As i said i coulda sworn i saw Ringo there, it was so brief i didnt get a real good look at the red carpet show as you said he coulda snuck in, well Yoko is supposed to be there and possibly Olivia Harrison to accept George's awards. I sure hope there's more to a Beatles tribute, Damn it, that lame Justin won best male pop vocal song.. UGH, gross, no talent...

Hi Sara ~ Hi everyone Wish I could get the Grammys on Tv here in Australia but from what I've read about the Beatles tribute act/singers I'm not missing much! Nothing better than the real thing I say! dB
-
Hey Db, Sam and Everyone well you're not missing much lol, Olivia Harrison, Yoko Ono accepted the Presidental award for the Beatles on behalf of George and John and Paul and Ringo were there via satellite from London accepting their half, i think the tribute they did to them wasn't good at all, i mean i would've rather heard Yoko sing than the ones they chose!! lol. A bit disappointing really that after the 40 years of music the Beatles have given us they get a measly not even 10 minute tribute, it's nice they were honored for the award, but still they could've done a bit more. And it was nice George won for Best Pop Instrumental for Marwa Blues, but it's disgusting Justin whatever his name is won in the other categories, what has music come to? IF you can even call it that anymore.
-
Ick!!!! Damn YOU JUSTIN!!!!!!!!!! GAH!!! I'm shocked and appaled! Psh!
-
The Grammy's attempt to honor the Beatles has so far been pathetic. The opening song was done half hearted. Crowd doesn't seem to care. Then to top it off Timberlake won the award instead of George. Guess I'm getting old but I see nothing original about Justin. He just copies other's style. THe only hightlight was the Paul and Ringo's appearance by video. Paul looks kinda tired although he was entertaining. Ringo looked good, seemed relaxed.
-
looks like it's time to boycott the Grammys from here on out!!
-
Hi Dmmedic i couldnt agree more with what you said, it's almost like people thought the Beatles were a joke, i'd like to see any of them around in 40 years with the kind of influence the Beatles have had.
-
I feel the same Starr. Most of those performers will fade away. Can you even think of who won a few years ago? They just don't realized what an influence the Beatles had on subsequent performers and the new grounds they broke.
-
I agree, i can't even remember those who won last year!! I'll have to look for an email address for the grammys to complain if i find one i'll post it. Have a good night everyone!!

CRAP! I just saw it and that's what I thought. CRAP!!!!! I can't believe they did that. Why didn't they just didn't do it, would have had the same effect. They just made it worse by having Justine Timberskank winning. GORD, what is this world coming to....? Well, at least the "Tribute" band had the cool screen thing...but, that didn't save them too much. And imagine this, I have so many years to live yet. I hope I can do something about this. Wonder how happy Paul must be for their lack of effort on this. I think they should have had American English or Rubber Soul do something. At least they imtimatate. Bah!
-
The Grammys have been irrelevant for some time now... Don't worry about them. Best, Sam C.

No crap! I wanna email them too. Have someone from the teenage years do something. LIKE ME!!! They are trying to please the teens. Unfortunatly, my type of teen isn't really around. Gah!!!

Hello Sara how are you tonight? Kathy, I agree with you that the Beatles will love on forever with people like you and me. On the news this evening they had a story about the woman who helped get them popular and showed clips from the Ed Sullivan show. I will try to watch the grammies tomorrow. Rap is not even music because they don't sing or play any instruments. They talk to a beat. I can't believe people like it but I guess everyone is different. One rap music fan in high school made fun of me and said that ******'s favorite group is the Beatles. He is black and he called me that? That is pretty funny! This is the same guy who used to swear in class and say he did it because Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor make money that way. He wound up quitting school and working in a car wash. IT is funny that rap fans make fun of Beatle fans and think theyir sutff is the cool stuff. There are more Beatle fans than rap fans as you say and rap wouldn't even be around had the Bealtes not been an influence.
Wholy crap, Giri, you type LOTS! Hi Giri, Your going to try to watch it. PLEASE watch it so we can make fun of it together. It is interesting like on CNN too, they are doing something at 6/7 central time tonight I think. I don't know, but they had something yesterday that was called something like: It was just "Yesterday" and they showed people in D.C with something and it was really interesting because 2 women sang part of Yesterday. Some people are just...uh, different. (I'm thinking that's my word for stupid. :lol I'm guessing that they don't really like to go see other older stuff other than things beyond the year 1999. Yes, I think that too about the Beatles not around there wouldn't be rap. Sometimes I think they have created a monster, but then again, I'll just pop one of their albums in and forget about it. All I can say to that coloured guy is...What comes around, goes around. And oh, yes, trouble does come in three.
Kathy, Yes I do type alot. It is a habit of mine,I hope you don't mind. If you do let me know and I'll try to type less. i usually write long e-mails to myfriend while my brother writes very short ones. I saw where two women sang part of Yesterday. On CNN tonight I saw the clip from the Beatles Ed Sullivan performance singing All My Lvoing. Rap is a monster and not even real music in my opinion and won't be as popular as the Beatles forty years from now. As for the other colored guy yes what goes around coems around. I have no idea where he is now. I saw the grammy awards but missed the tribute. I can't beleive Justin Timberlake beat George for male pop vocal performance. What is with the grammies? Even Christina Aguillera won. Something is not right here. I saw the president's awards and saw Olivia,Yoko,Paul and Ringo. Iwas at least happy to see Paul and Ringo except they didn't have enough tributes to them. Teh bgeatles rule no matter what people say! I think people have been brainwashed into thinking the Beatles don't matter and rap is cool and teen pop is good music.
-
Sara, I know how you feel. Justin winning over George is just pathetic! There sis something wrong with the grammies. I'm glad to ahve seen Paul and Ringo though. IT is too bad that the tribute didn't go well. I wish there was a fan award we could give to them. Dmmedic which person were you talking about when you were telling me the Beatles were teh frist band to speak up about segragation?

Well, actually many feel that Justin is in, and George's time has passed. Of course, that does not alter the fact that George was far more talented than Justin is and may ever be. Tearing off something from a woman in a performance does not impress me as talent of any kind. I think Justin has been out of sync for some time now. Which is why I stopped watching the Grammys a long time ago, it is just another award show..... The fan award we give them is listening to their music decades after it was still released. Not to mention that there is another generation listening to their music now.... Don't let it bother you.... Best, Sam C.
-
Sam is only up by 6 votes this morning. Yes, Justin beating out George is a terrible injustice. I heard Olivia and Yoko were very classy and I am sorry I missed Paul and Ringo by satellite, but I just hate awards show and I knew they would totally mess up the tribute and it sounds like they did.
-
Hi everyone. Is was nice that George won an award. In my opinion `Brainwashed' should have won best album. But....why do you all get upset ?? The `Grammys' are controlled by the money men who want to dish out awards to the artistes who are currently setting today's trends, such as `Timberhead', Britney Asperagus-spears and all that hoopla stuff. Everyone who knows anything about real musical talent and durability knows The Beatles are the YARDSTICK they all have to measure up to !! Including the Grammy-Masters and the moneymen. So just let it wash over you. The Beatles are forever !! Love, cheers and hugs on Beatle Day !! Sam.

You can say that again... It's all a big joke and too mainstream for my liking. You know there's something wrong when Beyonce wins 5 grammies and Radiohead doesn't even get nominated. 5 grammies?? For what? Not writing her own music, not playing an instrument and for being a marketing puppet? Wow... That's pretty disturbing. At that rate, I hope I never win one because I'll know something went wrong. I never bother watching the grammies because I know I'll hear about it from at least one person the next day. I haven't watched them in years. I'd rather watch the Beatles Anthology or play my collection of 60s records and think back on when music existed as an art form.
-
Good morning all. I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend. After reading about the Grammys here on the board, I am even more happy that I didn't watch the broadcast. They have an opportunity to honor the greatest band of the 20th century and they totally flub it-what a disgrace.
