well know around your parts, I didn't realize how well known you were. Good work with it all. All the best

haha, thank you! that's a nice idea about re-recording a 4th version of 'Kalau Nasty' mixing the normal voice over the growl voice
kapoo:

not as well-known as i would like/should be hehe there is still more publicity to be had locally than i have had thus far, and this is especially due to the divide in the coverage of different music genres down here.. rock usually gets a back-burner.. but i strive to get myself and my music more known outside of that 'rock circle' (which happens with those general t.v. appearances and such airtime as on the Indigenous radio charts) which is important as an artiste to achieve thank you for your good wishes and all the same to you

simplyrahil:
here's my latest cover "with a little help from my friends"
audio alone -Very nice, you have a fun vibe similar to the Beatles themselves on these kinds of Beatles tracks. and your Ringo impersonation at times plays into that well. so cmon, lay that regular vocal over the top of Kaluha Nasty I wanna hear this. Hey just in the spirit of sharing music, this is an old rock tune I turned reggea, sort of similar to some of the grooves you laid down in your songs, you might enjoy. also our friend audi put drums on it, so thats him bangin percussion! which is cool. its a tune called 'Weaving'
and an even less known, but kept and loved on my end, audi's 'Weaving (Maraca Mix). great feel. its a rough call for me, I like you're heavier snare ihe other one. combine them the first line of that song like ruins the song basically I have versions where I don't say something idiotic there, flying, regea style again... tryin, to find my stride again... there's a multitude, but yet I find it in myself to go with imparied driving. : ops: -
hehe, cool stuff there guys thank you for sharing it as for doing the 'new' (4th version it would be) of "Kalau Nasty" i would prefer to do that in studio than to make heard a home-demo version, but maybe i will try it sometime and if it sounds ok enough at home, i will let you hear haha (i was ok with letting you hear the actual album/studio recordings of it because it was of course with that quality ) i'll think about it thank you for the compliments regarding WALHFMF haha ♪
