Wow. Congrats from me as well. The good news from me is, drum roll, five of my little poems have been accepted for publication in April/May. So, Sir Steven, I will post my little bird poem after the book comes out--as promised. It was supposed to be printed in May, but got delayed.
Wow, that's great! Can't wait to read them!!
Thank you. One will be printed this summer, one in October. Another is in this book: http://www.amazon.com/Bridge-Fates-Selected-International-Poets/dp/1499276060/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1401751387&sr=1-1&keywords=bridge+of+fates
Wow, congratulations.... there is an I Love Poems thread in What You Are Doing... it's been a bit inactive for a while, maybe you can get our poets back into shape for posting again!

Paper cut outs and the artist is Henri Matisse. He started doing the paper cutouts in his later years after surgery. I am praying that the one called Icarus is there!! It's my fav!! http://allyoucanimagine.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/matisse-icarus-jpg.jpeg Very colorful, kind of reminds me of David Hockneys iPad paintings in a way... love those bright colors!

Honestly, I don't remember that one, but it may have been there. There are so many pieces, you won't get bored.

I'm getting the feeling that they are going to be larger than I first imagined... I am really hoping that the Icarus one is there... there's nothing like seeing a painting that you've thought about or loved, for the first time Especially if it's a different size than you always imagined!! Thinking of Botticelli's Birth of Venus and La Primavera.... the most memorable paintings ever also Starry Night by Van Gogh, Arnolfini Portrait - Van Eyck, the Dance NYC and St. Petersburg - Matisse, Lady Seated at a Virginal Vermeer, Red Room Matisse in St. Petersburg, Magritte False Mirror, Picasso the Musicians... there are soo many. I love Mattisse!

I enjoyed his work too. Speaking of memorable, when I saw Seurat's A Sunday Afternoon of the Island of Grande Jatte ? I was speechless. It's in Chicago. It takes up the side of a whole long wall. I could sit and look at it for hours. There are even benches across from it.

The good news is that it's FRIDAY! TGIF!

I haven't seen that one, I've seen Bathing At Asnieres and La Parade. I remember my mom showing me the idea of pointillism from that painting when I was a young girl. That one is definitely on my list of must see's! I love to get up close and look at the brush stokes... Oh van Gogh or modern art!! There was a great exhibit of Vermeer in London last year... called Vermeer and Music which had intricate photos of the paint and brush strokes and it was so interesting as it tied it into music and painting of the time with lutes. It was fabulous... I know what you mean about sitting and enjoying a painting. You have to get there when there aren't too many people milling all about tho!

I just read a poem that said, in a footnote, a year's long recent research by a team, discovered that Starry, Starry Night was actually painted during a time with a phenomenal amt. of stars in the sky due to something scientific. I was like, wow! It wasn't just his imagination. He really was painting what he saw. It's one of my favs, too

You reminded me of this classic song and video by Don Mclean that I haven't watched in awhile. Sad but beautiful. Vincent (Starry Starry Night) Don McLean ...nearly 9 million views
